Three hundred feet outside the front door, you can walk down to miles of sandy beaches. Don't want to get sand in your toes? Just in front of the house you will find the '10 Mile Logging Road,' a walking, jogging, biking road for pedestrians only with access directly to Fort Bragg via Pudding Creek Bridge. This is one of the longest stretches of public beachfront in California. Perfect for family bike rides or solo meditation walks. 10 Mile Road to the right leads you through MacKerricher State Park, with wooden boardwalks that guide you to the ocean bluffs, allowing you the opportunity to watch Osprey, Pelicans, Harbor Seals and Sea Lions in the surf. Truly a special place to enjoy nature and its' beauties. To the left you are greeted with miles of isolated sandy beaches, dunes, Inglenook Fen and the nesting grounds for the Sandy Plover.
If by chance you want to leave this ocean escape, nearby is the town of Fort Bragg, Noyo Harbor with boat launches and charter boat fishing, Glass Beach, abalone diving, rock fishing, the “Skunk Line Railroad” with one-half day or day trips. Restaurants are plentiful and shopping is delightful. Weather is Fort Bragg is wonderful. Summers boast pleasant temperatures and winters are moderate.
The grand Pacific Ocean and miles of gorgeous beach are a stone's throw from this beautiful, well-kept home. It was a perfect place for our group's winter retreat. We loved the acoustics as we sang around the large dining table. The home is spacious and accommodated our group wonderfully. The owner was exceptionally kind, gracious, and a real pleasure to work with throughout. The members of our chorus can't wait to return next year.
Our family loves to come and stay at the Seahorse Fin for a few days of relaxation, eating, exploring tide pools, fantastic views, bike riding, and sitting around the fire pit on the deck. It's truly a haven. We have been going there for many years with our kids and grandkids, and hope to for many more to come.
The property exceeded expectations--it was accurate in every descriptive category. We had a multi-generational family party to celebrate our Mother's 90th birthday--9 people, ages 3 to 90 were happily together without any sense of over crowding. The home is spacious, comfortable, well equipped and meticulously clean, not "fussy" but nice--ideal for families with children of all ages. The dining table comfortably seated all of us; kitchen is well equipped. Bikes in the garage were happily used, including the buggy for toddlers. Our adult sons went diving for abalone nearby and brought back limits which they cooked for dinner.
Highlights: finding the seal breeding ground/sanctuary nearby; tidal pools with large star fish; deer that go by the living room window; frequent visits by quail in the backyard. The house is as close to the beach as it is possible to get--nothing blocks views from every ocean facing window. A park backs to the property on one side, and there is another State park nearby. There is easy beach access; it is very quiet-- sounds are waves breaking, occasional birdsong. The deck has comfortable seating and is a lovely place to sit in the evenings. About a mile down the road at the corner of Highway 1 is a convenient market; across the street from the market are stables for horseback riding on the beach; Ft. Bragg is a few minutes away and has virtually everything one could need. We had a fantastic chocolate birthday cake from the Harvest Market Bakery in the Boatyard shopping center. When it was time to go, the 3 year old said "I don't want to go home!" He and his great grandmother had fun working puzzles on the large wooden coffee table, exactly the right height and size for multiple activities. Everyone had a wonderful time and I enthusiastically recommend Seahorse Fin for a lovely beach vacation for people of all ages.
After doing much research, my husband and I decided to spend a weekend with our family in Fort Bragg. We invited our parents to stay at the house with us since this was a 3 bedroom house. My mom did all the cooking because she was in love with the kitchen. My dad had plenty to do outside in the yard with the kids, and my husband's dad had two of the best nights sleep of his life. The beds were comfortable, the house had plenty of room, and the kids loved to be outside playing and have their own space in the "play room". We were very thankful to have such wonderful accommodations. We should of stayed longer!
What an awesome house and a perfect location. We had our family reunion here and it was fantastic. The house is lovely; the kitchen was great...and the grounds were super for all of the kids. You can't get much closer to the beach than this. We will be back!
We had a fabulous time over the Thanksgiving weekend in your home. The weather was perfect, the view from the home was awe-inspiring, and the home was lovely. We spent time combing the beach, and running/riding on the logging trail. The weekend could not have been more relaxing and enjoyable. We can hardly wait to go back!
