Photos and Description of the Shropshire vacation cottage rental 4 Bedroomed country cottage (dating from the 18th Century) in a small hamlet.

VISITBRITAIN - 4 STAR RATED An attractive cottage with parts dating back to the 17th Century nestling in the small hamlet of Brockton, 5 miles from the quaint village of Much Wenlock. Evergreen Cottage sleeps up to 8 (best suited for 6 adults + 2 children - see BEDROOM INFORMATION). Standing detached, the property boasts a wealth of original features including exposed beams, sloping ceilings, and it has an inglenook fireplace in the main lounge and an old fire place in the snug. The property has been tastefully and fully modernized but it has retained the “feel” of a country cottage in keeping with the local village/rural environment. With open views across countryside to the Clee hills, the cottage is close to the historic Wenlock Edge (an old coral reef, full of fossil evidence of the area’s geological past). In fact many fossils can be seen in the stonework in and around the cottage. There is an old Iron Age fort in Mogg Forest (800 yards above the property).

The hamlet of BROCKTON is ideally placed to allow guests to sample the delights of the Shropshire countryside and heritage. Wenlock Edge, 1 mile, is a Cretaceous CORAL REEF with many varied fossils. There are way marked trails throughout the woods with views over the Edge towards Wales, the Wrekin and Shrewsbury. Much Wenlock (5 miles) is an historic town with links to the Modern Olympics (William Penny Brooks starting a version copied by Baron de Coubertin when creating the modern Olympic movement). The town has trails and historic buildings including the Abbey and many Tudor and Elizabethan buildings. Ludlow (Castle and restaurants), Shrewbury (Tudor buildings) and Bridgnorth (Severn Valley Steam railway, Cliff railway) are interesting towns with many famous buildings and history. Brown Clee hiil, Clee hills, the Long Mynd, the Stiperstones and the Wrekin are all areas of outstanding natural beauty with many Waymarked trails and walks (many run by the National Trust)

3 generation family holiday

Tribal Patriach Surrey UK
Review Submitted: September 25, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
This delightful cottage exceeded all our expectations, it is a real "home from home". There was enough space for children, parents, and grandparents to unwind and relax. It is charmingly furnished and beautifuly decorated. The layout was perfect to enable privacy when required for the two nuclear familys, and common space for the 6 of us to spend quality time together. The garden was just perfect with 4 quite separate areas, and lots of space for the children to play, and grownups to relax. The location is definitly "rural". Check the opening hours of the Feathers pub before making plans, but it is worth a meal there.
I would definitly not recomend this location if you are likely to miss the city life or need to be in 24/7 contact with the office. If however you want real country living this is just perfect.

Long sunny weekend in March

J_L London
Review Submitted: April 3, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
We spent a fantastic long weekend at Evergreen Cottage in late March. The cottage was kitted out with everything we needed, was warm and cosy, and even has a free standing bath! Location is beautiful and also perfect both for "The Edge" activity centre in Much Wenlock and The Feathers restaurant only 2 minutes walk down the road. Would recommend this cottage to others.

Cosy Country Cottage

Torla Berkshire, UK
Review Submitted: March 2, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
We had an enjoyable New Year week at this cottage. It was warm and spacious for the 5 adults and 1 child in our party. Clean and tidy, with tea & biscuits ready for us on arrival. We arrived in the dark but the house was warm and lights on, incl. Christmas tree and fairy lights! Lovely garden, not that we used it as we had snow and -5 degrees when we were there. Central location for sightseeing and walking. Lots of DVDs if bad weather. Beware the beams and low doorways - we had two 6' 3" guys amongst us who went home with a few bruises!

Relaxing holiday in beautiful Shropeshire

4 generations of one family Surrey and Sussex
Review Submitted: February 26, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2008
Cottage provided ALL of our needs, accommodating 4 generations of our family. Could not fault the way the cottage is equipped or the welcome from the Caretaker, next door. An enjoyable and memorable week. Food at Wenlock Edge Inn was excellent, as was the service (and was only just up the road from the cottage).
