Overview

Tivat Cottage Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 4, two single kayaks

This rustic and characterful two bedroom stone house, with its pretty facade, looks out over the tiny harbour of Kakrc to the islet of Our Lady of Mercy which is dominated by its Catholic monastery.

On the ground floor, the lounge/kitchenette-diner is compact yet comfortable and functional and is decorated in a complimenting country-style. Stone floors and exposed stone walls are just some of the traditional features you can expect, adding to the considerable charm of the property. A shower/wet room rounds out the comforts downstairs.

Upstairs is equipped with two cosy bedrooms (double/bunk) that enjoy views of the Bay from the shuttered windows.

Outside, the private terrace with its stone built BBQ area is a delight, and a great place to dine and sunbathe. The views are enchanting too, looking out across the tiny harbour to the imposing mountains that surround Kotor.

Suitability:
  • children welcome
  • pets not allowed

About Michael Taylor

I’ve worked in the travel industry for a few years now and have been living in Herceg Novi, Montenegro for the past 12 months. My favourite properties are the ones high in the hills, in secluded locations with great views of the sea.

Michael Taylor purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Michael Taylor chose Tivat

My company Explore Montenegro contracted this property because of the unique, peaceful waterfront location and rustic charm. It's a lovely, cosy getaway.

What makes this cottage unique

This property is a great place to get away from it all and just enjoy the sound of the sea lapping against the stones. To make this property even more special we have supplied a 2-man kayak so you can spend a lazy afternoon bobbing on the water or exploring the coast of Lustica Peninsula

Guestbook comments from the manager

We grew to really like the cottage after the initial shock! The swimming was fantastic and we appreciated the quiet location.

Relaxing and peaceful

Everything was fantastic. The tranquility made it the perfect escape for us and I find it hard to imagine peace and quiet like it anywhere else. Views over the bay were beautiful!

Authentic cottage. great situation on the water and very peaceful. Good for getting away from it all. If you have a car, worth exploring the peninsula as really quite breathtaking.

Perfect for 2 - cute cottage in tranquil setting!

  • 5 of 5

Just arrived back from the most relaxing, peaceful holiday ever. This pretty little cottage is perfect for 2 and has so much character! It is right on the bay - we sat on the terrace reading, eating, sunbathing, painting - it was just magical. We also took the kayak out (included in the price for the week) around the bay nearly every morning to discover the beautiful scenery that is Montenegro.

If you are looking to get away from it all - then this is the place for you - charming!

The tranquil coastal village of Krasici enjoys a postcard perfect setting on the southern shore of the Bay of Tivat. The azure Adriatic stretches ahead, behind are olive groves and vines. It has all the charm of a fishing village, and all the attractions of a popular waterfront destination, with a cluster of cafés, bars and beaches to choose from. There are excellent restaurants along the waterfront too, many specialising in the freshest local seafood.

The wild interior offers culinary delights too. Explore the gentle hills and surrounds and you’ll come across small farm after small farm offering the chance to taste local cheeses, olives, ham, wine and rakija, making for lovely stops if you’re hiking. It’s a great area for walking, particularly along the coast, where some of Montenegro’s finest yet least crowded beaches can be found.

The immediate surroundings may be peaceful, but there’s glamour and buzz within easy reach, with the luxury marina of Porto Montenegro and Tivat just a short drive away. Kotor is close by car too, with all its charms, medieval squares and alleyways, cafés and markets, churches and museums, providing plenty of atmosphere to soak up before heading back to the quieter charms of Krasici.

Notes:
Located directly on the seafront in the tiny fishing village of Kakrc is where you will find the quaint and cosy Fisherman's Cottage. This traditional stone villa is full of rustic character and retains many of its original features. Situated on the unspoilt Lustiča peninsula, the small hamlet of Kakrc, with its traditional stone dwellings and tiny harbour, is the ideal place to relax and unwind. This largely undeveloped peninsula is a great place to explore and is also home to some of the finest beaches in Montenegro, including the white-pebble Žanjice and the sandy Plavi Horizonti. The once isolated landscape is dotted with farms that still produce their own cheese and prosciutto. The peninsula has a rich cultural heritage which is embodied by the many churches whose roofs can be glimpsed over the tops of the lush olive groves.
