Jasmine House is a fully air-conditioned, well furnished, 2 bedroom bungalow adjacent to the large communal swimming pool and children's pool, on the exclusive, gated Gemstone Village development, Choirokoitia.

There are front and rear terraces as well as a fantastic roof top terrace, ideal for sunbathing, BBQ's or enjoying an evening drink whilst watching the sunset over the surrounding hills.

With one double, one twin bedroom, and a large open plan kitchen / dining / lounge area all on one level Jasmine House is ideal for families or those just wanting to relax!

As well as flat screen TV , DVD / CD player and ipod docking station you can stay connected with Internet access via wireless broadband.

There is a family friendly Taverna conveniently situated right next to the development as well as several other bars and restaurants in Choirokoitia and the surrounding villages.

The Larnaca area

The Larnaca area has a long and varied coastline spanning central southern Cyprus, from the beautiful turquoise water and white sand of the east, to the stunning black sand beaches backed by white chalk cliffs in the west.

Inland there are many charming, traditional villages in the foothills of the Troodos mountains, including the picturesque village of Lefkara renown for its' fine handicrafts including filigree silverware and lace.

There are several archaeological sites to explore, many churches some with ancient frescoes or mosaics, and the 4th century Stavrouni Monastery stunningly perched on the edge of a rocky peak.

The region enjoys a Mediterranean climate with hot summers and virtually no rainfall between mid May and mid October - excellent for swimming, sunbathing and a whole range of water sports from sailing to scuba diving. The remainder of the year is mild with many sunny days but an increased likelihood of some rain days - great for walking, cycling and exploring the island as a whole. In spring there are carpets of red anemones and other wild flowers covering the landscape.

The sea is warm from April until November, and is still warm enough for a quick dip during the winter months.

Larnaca has a lovely palm tree lined esplanade, a marina, an atmospheric old 'Turkish quarter' and several attractive Churches and Mosques. It is also a popular centre for scuba diving especially the dive on the wreck of the Zenobia an enormous car ferry which sank in 1980 just outside the port.

Limassol is the largest seaside resort on the island and offers a wide range of activities including winery tours, various museums, a medieval castle as well as many restaurants, cafes and bars. Nearby you will find Fasouri Watermania, one of the top water parks in Cyprus.

The island capital of Nicosia is now the only divided city in the world. It has an attractive medieval quarter at its core, a good range of shops including some trendy boutiques as well as some excellent restaurants. It is also home to the Cyprus Museum which houses one of the best archaeological collections in the Mediterranean. It is possible to cross to Turkish occupied North Nicosia on foot and to explore the Turkish part of the City.

For children as well beaches and water parks, there is a Camel Park which contains various attractions and where you can take a ride on a Camel (an interesting experience!), a Donkey Sanctuary and some good cycling trails.

There are several golf courses on Cyprus including the championship course at Aphrodite Hills set in a stunning location in the hills overlooking the sea. The very reasonably priced course at Vikla is set in the mountains amoungst olive groves and is only half an hour away.

The family run Rainbow Taverna is right next to Gemstone village and serves excellent, reasonably priced meals in a child friendly environment. There are numerous other local restaurants as well as fish tavernas at nearby Zigi.

How to get there:

There are frequent Chartered and Scheduled flights, including low cost airlines, into both Larnaca and Pafos all year round.

Car hire is advisable and is available from all the main players at the airports. Local companies are also available and we can make a recommendation if requested. Costs are reasonable and fuel is cheaper than in the UK.

Driving in Cyprus is a pleasure, traffic is light, you drive on the left, and there is a good motorway system. Journey time from the new Larnaca airport is about 25 minutes and Pafos airport is just over an hour away. In both cases the route is easy and nearly all motorway.

Our Stay at Jasmine House

I stayed in Jasmine House early September this year.

What a wonderful stay we had. The bungalow is stunning. I travelled with my Dad and Niece. The Bungalow is very ideal for children as your terrace is facing the pool and you can always keep an eye on them. You have a king bedroom and 2 single’s in the other room. The facilities are fantastic and if you forget to pack or need something specific – the likelihood is that it is already there!

The owners/staff at the kiosk area are extremely friendly and cater with a small menu for those times that you are feeling a little peckish. The Taverna, a few minutes walk next to the development cooks a fantastic meze! We warmed to the owners of this restaurant throughout our stay as they could never do enough to ensure you felt welcome.

The owner of the Jasmine House was very helpful with our stay and presented us with a guide prior to our stay. This was our bible for the week and led us to some great places. The bookcase in the Bungalow is also packed with many guides. The area caters to all (chilled or outgoing holiday makers)

I would definitely recommended Jasmine House. Mainly to Families and couples. I also would visit again!

Beautiful house and setting

I visited Jasmine House with three of my girlfriend’s for a relaxing week’s holiday at the end of June 2013. We found the house to be set in a picturesque location, on a well-maintained development, immediately overlooking a good sized pool.
The house itself was immaculately presented, with two good sized bedrooms, air conditioning and a very well equipped kitchen! The smaller luxuries such as the iPod docking station, good selection of DVDs and beach towels being provided by the owner were all very useful and really helped to ensure we had everything we needed for our holiday.
Whilst you ideally need a car to explore the island during the day, and for venturing further afield for nightlife during the evenings, there are several quaint towns and villages, very close by, which offer a variety of restaurants, shops and other essential amenities, as well as a sandy beach.
For livelier night time entertainment we visited Limassol where there is a good selection of restaurants, bars and nightclubs, about half an hour’s drive away. The best thing about the location is that once you’ve had enough of the busier tourist areas, you can escape back up to the peaceful surroundings of the house and pool.
The small taverna right by the entrance to the development served us delicious homemade Cypriot meze and various other snacks, and the small restaurant in Tochni, the next village, provided a delicious evening meal on our first night.
Overall, we all came back very well rested (and tanned) and very much enjoyed our stay. Would recommend it to families, couples and small group travellers alike - looking for a relaxing, warm break.

A spacious well presented villa in a group of private properties built around 2 swimming pools and sunbathing areas. An extensive supermarket is a few minutes drive away but the local village shop is adequate for most holiday needs.
Beaches are 10/15 minutes away with a wide choice of good restaurants.
This was our second visit and we found much to explore and enjoy on the island. The weather was warm - 20/25 degrees - (but cooler in the evenings) and we enjoyed a very relaxing break.
We have no hesitation in recommending this to our friends.

Gemstone village is situated on the edge of the traditional village of Choirokoitia (also spelt Khirokitia), about 10 minutes from the local Governors beach and its' watersports and tavernas. Its' stone built houses and small winding streets stand on a ridge with views across the hills and down to the sea. You can follow the nature trail from the village to the UNESCO World Heritage archaeological site of the same name which contains some of the earliest traces of human settlement on Cyprus.

Although enjoying a rural location Gemstone Village is ideally located for exploring the island, being mid way between Larnaca and Limassol (about 25 minutes) and the capital of Nicosia (40 minutes). There is also easy access to the beautiful Troodos Mountains which are popular for their walking and cycling trails and in winter it is possible to ski on Mount Olympus (1952m). The mountains also offer a cooler alternative for a day out during the heat of summer.
