Le Contadour is a luxury, romantic self-catering apartment/villa, with grounds covered with olive, and exotic trees. It stands 250m.above the Var valley with uninterrupted views to the Mediterranean beyond. The Medieval village of Gattieres is only 10 mins walk away, with every facility, including 3 restaurants, supermarket and bakers. NICE IS A 20 MIN. DRIVE.. Within the peaceful grounds of the villa is a beautiful private pool surrounded by exotic flowers + BBQ+ pizza oven. The luxury romantic villa/apartment, with seperate entrance, and private terraces, consists of a beamed sitting room furnished with antiques and has south-facing terraces with superb views. An archway leads to a fully equipped kitchen. It opens onto a beautiful private terrace, where one can dine under the ancient olive trees. There are 2 very comfortable, Provencal bedrooms sleeping 4. Both share a luxury shower room. Sat. tv and dvd player - + WiFi internet access available free.

The Italian border is only 45 minutes. drive away with its famous street markets offering copies of designer products, and great restaurants. We are central for visiting the many Medieval, historic, mountain villages, or famous resorts on the Cote d'Azur, such as Nice, with its international crowds, Monaco, and its principality, Cannes, with its famous film festival, St.Tropez, for star spotting, Vence, for its famous artists, Antibes, with its millionair yachts, Villefranche, and St Juan Les Pins...... yet, away from the madding crowds! For those who enjoy sailing, there is a possibility of a day's sail in the Baie des Anges including picnic and wine. (For further information or more details, please do not hesitate to contact the owner of the property). Local ferries operate to the Isles de Lerins from Cannes or Nice. Ski jets can be hired from Cagnes sur Mer. Open air summer opera by professional orchestras take place in Gattieres during July. Daily markets available locally. (Lists and details in the apartment). A Little Piece Of Heaven!

We decided on the South of France for our honeymoon & we were so lucky to find Le Contadour! A Little Piece of Heaven!! Totally breathtaking! You have to be there to totally appreciate what Le Contadour has to offer! You would not be disappointed! We could have stayed there forever! The property is beautiful the description so accurate so very well maintained & clean everything you need is there! You would not get a better couple than Liz & Quentin such a warm heartfelt welcome we received when we arrived and throughout our stay they were the perfect hosts! They were no way intrusive but you knew if there was anything you needed they were always at hand for you. We had a great evening with them good food fine wine and the company excellent! We have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this property! We are looking forward to visiting Le Contadour again!

Although nervous of such a responsibility, we knew that the choice we had made in coming to live here, in this little paradise, would merit every comment made. A Tranquil Corner of Heaven in the South of France

Le Contadour is somewhere very special. Our grown up family have now enjoyed 3 summer holidays there and we plan to return in 2009. The apartment is ideally situated for those who enjoy peace, quiet and total seclusion and yet is within easy reach of the coast.

The property is extremely well maintained. The luxury shower room and kitchen are spotless, beds are clean and very comfortable and the place is furnished to very high standards with all the facilities that you would expect at home.

The pool is kept immaculately clean and is in an idyllic setting surrounded by potted plants, palm tree and olive trees. A private terrace provides an excellent place to eat, drink or sunbathe whilst also offering shade from yet more olive trees.

The owners live on-site and could not be more friendly, helpful or welcoming. Yet at the same time they know when to respect your privacy. They are a fount of knowledge when it comes to providing advice about where best to eat, visit or shop. You would be well-advised to follow-up their suggestions. We have ended up in some lovely places that we wouldn’t have otherwise discovered.

The nearest village is only 10 minutes walk away. It has some very good restaurants, our favourite being Chez Roger in the centre of the old village. There is also a small, well-stocked supermarket as well as an excellent bakery, butcher and greengrocer. Larger supermarkets are only 10 to 15 minutes away by car. Other favourite towns, both of which are home to some excellent restaurants, are Antibes and Villefranche-sur-Mer.

For anyone after a relaxing break in the south of France away from all the hustle and bustle of life on the coast then this is the perfect place for you. There are dozens of small villages in the surrounding countryside within 15 to 30 minutes drive away where you can enjoy a quiet relaxing drink and watch the world go by or sample the local produce from the market. Yet Le Contadour is near enough to Nice, Cannes, Monaco etc. to enjoy some more lively days and nights out.

Ideally you really need your own car. The inland roads are generally quiet, the coastal roads, on the other hand, get very busy in the height of the summer and it is worth considering using trains if you want to explore further afield.

All in all an excellent retreat in which to totally unwind, enjoy some good food, good wine, excellent company and a place to recharge those batteries. Make sure you have a go at cooking your own pizzas!

It has been wonderful for us to spend time with our guests and to share in their family life. We always get a great pleasure out of seeing them return each year.
We are indeed fortunate to live in one of the most beautiful areas on the Cote d' Azur to share with others and to have found a perfect piece of paradise away from the madding crowds!

Me and my family really enjoyed our stay at La Contadour, mix of comfort and original touch and feel of the place was simply perfect. We found absolutely everything there we need and even our little baby felt there as at home. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Owner's Response: It is so good to find clients coming from Prague or other eastern block countries, with their families. We loved sharing moments with them and their little girl. There was no problem with language barriers. We all got on very well together. Even their parents came for a visit one evening and we all had a lovely time sharing a drink or two on the summer terrace overlooking the valley.
