We recently stayed at this location and would certainly do it again. We were in the area for a family reunion and the location worked perfectly for our needs. There were some minor issues but we were early in the season and I think we caught things not quite ready for the busier summer season. There were some recent remodeling things not quite finished and some yard, outside issues that appeared still in progress...but overall the house, the location and the help we got from Lori, the owner, made this a really good choice for us. When she says there is room for three vehicles..she means just that, the parking is tight and could benefit from some gravel, as we had some heavy rain and it made things pretty messy. Over-all....really good choice for out group of seven adults and one child. Would definitely like to have had the chance to just relax on the really nice outdoor decks. The kitchen was awesome and well stocked with all the utensils and things we needed.
Our family of 8 adults and 2 dogs loved this place! The photos are quite accurate and everyone was comfortable. The 3 private bedrooms on the first floor worked well for 2 couples and my elder brother, with my 2 other sons and I using the bigger room with 3 beds on the 2nd floor- lots of quiet and privacy when we wanted. The 2 living rooms plus dining area gave us lots of flexibility for inside activities, all together downstairs, in 2 groups or everyone doing their own thing. Although the lake was cold in this preseason time, we loved the 5-minute walk to the beach and the ease of launching our boat there, as well as some sailboarding (with wetsuits!).
We enjoyed the 1/2 mile walk to the village several times, whether for ice cream, seafood or fireworks on the lake, and I enjoyed the live music along the waterfront and many nighttime choices. Our 3 cars fit snugly but easily in front of the house. We fished, rode horses, hiked, rode go-karts, played laser tag, and had plenty of family time in the cozy house as well. Our best food experiences were the Gaslight Bar & Grill (formerly Smokey Joe's) where we loved the barbeque and local brews (eggplant fries? Amazing!), Ali Baba's for great Mediterranean food, the little fresh seafood place in the village, 3 or 4 doors north on Canada Street from the Lake George Tourist Info Center at the corner of Beach Rd., and Ben & Jerry's a couple of doors up from that. The Lobster Pot was pricey, but served huge portions of food.
Our only problems with the house resulted from renting at the very last moment, and just before the village "opened" for the summer. There were repairmen working on the house deck, roads closed for re-paving, and the owner seemed a bit preoccupied and less responsive than other reviewers reported. But all in all, the house was near perfect for us, Lori was flexible in a pinch, and we were happy to find this place on such short notice.
This house met and exceeded my expectations. With 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 2 large living rooms there was plenty of room for everyone to enjoy themselves without feeling overcrowded. Even though we didn’t use the outside decks as much as I would have liked too, (weather dropped into the 40’s) I can imagine having a deck on each floor would be a great place to hang out in the summer or in warmer weather…
Lori was very helpful and I would recommend this house to anyone visiting Lake George.
In all honesty, we could not have asked for a better house to rent over July 4th weekend. It is the perfect distance from town; long enough to be able to appreciate the pristine lake, but short enough as to not be spent by the time you get to town in the middle of the summer (7-10 min walk). I went with nine other 25 year olds, there was plenty of space and the revamped kitchen appliances made cooking a breeze. I strongly recommend for anyone looking for a great spot virtually next to the beach.
PS - Lori gives great bar/restaurant advice.
The house was perfect for our 2 families to share. The sleeping areas are seperated enough from common areas. The house is within walking distance to the village and beach areas which was added benefit. Parking was a little tight for 3 cars, but once we figured out it was easy to manage.
The house was clean and comfortable and had updated appliances in the kitchen. We would recommend this property to friends and family.
We rented a boat from Snug Harbor Marina South and found the experience exceptional. The staff was professional and provided exceptional experience for time. We recommend them to other family with us and they were able to rent boat and had similar experience.
Also we would recommend dining at Raintree restaurant on 9N. We had great experience at dinner with my wife and 3 children.
