The 17th century house Can Giubert with its large walled Mediterranean garden is situated on the outskirts of the small village of Sant Climent Sescebes (less than 500 inhabitants).We offer a beautifully stylish and modern renovated apartment suitable for 2 to 6 persons within the house with its own private entrance, self-catering and roof terrace. It is an ideal place for people who want to enjoy a quiet and inspiring place, while staying close to all the main attractions this region has to offer.
The interior of the apartment is designed and manufactured by a furniture designer and maker, and is created with care and an eye for detail, using only natural and local materials. Solar panels provide hot water for showers and floor heating.
The spacious and light living room has a roof terrace that has a view of Figueres on one side and the Pyrenees on the other.
Gastronomy and spa: There are several good wine-houses in the area. Among them is one of our neighbours, Marti Fabra, who makes beautiful wines earning him a high ranking from Robert Parker. His most famous red wine is called Masia Carreres and can be bought just over the road.
In the villages surrounding Sant Climent there are good restaurants to be found: among them are Ca la Maria and La reina de Portlligat in Mollet de Peralada, Cal Sagrista in Perelada and Flor de Pagès in Capmany. If you prefer a restaurant with a sea view there is (among others) the restaurant on Platja Garbet (Llança) with its fish specialities or Miramar (Llança), a Michelin star restaurant.
Gastronomic specialities in this region are focused on the combination of mountain and seafood products known as 'mar i montanya'.
One of our other neighbours is a beauty salon. Besides a hairdresser, they offer all kinds of beauty treatments.
France / Castles and monastries: Very near to Sant Climent is the Requesens castle that is situated in the heart of the Albera Natural Park and surrounded by wild nature.The continuous use of the castle has made it possible to preserve the different buildings although they have also suffered some modifications. The last use of the castle was by soldiers from the civil war and it is possible to feel the atmosphere they left.
Vilabertran (near Figueres) was a very important monastery in the midle ages, and a romanesque jewel.
Sant Quirze de Colera is a 12th century monastry nearby Ràbos in plain nature.
Sant Pere de Rhodes, 10th century, near Port de la Selva, has a stunning view over the sea.
Banyuls sur Mer is nearby, and on the French coastline, villages such as Collioure offer you a different entourage and gastronomy.
Ceret has its own 'Museé d'Art Moderne' and many art galleries.
The medieval town of Perpignan also has several interesting museums, not forgetting its cathedral, churches and chapels
The village Sant Climent and things to do: In Sant Climent there is a bakery (wood-oven baked bread), supermarket, chemist, bank, butcher, beautysalon, hairdresser, winehouse, 2 simple restaurants, 3 bars and a garage.
Walking in the direct surroundings of Sant Climent, you can see dolmens and menhirs, impressive megalithic monuments .
In the neighbour-village Espolla (2 km) there is a public outdoor swimmingpool with pinetrees that provide shade.
The historic village of Peralada, with gardens, lake, castle, moat and golf-course and casino is 11 km away. In summer the Peralada festival is famous for its numerous open air music-concerts and dance-performances.
Jazz festivals in Figueres and in the botanic garden at Cap Roig offer concerts at warm summer nights.
In the coast-village Rosas are several activities to visit: a kart-court, aquabrava (a water-paradise-swimmingpool) and a Thalasso-centre.
In Castelló d'Empuries there is a Butterfly Park, in Gariguella the Mediterranean Turtle Centre.
