Lefkada (Lefkas) Vacation Rental villa: Katouna

The villa was located just outside main town (approx 4 miles). Town fairly quiet, good supply of restaurants offering traditional cuisine and a mix of bars and ice cream/coffee shops. Costs similar to UK as Euro exchange rate so poor. Roads generally good. Hire Car obtained at airport, very expensive so pre-book!!!

Villa and pool and gardens found in clean and in a generally well maintained condition. The views from main bedroom balcony fantastic. The whole layout of villa and gardens well thought out and keeping old olive trees in landscaping giving shade by the pool which was welcomed as heat wave the week we arrived.

Adequate bedding and towels provided. Maid service (although twice weekly in brochure) misleading as weekly for visitors and again on change-over day. Kitchen space/worktop limited but again adequate for 2 - would be a bit cramped with full capacity.

Had some problems with upstairs air conditioning and the owner when contacted, to be fair did attend to rectify fault but this continued unfortunately making sleeping in
35/40 C heat uncomfortable. Hopefully this is now in good working order!!

Other villa closer than anticipated but fortunately another couple. Each of us respected each others privacy although hedging and vegetation well screened/divided the 2 villas. Would be problematical if small noisy children in either/both villas.

Recommend boat trip to other islands, large vessel with lower deck having air conditioning. It was reasonably priced both the trip itself and food/drink items on board. We stopped at 3 islands and had chance to swim at 2 destinations, one of which was just off the Onassis owned Island which was very interesting.
We very much enjoyed our stay in Lefkada and would return hopefully soon.
