WE JUST HAD A LOOK AT THE TWO REVIEWS written by some of our guests. THEY sum up better our place. Thank You !
TRUE VALUE FOR MONEY. YOU'LL NEVER REGRET.: The house is part of our property and this is an activity to keep us a bit occupied since we both retired last summer.
It is one of 3 premises: an old house called manoir where we live, an independent farm and this house.
It is well located, very quiet and next to a historical city called Bayeux.
It is at 20 mn to the city of Caen by train or car, and 2 hours from Paris by train.
GREAT place. My wife and I wish we could have stayed longer. The apartment was immaculate. We could cook in the apartment. Quiet, peaceful and relaxing. The reviews by others were accurate. We visited all the Normandy sites and had dinner out two night. Both were superb places recommended by our host. A great place to stay. Close to Bayeux but very private and protected. Tres bien.
Two mature couples rented this cottage to use as a jumping off point for visits to the D-Day beaches, Bayeaux, Giverny, Honfleur and Mont St. Michel. The location was perfect, but, better yet, the cottage was cozy, clean and well appointed. It had everything we needed for a one week stay.We enjoyed the privacy and quiet of the surroundings and the close proximity to Bayeaux and its many dining options.
This is my second stay at this property, this time bringing friends who wanted to visit the Normandy area after seeing photos from my previous stay in Sept. 2009.
As before, the accommodations were fantastic as my friends we very impressed with the location and were hard pressed to believe we stayed at such a beautiful, quiet and convenient location, surpassing my friends expectations. As before the owner were very helpful, providing us with information of the area that made our stay just that much better. There is no question that we would stay there again and look forward to a third visit.
We had a wonderful week staying in this delightful cottage. The description does not do it justice. It is situated on 40 acres of beautiful farm land amid large trees. It is very peaceful and private. The only sound to be heard is the birds singing. The cottage is very well equipped and spotless. There is everything there you could possibly need and more besides. The owners were very friendly and helpful but discreet. It is well situated for visiting all the D Day beaches and museums. Bayeux is a lovely town and the tapestry is a must see. We loved Normandy and all it has to offer. Would recommend this property to anyone who wishes to stay in a quality property. The only downside was we had to come back to England!!
Imagine our surprise (We are 3 adult women, my daughter, my sister and myself)when we realized that the property we had rented for our visit to Normandy was located on a lovely, quiet, safe, tree filled estate. The house was very clean and well equiped. Christiane, her husband and daughter were kind and helpful and the location for exploring the area was perfect. The photos do not do the house justice. The whole back wall of the living room is glass and the setting is exactly as described. We enjoyed the back patio with a glass of wine at the end of the day and even explored the walled garden. If you walked to the back fence, you could watch the cows grazing. Our visit was in September, and a number of new calves were born during our stay.
Bayeux, with the cathedral and the Tapestry, is just down the road, and has lots of restaurants. We also visited Arromanches to see the remnants of the artifical WW2 harbor - Port Winston. Longues-sur-mer to see the gun emplacements, the American Cemetary, St Mere Eglise, the Utah Beach Landing Museum and Mont St Michelle. All in 4 days. We learned a lot.
Do not think twice about renting this house. It was a lovely surprise. I would happilly recommend it to friends and family.
The cottage was exactly what we hoped it would be. My son is in a wheelchair and this was ideal for his needs as there was a bedroom bathroom and toilet on the ground floor with easy access. It is very difficult to find appropriate accommodation for him and this was just great. The facilities in the kitchen were excellent and there was ample space to relax and move about in the living area (especially with the wheelchair). The grounds are beautiful, it is quiet and peaceful with no disturbances. The owners are very helpful but leave you to your own devices....they are there if you need them. The location is spot on for touring the area for D-Day history or for the chateaux, scenery etc as Bayeux is pretty much central between Utah in the north and Pegasus Bridge/Merville Battery in the south. The Commonwealth War Cemetery and Memorial at Bayeux is literally a 5 minute drive down the road and yet the house is in a rural location.
It was unfortunate that during our holiday my son was taken ill and spent some time in hospital in Bayeux. I cannot fault the hospital. However what made the difference to us was the kindness extended to us by the owners during this time. They were extremely helpful and supportive .....which made the situation easier to deal with.
My family agrees that we have found a little gem of a place .....and we are hoping to return next year.
