Peyrouse, a little village with a traditional market square, lies at the foot of the Pyrenees. If you want to combine the calmness of a village with various outdoor activities, this is the ideal holiday location for you. By car, you get quickly into the mountains which offer a large network of hike paths. Several paths lead from Peyrouse into the hills behind the village, so you can start directly from the cottage without getting into the car. In winter, a number of ski fields are easily accessible.
The neighbouring cities are Lourdes (5 km) and Saint-Pé-de-Bigorre (4 km). Saint-Pé, with approximately 1,200 inhabitants, has a picturesque centre. A bakery and other small shops are situated near the market square. Lourdes has only around 16,000 inhabitants, but is a thriving pilgrimage town in summer. The Grotto of Massabielle is situated at the city limits and open all year. Besides the sanctuary, Lourdes features many other facilities for pilgrims and tourists, such as the historical market hall, numerous shops, restaurants, museums and a cinema. Not least, the castle has been reigning over the city for many centuries.
Lourdes’ indoor swimming pool is open all year, and in summer an open air pool opens its doors. The open air pool in Saint-Pé is open in July and August.
