Our friend Dani's parents came down to San Ignacio for a week. They stayed at a cottage called Kumquat Cottage. We all got to meet them on Friday night when they invited the whole UVM crew to the place for a barbeque and some fun! Dani's dad, also known as the grill master, grilled us up some fresh tilapia and shrimp kabobs while everyone else brought a dish for dinner. Dani's parents were hilarious; we all had so much fun! Her dad made a bocce ball set out of some rocks and limes so that kept us entertained for most of the evening. There was even a dance off between Dani's dad and one of our people at one point. We had so much fun at the cottage that our group has decided to rent Kumquat out on the last weekend we're here in Belize as a final hoorah. Below are some pictures.

Great House

  • 5 of 5

We loved this artsy house very much. It was centrally located for us to be able to do numerous tours and even the tour companies picked us up with the house. San Ignacio itself is tiny. Preston and Ricky were great in handling our stay and helped with any questions we had. Very easy!

Good base to enjoy what is to see in Belize and Guatemala

  • 4 of 5

This is a lovely property, very nicely done, central to the business district and easy to find places to eat, drink and obtain transportation. The property is very well equipped, comfortable and quiet. The property manager was very nice and helpful. It does get very hot in the areas without A/C. I am a person who enjoys the heat, but it was warm even for me.

A few good fans would solve this problem as it gets much cooler in the evenings.

Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

What an awesome place! We felt very comfortable here and enjoyed being able to walk to town and the Iguana Conservation Project. The time and care that went into making Kumquat Cottage beautiful inside and out is immediately evident. We were warmly greeted by Ricky, but did not see him like others did during our stay as we were out exploring all day, every day :-) We were looking for toucans in the jungle as we explored, but we saw them here right in the backyard! We took a horse ride the the ruins via Hanna Stables with Santiago as our guide - it was the best! We went to Poustania Land Art Park which was a lot of fun and interesting. Our time here will be remembered forever.

Awesome stay

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for our 10th wedding anniversary. Beautiful place great location! The garden is stunning! Only one suggestion is to get air conditioning throughout the house. We didn't spend a ton of time in the living room because it was so warm. The home has everything you can ask for. Elias was recommended as our tour guide. You MUST ask for him! Love the time we spent here!

What a Awesome Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

I did not want a resort. I wanted a beautiful property with a kitchen close to town so I can experience the culture. Boy, did we get we asked for and more. I couldn't be more happier with my choice to stay at Kumquat Cottage. Ricky, the house attendant was very nice and Preston was quick to respond to my emails. I was sadden that I left but, ,WILL come back! We both left content and in love with Cayo.

Great house!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Kumquat Cottage for one week and it was one of the best weeks of our lives! The house was perfect for our needs. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to cook some meals. The décor was fabulous and well done! A lot of imagination went into it. We are both plant lovers and really enjoyed the tour around the gardens by Ricky. Ricky really made our entire week more enjoyable. He showed us around town when we arrived and then went with us on a couple tours. I feel like he really became a friend to us. He even came over our last night and cooked us dinner! It was a great week and we plan to return and we will definitely stay in Kumquat Cottage again!
