We offer our special apartment in Paris to lovers of Paris. Located on rue St Jacques in the heart of the Latin Quarter, this romantic self-catering apartment is on the 3rd and 4th floor of a building overlooking the St Severin church. You will find it hard to find such a central apartment in Paris.

It is amazing to have an apartment so centrally located in Paris, being only a minute’s walk from Notre Dame and the Ile de la Cité, and about the same distance from Blvd St Germain and Blvd St Michel in the heart of the Latin Quarter. This is a perfect place for a couple, but also ideal for a couple with one or two children (up to 4 pers) to experience Paris. This apartment has had people living in it for over 400 years, so feel free to contact us to see if you can share with us part of this history. About John Reese

I have been involved in French tourism since 1993 organising tours and renting villas and apartments to clients. In 2007 my accountant said to me that my life would not be complete until I owned a property in France! What a rare accountant! So my wife and I fell in love with this property in Paris the second we saw it. The rest is history!

Why John Reese chose 5th Arrondissement Latin Quarter

We had always wanted to own a property in France, and we looked far and wide for the suitable place. We looked particularly through Provence, but every place we saw we never really fell in love with. I wanted a place that I would want to have a framed photo of in my home in NZ - one that friends would look at enviously. After a very short search in Paris we stumbled on this apartment. I asked a friend in Paris to see the apartment straight away and he advised me that 'it was a little jewel' (un petit bijou). I travelled immediately to Paris to see it, and immediately on seeing it I hugged the real estate agent - this was the place. We are privileged to be able to own such a special piece of Paris.

What makes this apartment unique

In buying a property I wanted a few features. I wanted to be on the third floor, far enough away from the street below, and I wanted to have a lovely view. On walking into the lounge you are transfixed by the glorious view of the St Severin Church and garden - they are my neighbours! As a bonus the apartment faces west so gets the afternoon sun - I've even had people sun-bathing in the window!! As a bonus we are as centrally located as you could possibly be - the Seine River is 150 metres away and Notre Dame Cathedral is a minute's walk away. Because of this proximity everything in central Paris is so close, with barely any need to take the metro. Despite the proximity to the busy Notre Dame area, the area behind Rue St Jacques is absolutely local Latin quarter, with the local hub being based around Place Maubert with their exciting array of magnificent food shops and market.

Thank you so much for the use of your wonderful apartment during our recent visit to Paris-actually it was back in May and we have been back in NZ for 4 weeks, but the memories are still vibrant and real.

Martine was great. I sent her a text message upon our arrival in Gare Nord and as the taxi pulled into 17 Rue St Jacques, she arrived. Her English is really very good and I complimented her on how easily we were able to converse.

We loved being able to open the window of the apartment and look straight onto the street. The proximity of your apartment to everything was a huge plus for us.

The book that you wrote with your recommendations was very exact and we did enjoy experiencing so many of them. The market on Thursdays and Saturdays sure hooked me! I had to go both days!!! The English speaking taxi company that you recommended also was very helpful, arriving on time and transporting us to Gare Lyon for our train trip to Geneva.

A charming apartment

This is a delightful apartment near the Sorbonne. Close to the Seine, it is situated near many popular landmarks, Notre Dame, Musee D’Orsay, Pompidou Centre, Jardins de Luxembourg , Jardins de Tuilleries, and many other points of interest. There is a good local food market with speciality shops, a supermarket within an easy walk and many interesting shops . You are spoilt for choice by the number of good cafes & restaurants nearby. The underground station is nearby if you want to explore further afield.

The apartment is very attractive, well fitted out and comfortable. The only drawback is the three flights of stair to get there. But once inside you have a wonderful view from the window. The bathroom has been modernised and is adjacent to the bedroom. There is a separate toilet. The kitchen is modern and well furnished. The main lounge is comfortable and spacious. Wifi is available. We had a very comfortable week here.

The best location.

My husband and I stayed for 6 nights in this fantastic apartment, just 2 mins walk from Notre Dame and across the road from Saint Severin church. The location was ideal and the apartment extremely spacious and comfortable. John, the owner, communicated clearly all the details about the apartment and included very helpful walking tours which we followed and enjoyed. A particular highlight for us was a Vivaldi concert in Sainte Chapelle on my birthday- so memorable. The central location of this apartment and the elegance and space provided make this a 'must' for any traveller to Paris.

Our family of five absolutely loved the suitability and location of this lovely apartment. The view from the windows is incredible as it the easy access to all of the most sought after sights of Paris. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

Séjour romantique à Paris

Fin janvier à Paris - dans le quartier de la Rive Gauche. n'y a nulle part ailleurs si agréable pour passer un

séjour romantique...... même par un temps inhabituel. Il gêlait et ne parlons pas de la neige!

Quel appartement ravissant! Ca se sent que les propriétaires l'aiment bien et cela nous transmet ce sentiment d'un vrai "chez soi". Ils ont fait en sorte qu'il y a tout ce qu'il faut pour y passer un séjour magnifique... hyper confortable, meublé avec du goût, avec une cuisine bien équipée - si jamais on souhaite faire la cuisine, ce qui n'était pas notre cas.... car on a tant de choix de restaurants! Puis la calme du cours intérieur ainsi que le double vitrage sur la façade donnant sur la rue Saint Jacques voulaient dire que nous avons pu passer des nuits bien tranquilles. Et on est parfaitement placé. Le cathédrale majestueux de Notre Dame, tout près de la Seine, n'est qu'à une centaine de mètres. L'appartement lui même donne directement sur l'Eglise St Séverin. Tout autour se trouve une gamme de restaurants

fabuleux. Le métro, les bus, le bateau bus etc, ils sont tous à porté de main. Nous nous trouvions idéalement placés pour aller visiter ces sites touristiques de Paris qui sont à peine à quelques minutes à pied...... le boulevard Saint Germain, le boulevard Saint Michel, Saint Germain des Près .... tous dans le même quartier.... et ensuite la Place des Vosges, le Marais, la Bastille, le Centre Pompidou...... mais je pourrais en cité /ad vitam eternam/..... c'est formidable. Une chose est claire - nous y retournerons volontiers!

Fabulous Paris Apartment with a view to die for

Lived as Parisians for the month of November in a very special location in the heart of Paris. Out of the window St Severin Church, down the road the beautiful river Seine, and Notre Dame Cathedral, a sightseeing paradise. Location location location makes this elegant apartment a joy. Come up 3 flights of winding stairs carefully through the various security codes into a world of your own. Unless you have front windows wide open to St Jacques below the double glazing keeps the apartment peaceful, a large comfortable double bed in the master bedroom at the back where one can sleep with the windows open away from traffic noise is to be treasured. An adjoining bath and shower a few steps away from the master bed is very handy and luxurious, a separate toilet for if there are guests. A very helpful fluent English speaking French lady who is on call to service the apartment at request gives peace of mind. Use the Tues, Thurs and Sat market at Place Maubert and the adjoining butcher and boulangerie for your french bread plus the Boulangerie on Rue Galande for good patisseries. A pattiserie a day keeps the doctor away, we often had two! Cooking your passion? The Place Maubert market even has fresh fish for you to cook in the apartment on and there is the gorgeous Place Maubert cheese shop closeby for dessert with grapes. A microwave in case you get take aways from the Chinese Restaurant downstairs so you can heat it up next day! A huge fridge to keep your goodies fresh. A very elegantly furnished apartment of large proportions with excellent facilities including TV and phone, iron and iron board and a dishwasher and washing machine/dryer, even a drying clothes horse. A number of beautiful coffee table books on Paris/France. An apartment clean and appealing to the eye and very much loved by its owners in New Zealand. Very much to be recommended to visitors to Paris, everyone should be so lucky to go and live as a Parisian at 17 Rue St Jacques with cuisine so delish at famous restaurants such as Procope and I'llot Vache and of course all the famous sights easy to get to such as the Eiffel, Le Louvre, Montmarte, go cycle around! The attractions, activities and restaurants are endless. A fabulous folder full of ideas and instructions to get around Paris await you when you arrive to help you get the most of your Parisian adventure, do take the opportunity, enjoy!

Fabulous location , a quality offering.

My family of 5 which included 2 teenage boys and elderly Grand Mother, stayed at this beautiful apartment for 5 nights in January 2008.

The location is fabulous, the apartment was well heated, and the kitchen is the best I have cooked in, in Paris.

We were extremely comfortable in all the beds, and we much appreciated the free wireless internet connection.

The apartment overlooks a lovely church, but at night it was quiet and peacefull.

Walking distance to everything, the location is the best!

John is an absolute delight to deal with.We have always relied on him for all our French travel (over the past 15 years), and it is wonderful that he now has this special apartment.

We can recommend this apartment 100%.

This apartment is located only about 100m from the Seine River and Blvd St Germain respectively and several minutes walking takes you to the front of the Cathedral of Notre Dame. Within a few minutes walk you can access two of the best metros and RER stations available, and there are some wonderful bus route from near the apartment. You are also minutes walk as well from the Cluny Museum, Ste Chapelle, the Pantheon, and the Sorbonne University. You are in the heart of the Latin Quarter. Within five to ten minutes walk away you can get to the Louvre, Musee d'Orsay, the Cluny Medieval Museum, Pantheon, Hotel de Ville, the Luxembourg Gardens. Within minutes of the apartment you will arrive at the Place Maubert market on Blvd St Germain, and there are restaurants galore in the neighbourhood. You couldn't be located in a more central location - because of your proximity to all major sights you hardly have a necessity to take public transport while here!

  • The bedroom is on the third floor off the entrance hall. The bedroom is not small and has good cupboard spaces. The bed is 1.65m wide and is a top of the range bed with independent zones. There are double windows which open from the bedroom, and open on to the space over the courtyard below, which allows those to have lovely fresh air in the bedroom. This bedroom is very quiet and you could almost feel as though you were sleeping in the countryside, whereas you are in the centre of the bustling city of Paris. Off the bedroom opens to the ensuite bathroom. The WC is located off the entrance hallway just outside the bedroom door. Once you are in the entrance hallway you go up stairs to the main living area on the 4th floor. In the lounge is a high quality Italian made comfortable fold out settee with a double bed. There is an armoire for storing clothes for those sleeping here. There is also a single sofa-bed, which has a roll-out single sofa bed stored underneath.

This apartment is located on the third and fourth floors of this apartment building. There is no lift to the apartment but the stairs are very easy and are not steep or restrictive. It is a very secure building with digicode access on the street door as well as the internal entrance door. The apartment makes a perfect home for a couple, however it easily accommodates another person or couple. The extra couple or single person is comfortably catered for in the lounge (on either the double fold-out or the single sofa bed), and with the lounge and bedrooms being on different levels and with a separate WC, both sleeping areas are very separate and independent from each other. In the winter central heating is provided, which is charged for separately.
