Photos and Description of the Indre-et-Loire vacation farmhouse rental A holiday home in the countryside of the historic Loire Valley of France.

Once a farmhouse and adjoining barn the property has been renovated to a high standard to provide spacious holiday accommodation for up to 8 people. There are beams, pointed stonework, open fireplaces, flagstones and oak floors. There are 4 bedrooms, the largest of which has an ensuite bath. The kitchen and laundry rooms have terracotta tiles and exposed beams and are fully equipped. There is a salon at each end of the house allowing families to find their own space. In the centre of the holiday home is the almost baronial dining room with its high ceiling, beams, flagstones & open fireplace. The table here can seat 12 and is bathed in light from a large stained glass window. The modern gas boiler provides plenty of hot water & makes all year holiday rental possible. Surrounded by stone walls the sunny garden invites you to lounge beside your private swimming pool with a glass or two of Chinon wine. A Catalpa tree offers shade under its parasol of leaves during those hot summer days.

South of the Loire in the beautiful valley of the river Veude our self catering holiday rental is midway between historic Chinon and Richelieu. The house is in the small hamlet of Niollet 1km from the village of Champigny sur Veude. Here as in many of the towns and villages nearby, the footprint of history has left its mark for you to discover. Within an hours driving you can visit many of the great Loire chateaux. The towns of Tours, Poitiers, Saumur, Fontevaurd and the attraction of Futuroscope are all within an hours drive. The region renown for its food and wine has restaurants and bars to suite all tastes and pockets. Summer sees fetes and festivals in the villages and towns. It is a major french wine area and we can direct you to our favourite caves where you will be able to taste, compare and buy local wines at local prices. This is a quiet, calm part of France. People are friendly. The country lanes can be safely cycled and walked and the countryside abounds with wildlife.

Additional information about rental rates

  • We ask for 25% of the rental cost upon booking. This deposit is non refundable should you cancel. The remaining 75% should be paid 8weeks before the start of your holiday. At this time we may ask you in addition for a refundable deposit of €290 (£200) which we retain in case of breakages or damage etc.. We are happy to accept payment in euros or UK pounds.
  • All bed linen and towels (not pool towels) are included in the rental. For those guests who stay longer than a week we will arrange with you to change the beds and towels after a week. Normal use of electricity and gas are included and we make no extra charge for cleaning at the end of your stay. We do request however that you leave the house as clean and tidy as possible.
  • Of course we will be leaving you a couple of bottles of the local wine so as to start your holiday on a convivial note.

Notes: The fully equipped laundry room with washing machine, dryer, sink and extra fridge is separate from the kitchen. There are two living rooms, one at each end of the farmhouse. We normally think the room by the kitchen is a games room as here, there is a cupboard stacked with games, a table-football and there are table and chairs which seat six. The other salon, equipped with satellite TV (Canal Sat & Canal +), library and relaxing chairs and sofas is an ideal quiet room. We find this arrangement works well and gives extra space for a large family or two families sharing. The dining room is very spacious with a high beamed ceiling and attractive period features. There is plenty of space in this house and guests frequently comment on how easy it is lo loose one another. Our holiday home has proved popular with families who like to go on holiday together and with extended families who want to come together for a relaxing reunion. The swimming pool has a safety fence.

Winter and Christmas. : The house is warm in the winter with the central heating boiler and the open fire in the salon. We have had some lovely parties at Christmas time and we will decorate the house for you should you wish to rent it for a Christmas in the Loire Valley.
