San Miguel de Allende House Rental Photos and Description
Beautiful 1 large bedroom+ den w/bed + separate Casita. 12 min walk to town
$1997/month main house; $800/month guest house (VRBO#592969).
The property is situated in Centro and it takes between 10- 15 min. to walk to the heart of town. All of my guests have enjoyed the walk down as it's fascinating to meander on the many and different, small, winding streets while appreciating the flowers cascading from terraces and balconies. Many guests also look forward to the aerobic exercise coming home! However, it’s easy to catch a $2.50 taxi for a 5 minute ride in either direction.

Experience luxury and privacy in one of the most beautiful gardens in San Miguel. Both the casita and the main house are within a walled and secure complex and there is a good deal of separation between the two homes.
The main house is a truly a “home” with many exceptional features …. it has sophistication and charm, but is also warm and cozy due to the unique bamboo and wood beam ceilings, warm terracotta walls and polished tile floors. It has one very large master bedroom with fire place as well as a combination den/bedroom. There is a very large bathroom upstairs and a half bath downstairs.
The first floor is an open floor plan with a lipstick red kitchen which looks out onto the garden and the casita in the distance. There is a dining room/living room combination and a half bath. Naturally, the fireplace is the focal point especially on nippy evenings.
Upstairs the master bedroom is amazingly large with fireplace and again the high ceilings with the bamboo and wood beams which make it cozy as well as elegant. The custom-made queen size bed with its delicious pillow-top mattress guarantees a good night’s sleep. The den/bedroom with a twin bed is just off the large dressing room from the master bedroom.
The adjoining bathroom is quite a luxury due to its large size, beautiful tile work and the fact that there is a lot of natural light from a window looking out onto the garden. It includes both a shower and extra long bath. Women certainly appreciate and take notice when they see it ...we ladies like light and this bathroom has it as well as lots of counter and drawer space. Off the dressing area, there is an office/bed combination for an additional guest or child. The room is full of brilliant colors and overlooks the garden and fountain. Going outside from this room there is a washer/dryer. From that point, there are stairs leading to the crow’s nest terrace with a spectacular view of the Paroquia, city and surrounding countryside.
The casita is charming! It has an open floor plan which echoes the main house in design and décor. Warm terracotta walls and polished tile floors coupled with a most comfortable queen-size bed with pillow-top mattress, mini-kitchen, a beautifully tiled bath with shower, living area, dining nook, and a lovely view of the fountain and garden.
For both properties there is high speed wireless internet. Most of my guests have downloaded skype and can sit outside under the shade of the outdoor sala/living room while listening to the fountain, catching up on emails and having chats with friends at home.
Cable television is available in both homes and there are many movies with Spanish sub-titles (a great way to practice Spanish!) as well as American news stations, Discovery, etc. Plus the Main house has a DVD and C.D. player with many C.D's and some DVD's.
From both homes one enjoys the antique cantara stone fountain, lush lawn, flowering garden and vine covered high walls which surround the property. Each has its own front porch which face the lovely and most comfortable outside sala.
The outdoor living room (sala) has a dining area, and comfortable cushioned sofa and table and chairs. This is the perfect place for using your lap-top or simply reading while listening to the fountain. A charcoal barbecue makes it the ideal spot for entertaining and eating outdoors. Above the sala is a very large roof-top garden with a large table with umbrella for morning coffee or watching the sunset in the evenings.
The wonderful housekeeper and gardener live right across the street and keep an eagle's eye on the property. She cleans twice a week and deals with water, trash and oversees all other details. For a small, additional fee she would do your personal laundry when you wish. Her husband is a talented gardener who treats the garden as his own. Their weekly work hours are included in the rent, but if you wished to have them for more time, I could make arrangements with them.
There is off-street parking for one large vehicle behind the walls for you or for your friends and additional space in front of the house.
Please there is no smoking inside either home.
It's a lush, fragrant year round retreat.

I would like to share a bit about myself in relationship to my home. I had been a frequent visitor to San Miguel and each time I returned, I felt more and more drawn to the town and the people. Finally, I decided to rent for a year and decide if I wanted to make a move and experience a dramatic change of life style.
Like you, I found this property on VRBO and I rented it for a year, but since it was sight unseen, I had great trepidation as I approached the entrance. However, once I unlocked the door I knew that the only way I would ever move from this house was being carried out feet first!!!! Thankfully, the former owners decided to sell and I've been happy there ever since. Normally, I rent out the casita while I live in the main house, but now and then I'm required to return to my other beautiful town of Carmel, California and then I rent out my main house as well.
I never like my home to be vacant because I think it is such a gracious and beautiful spot that I want to share it with others. If it's not rented, I invite my close friends as my guests for a couple weeks vacation.
I have found that over the years, I have met the most wonderful guests and many of them have become dear friends. I consider myself a very fortunate lady for having taken the risk and made the move to San Miguel de Allende! It's been an ongoing adventure! I hope you will also be a guest and enjoy it as I have.

Sadly, we are back to reality!! We had the most wonderful time in SMA. Your home is truly an oasis. We walked to town everyday, explored, enjoyed lunch and returned every afternoon to your beautiful garden retreat. We only ate dinner out a few times preferring to stay at home and relax. Yours is a difficult place to leave! We had beautiful weather and all of your helpful hints made this a truly spectacular vacation. Thank you so much. Again, our sincerest thanks.
