Close to Sagrada Familia

This is a fairly nice place. The first review written has the best run down of information about the area and the places to go. The best parts about this place is the proximity to Sagrada Familia, so if you finish up your day of sightseeing here, it's just a short walk home. I did find though, that Barcelona is larger than I originally thought, and so to get to many of the touristic areas, I had to factor in 20-30 minutes for transit times. The neighborhood is mellow and residential, and because of this, it would have been nice to have a folder provided that listed recommended places to eat, maps, bars, tips from previous occupants, like at other VRBO places I have stayed. An acquaintance of the owner checked me into the apartment, and when I inquired about this, all I received was a friendly yet laconic shrug. There are some great tips from a previous review--please refer to this for information.
I came in February, and found the heat produced by the radiators to be ineffectual, but better than nothing. Neither the reception nor I were able to get the temperature control panel to operate properly, so I was pretty miserable for a few days until the cold snap of weather passed.
Overall, I found this to be an acceptable, place, but it was lacking in terms of location (again, my fault for not doing more research) and also it seemed to lack that "homey" feel that I so enjoy in a good VRBO.

Quiet Option near Sagrada Familia

The apartment pictures are accurate. It’s on the interior courtyard, so it’s fairly quiet from about 10:30pm to 9am. At other times, it could be a bit noisy but that’s true in any apartment. In terms of restaurants and bars, there’s not much exciting going on near the apartment, so there’s not much noise – important if you’re a very light sleeper.
The apartment was generally quite clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. Very clean bathroom/shower.
The kitchen is very basic and pretty typical in terms of vacation rentals. Nice convection oven but could use an instruction manual. I didn’t test out the a/c but the heating works well, though it’s a bit loud. Plenty of hot water on demand. Apartment could use a clock.
The apartment is in a safe and rather residential neighborhood – surprising considering proximity to Sagrada Familia which is only a few blocks away. Just across the street is a bakery where you can get coffee, bread and basic pastries; also, there is a fruit and vegetable shop (alimentacion) adjacent to the bakery. If you turn left coming out of the building and then left again at the corner, just up the block you’ll find a supermarket. There’s another one right near Sagrada Familia on Simo, I think.
Wi-Fi was fast and always available.
Carlos was very responsive to address my minor requests: an ironing board, new, was delivered within a day or so; minor problem with the cable television was corrected; dull kitchen knives were replaced with new ones. Plenty of essentials were provided such as hand soap, body wash, toilet paper, kitchen dish liquid, etc. – great since I didn’t need to run out to find these things the first day.
In terms of restaurants and bars, there didn’t seem to be anything terribly exciting near the apartment; however, within 20 – 30 minutes, either by walking or by metro, the whole city is open to you.

Super Wohnung

Eine Wohnung, die sehr zu empfehlen ist: Weshalb? Folgende Gründe sprechen für die Wohnung:

Lage: Zwar nicht im Zentrum, aber: Gute Anbindung durch die U-Bahn-Station Sagrada Familia. Achtung: hier den Ausgang Placa Gaudi wählen.
Ferner: Super Bus-Anbindungen. Für Spätheimkehrer: die Nachtlinie 9 hält rund 100 Meter von der Hauseingangstür entfernt.

Umfeld: alle Hausmitbewohner, zu denen wir Kontakt bekamen waren sehr freundlich. Die Wohnung ist in einem eher ruhigen Bereich Barcelonas. Ein besonderer Tip: Aus dem Haus raus - rechts rum - in die nächste Gaststätte rechts rein. Netter, symphatischer und zuvorkommender Wirt.

Die Wohnung: Wir waren zu zweit. Das Doppelbett im Schlafzimmer war meiner Holden etwas zu hart, sodaß sie ein anderes Schlafzimmer mit weicherem Bett gewählt hat. Das dritte Schlafzimmer haben wir zur Ablage unserer Koffer genutzt. Die Klimaanlage funktioniert hervorragend. Die Wohnung ist dem, für diesen Stadtteil typischen, Innenhof zugewandt. Hierdurch war es mir möglich nachts mit geöffnetem Fenster zu schlafen. Der Balkon ist zugänglich über das Schlafzimmer und auch vom Wohnzimmer aus. Die Wohnung liegt im vierten Stock. Durch den Aufzug aber kein Problem. Das Haus ist durch ein Spezialschloß gesichert. Zusätzlich hat die Wohnungstüre zwei Schlösser. Wir konnten also bedenkenlos Wertsachen in der Wohnung lassen.

Die Wohnungsausstattung: Alles da, was man oder frau braucht. In vielen Bereichen ist zu sehen, dass hier zu einer höherwertigen Einrichtung gegriffen worden ist. Beispiele? Bitte: Induktionskochfeld, Geschirr.

Was noch für die Wohnung spricht? Sie war sauber und ordentlich. Die technischen Geräte funktionierten, sodaß wir sogar unsere neu erworbenen Kleidungsstücke waschen und im feuchtigkeitsgesteuerten Trockner trocknen konnten.

Und zum Schluß noch ein ganz großes Dankeschön an Carlos, der diese Wohnung managt.
Schon vom Zeitpunkt der ersten Kontaktaufnahme an habe ich mich wohl gefühlt, obwohl wir uns nicht kannten. Der Vertragsabschluß per E-Mail in englischer Sprache sowie die sich anschließenden Anreisedetails machten auf mich von Anfang an einen professionellen Eindruck. Dieser Eindruck wurde bestätigt durch die Begrüßung und Wohnungsübergabe durch Carlos. Bei der Abreise konnten wir unsere Koffer länger in der Wohnung lassen, da die nächsten Gäste erst später kamen. Auch hierfür vielen Dank.

Soviel steht fest: Sobald wir wieder nach Barcelona kommen ist diese Wohnung unsere erste Wahl.

Juste parfait

Nous venons de louer pour trois personnes, pour une semaine ce très bel appartement situé à quelques minutes de la Sagrada Familia et de sa station de métro. Il est possible d'y dormir à 5 même si les chambres lit simple sont un peu petites pour des adultes, idéal pour une famille.
L'emplacement est parfait : proche commerces de proximité, parking, transport en commun, quartier sûr, et calme pour cette ville bouillonnante.
L'appartement est super fonctionnel, décoré avec goût. Propre et bien entretenu, la décoration semble récente, pas de faux pas, simplement top. Photos fidèles à l'annonce.
Carlos, le propriétaire s'est montré très disponible avant notre arrivée, malgré la barrière de la langue (il ne parle pas français et nous mal l'espagnol et l'anglais!), il a su nous renseigner par mail avec beaucoup de réactivité à plusieurs reprises sur les conditions de location, l'emplacement, indications pour accès, stationnement le plus proche. Nous l'avons rencontré le jour de l'arrivée et il s'est montré très accueillant, nous indiquant ou faire nos courses, les métros les plus centraux.
Rien ne manque dans cette location : serviettes, draps, savon, lessive... En résumé, que du positif, ne pas hésiter si Barcelone vous tente, cet appart est au top. Je recommande cette location sans aucune réserve.

Lovely apartment!....

The apartment is exactly as you see un the photos. Just lovely!. In a quiet stylish residential building . As well as have as having all the comforts of a well-equipped apartment for a holiday, has a quiet comfortable terrace which looks onto a large courtyard. It is located in a central neighborhood much quieter than the historical center and only a couple of blocks from the impressive Church of the Holy Family. Apartment from this it has a supermarket, restaurants and public transport within walking distance, and it is very easy to get taxis in the street. Thanks Carlos for all your attention and recommendations to change the original period, we definitely hope to return very soon.
