You may have heard that a picture paints a thousand words. But here at Ivy lettings we feel that sometimes to really get a feel for a place, you need to be told its story, and for that the text is vital.
If streets themselves could talk, Old Brompton Road would have stories to make your eyes as wide as marbles! The courting of Princess Diana took place on this very street, where she shared a flat with three friends until 1981. Strangely another princess-to-be inhabited the very same building- ladies this is clearly the place to be if you want to bag yourself a prince, maybe there is something in the air here?
Now step inside your new home, as characterful and classically English as Old Brompton Road itself. Set up high on the 4th floor (there are stairs but don’t worry there is an elevator too!) the apartment has a peaceful and quiet atmosphere that gives nothing away of the bustling street below. Looking around you can see where the owner, a writer and journalist, gets their inspiration. Find an open-plan living room with dark wooden floorboards, a large flat screen television and patterned rugs. A stunning oak table seats up to six people and there’s a separate fully equipped kitchen. But wait, we haven’t told you the best bit yet- you will have your very own roof-terrace the size of a squash court! Sunbathing by day or stargazing and al fresco dining by night, this unique space is the perfect lookout for some people watching or just to while away the hours with a good book.
Beds and Baths
Expect a master bedroom complete with a 5ft bed and large twin windows, providing a ready supply for natural light. There is a second bedroom with a double sofa bed that could equally be used as a study. The property is perfect for a family or couple looking for a unique Kensington home, yet would also perfectly fit the needs of business travellers.
Find a blue themed bathroom with all that you would expect it to provide; a bath with built-in shower, toilet and basin.
There is of course wireless Internet, but for those who prefer reading at bedtime there is also a well stocked book shelf for you to browse through.
While you're up on your roof terrace, take a look at the street below and remember that it hasn’t always been the playground of royalty. The pub a mere hundred meters away, now the Pembroke, was reportedly the stalking ground for three separate serial killers. Glance a little further and note the world-famous Troubadour, above which, in a little coffee house, the Private Eye was founded.
Whatever you’re plans in London there is a huge variety of sites, restaurants and activities all within striking distance. There are plenty of supermarkets close by including a Marks and Spencer’s and a Sainsbury’s. For a friendly local pub try the Blackbird. Or if you are in the mood for something a little more bohemian then check out the world-famous Troubadour. This place has a well-deserved reputation for its fantastic cocktails, character and live music- the Mumford and Sons played here only a few years ago. Whatever you’re taste this is a food-lovers dream.
Maybe take in Christie’s, the globally renowned auction house, located just half a mile away. Countless legendary lots have passed through here including Audrey Hepburn’s timeless black dress from the all-time classic Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and 20 of Elton John’s cars! The Thames, Battersea Park and Hyde Park are only a little further afield as well as the Albert Hall and the V & A. London’s most fashionable streets for shopping are also within easy reach
You are only a five-minute walk from Earls Court station, if you do want to go further afield, the underground will take you directly to most places in and around central London.

Guestbook comments from the manager
I spent 10 days at this flat and my wife joined me for the last 5 days. I arrived late at night but the process to get the keys was well done. It is a very comfortable flat and the descriptions of the flat are accurate. The neiborhood is excellent and the Earl's Court tube stop is just a short walk away. Travelling to the expensive shops in Sloane Square is a short taxi ride or just a few stops on the tube. I travel to London frequently on business and staying in the flat beats a hotel room. I commuted into the city (financial district) most days on the tube. We used the kithchen facilities and on sunny days used the roof top terrace. There are several nice restaurants in the area, The owner provides a list of recommend restaurants which is quite helpful. The bed is comfortable. As the top floor in the building the flat is cheerfully bright on a sunny day.
