Alcossebre Vacation Rental apartment: Alcossebre

Just returned from a week here. The apartment is lovely, placed in a really nice complex with two pools and two tennis courts (paddle tennis not full size by the way).
The kitchen is equipped with everything you could possibly need right down to a garlic press!
There is a huge absence of noise, so untypical of most Spanish appartment blocks and we slept like logs every night.
If Irish bars and Sky sports are your thing, then Alocssebre is not for you. On the the other hand, if authentic Spanish cuisine and trying to muddle your way through with a combination of Spanish and French is, then book this appartment straight away. The staff in the restaurants bent over backwards to help us understand the menus and brought out the most marvellous fish, paellas (about 7 different kinds) and meats we had ever seen. Our favourite restaurant was El Arenal on the beach front. There is a lovely walk from the road at the bottom of the appartment right along a wooden walkway to Alocssebre harbour which takes about 40 mins at a nice pace. Plenty to see in the area - Peniscola, the parrot zoo and the water park at Benicassim would be good choices.
We would recommend a car just to mke it easier to nip out for fresh fruit and bread each day.
Romana beach is delightful with little picnic tables available if you wanted to picnic. Sun beds are available for hire on the beach.
We flew to Valencia which was about 1 and 1/2 hours away and the journey is no problem at all.
Would highly recommend this villa and certainly Alcossebre as somewhere nice and Spanish, a world away from high rise destinations further down the coast.
