Photos and Description of the 1st Arrondissement Louvre vacation apartment rental
2 bedroom apartment with balconies at Chatelet in Arr 1, the heart of Paris

If you want to discover Paris on foot, this is the place to be. Our beautiful architect-designed apartment lies in the very heart of Paris at Chatelet in the first arrondissement. Located on the top floor of an 18th -C listed building on a quiet, leafy street opposite one of the city's most romantic flower markets. A ten minute stroll in any direction takes you to famous landmarks including the Seine, Ile de Cite, Centre Pompidou and the Louvre. A bright and airy 'artist's garret' with stunning views, our apartment has been simply modernised whilst retaining its historic features. The living area has a South facing balcony, an inviting sofa area, well-equipped with books, satellite TV, DVDs and CDs, Wi-Fi. We often stay ourselves and love to gather around our big oak dining table. You will enjoy playing chef in the well equipped kitchen and the view of the twinkling river at night certainly takes the edge off the washing up! The apartment is a home from home for us and we hope for you too.

Car: not necessary

Steeped in history, with buildings from the 18th and 19thC on one side and the Theatre Musical de Paris on the other, we are just one block north of the Quai Megisserie which runs across the Seine with bookstalls and flower markets. Place Chatelet with the gilded victory atop a column and surrounding fountains has claim to be the centre of Paris. A 10 min walk South takes you across the bridge to the Ile de Cite and Notre Dame. To the East, the Hotel de Ville; to the North, Centre Pompidou, to the West, the Louvre. We are at the crossroads of all transport: Metro, RER, buses and vélib (street bikes). If, like us, you are passionate about food then this is a great part of the city to base yourself in. One of the country's oldest and most loved gourmet food markets on rue Montorgueil is a short walk away, whilst below our apartment is one of the best boulangeries in Paris. Shopping, sightseeing, cultural entertainments and, of course, great and varied places to eat are within easy reach.

Other Activities: Shopping, museums, theatres, cinemas, antiques, fitness centre.

central and cosy at the same time

Submitted: July 20, 2009 Stayed: May 2009
We had a very nice stay in Paris! Everything worked fine, Mme W. welcomed us at the apartment and explained everything to us, and we were really enchanted by the nice views to Théâtre du Châtelet and the Seine. But in particular my parents and I liked very much the decoration of the apartment that is quite functional and very cosy at the same moment – a combination you can't find very often. (My mother was absolutely enthused about the well organised kitchen cupboards, including the little tags indicating which item had to be where!) Thanks to the very central situation of the apartment we could discover quite a lot of Paris, and even with my old father who is not very quick on his feet anymore we could do some walks to Notre Dame, to the Quartier Latin or to Marais, and for the longer distances we could easily take a cab. So our stay in Paris really was a raving success!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. Like you we enjoy being at home in the apartment, cooking the delicious things the Paris street market offers
and then dining with a view of the river and St Chapelle.
Hope you will be able to return!

Over the rooftops to the river

This charming and cosy apartment immediately felt like our home in Paris. It's lived-in, comfortably-equipped rooms were somehow forgiving, allowing us to relax completely. Even on the grimmest of grey, late winter days, the place was cheerfully illuminated by skylights, antique mirrors and south-facing balconies. Almost everything we needed was here, without making the place feel too cluttered. The joy of the central location cannot be exaggerated in terms of access to cultural, historical and gastronomic treasures. A short walk around the block yielded brioches fresh from the oven, a surprisingly reasonable first edition of a favorite Zola novel, and enough mimosa to fill the flat with extra sunshine. With a Velib station a few steps away, all of Paris is literally at one's feet.

Beautiful Apartment in Paris

4 of 5
Submitted: November 5, 2012 Stayed: September 2012
We just spent 5 days in this apartment and we really loved it. The description is correct in every way. The views are wonderful and it is situated in an excellent area close to many of the great sites of this city. There is everything you could possibly need in the apartment (maybe and extra frying pan would be useful), an excellent coffee maker and a very good washing machine. We were particularly interested in the food of Paris and found a beautiful restaurant just 50 meters from the front door called ‘Terminus du Chatelet’ it served very good French food, not cheap, but worth a visit. It took us some time to find some real food shops other than the supermarket and it’s just a short walk to the corner of Rue Saint-Honore and Rue des Prouvaires where you will find a lovely delicatessen, vegetable shop and butcher. We particularly enjoyed visiting the Saint Chapelle Church which was beautiful and the Cluny Museum with it’s wonderful tapestries.
We would definitely recommend this apartment and would love to stay here again.

Delightful apartment

5 of 5
Submitted: September 23, 2012 Stayed: August 2012
We had a memorable and wonderful holiday at this delightful apartment. We were met at the apartment and given a very thorough introduction, so we knew how to find everything we needed, and how to work all appliances. The apartment itself was as lovely as it looks in the photos, and was set up in a very welcoming way with lots of extras provided. For example, when it rained one morning, there was an umbrella to borrow. This apartment genuinely felt like a home, and that made it really relaxing to stay there. The location was fabulous - we were able to walk to many of the places we wanted to go, such as the Louvre and Notre Dame and there was a Metro entrance just up the road for anywhere further afield. Choosing places to eat out was easy because there were so many great options close by.

Clare, the owner, was a great host and made it easy for us to organise our stay. We would recommend this apartment to any of our friends or relatives looking for a place to stay in Paris.
Owner's Response: Thanks for such a lovely review. Delighted that you caught our purpose : to make guests feel like invited family house guests - ( albeit paying ones to keep us out of debtor's prison) . Come back soon!

Charming apartment in an excellent location

5 of 5
Submitted: January 27, 2012 Stayed: October 2011
This is a lovely, well appointed apartment that has everything you could possibly need. It is clean, has comfortable beds and in-suite laundry available. The kitchen is well stocked. The location is extremely ideal, located near a major Metro hub and is close to many attractions and good restaurants. The bakery right below is excellent with a nearby grocery store as well. I would definitely recommend this charming apartment and will look to stay here again when I return to Paris.
Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your words of appreciation. We, too, find it a marvellous base for our trips to explore Paris. Hope you enjoyed some of the guide books- particularly the volume of "Guided Walks in the First Arrondissement". Creates a bit of spine tingle to realise how many famous figures lived at some time just around the corner!
Come back soon. Best wishes, C and E.
