This villa is located on a quiet, purpose-built complex on the outskirts of the village of Obrochiste. The spacious, open-plan ground floor has a light and airy feel, with comfortable sofas and flat-screen satellite TV and DVD player. The dining area has an extendable table and seating for 8 people (plus a high chair). The kitchen is fully-fitted with fridge/freezer, oven, ceramic hob and washing machine and all the utensils you will need.
There is a double bedroom on the ground floor with twin beds, and door leading to the rear patio area - ideal for barbeques. There is also a shower room.
Upstairs, you will find three further bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king-size bed and travel cot. The other rooms have twin beds. Two of the bedrooms open out onto the balcony, with fabulous views. There is a bathroom with corner bath and a further shower room.
The villa is close to a shared swimming pool, and there is a second pool on the side next to the bar/restaurant
The village of Obrochiste is located 38 km from Varna airport, about 40 minutes drive. Driving directions are provided should you decide to hire a car from the airport. Or we can arrange for an English-speaking driver to collect you from the airport and take you to the villa. Local taxis and a minibus service means that it is not essential to hire a car.
It is a short stroll to the mini-supermarket in the village which will supply all of your basic needs, plus many smaller village shops, bars and a pharmacy. There is a restaurant and bar on the site.
The nearest beach is at Albena, about 5 minutes drive away. This is a family-friendly resort with lots of activities and water sports for all ages. Sun loungers and parasols can be hired on the beach. There are bars, restaurants and clubs - although serious party-goers will probably prefer the nearby resort of Golden Sands (about 20 minutes drive). There is a water-park here too. Albena is expensive - you will pay tourist prices in the restaurants here. However, there are plenty of excellent value (and better quality, in our opinion) restaurants in local towns such as Kranavo and Balchik. There is a folder in the villa with suggestions of places that have been personally recommended.
The city of Varna has shops (including a newly opened shopping mall), cinema, theatre, bowling, bars, restaurants and clubs. There is plenty of culture to be explored too. There is a Dolphinarium and a Go-kart track.
If you enjoy golf, then there are three championship golf courses within 20 - 30 minutes drive of the villa. With spectacular views over the Black Sea and pro-shops where you can hire clubs. Non-golfing partners can spend the day relaxing in the spa. They all have excellent restaurants. The course are BlackSeaRama and Thracian Cliffs (both designed by Gary Player), and Lighthouse Golf (designed by Ian Woosnam). You must also visit the Kaliakra Resort on the cliffs - fabulous infinity pools.
Other attractions include the hot spa pool at St Constantine & Helena - fed with natural mineral water with many therapeutic properties. Cape Kaliakra is a lovely day out, with its historic ruined fortress. If you like mussels, then pay a visit to the mussel farm where you can watch them farming the mussels in the bay while you enjoy a plate of fresh shellfish. If you enjoy wine, then the renowned Varna Winery is practically on the doorstep. Enjoy a tour of the winery and finish with a guided tasting of some of the best locally-produced wines in the country.
We have been visiting Bulgaria for five years, and every time we go, we find something new. It is a beautiful country with friendly people. The pace of life is slow and it is an ideal place for a relaxing holiday.
