What a delight to be able to see England for the first time from the perspective of Little Bucksteep. The setting is so relaxing, beautiful and so easy on the eyes and ears. I have enjoyed listening to the birds waking up in the morning and closing down the day. A more relaxing outing I can’t imagine than the time spent in the cottage with friends I love. Close to airports, ferries and London. Set in beautiful countryside, with lovely old pubs. Very generous use of private pool and tennis court. Bikes for hire on the property. Glyndebourne is close by with world class opera. Beautiful gardens abide in this part of Sussex. If the pool becomes dull, the beach is within an hours drive too.
The Oast is special because it is old and beautiful and we have tried to furnish it in character with lovely old pieces, together with beautiful Egyptian cotton bed linen. The open plan dining room/ kitchen is a lovely large sunny room and flooded with light. Guests have very generous use of a private swimming pool and tennis court. The huge 4 poster bed in the top roundel bedroom is a gorgeous luxury.
We also offer luxury pampering weekends which incorporate fantastic Lotte Berk Exercise classes, the original ballet barre exercise method, together with massage and beauty treatments.
4 bicycles on the property which guests may rent during their stay.
It was a real recreation staying at the Oast House and we enjoyed it enormously. Just two trips were possible with our kids (Brighton and London), because they didn't want to leave these wonderful surroundings, the pool and the well equipped house. Thanks for being such nice hosts, for your tasty apple juice and for Monty's visits at our terrace...
We spent wonderful holidays in England, with a home and a view that made us feel like being in a painting (see the photos..), Best wishes to you from Aachen
The Oast House is a charming building, nicely furnished, well-kept and comfortable. The large kitchen/dining/sitting room is wonderfully light and spacious, with views over the gardens. French windows lead out to a south-facing patio and private garden where one can eat outside. The owners are friendly and very helpful, dealing quickly with any query or request.
There are many attractions within easy reach, particularly for those who are interested in early 20th Century literature, art and architecture. We enjoyed the De La Warr Pavilion, the Towner Art Gallery, Monk's House, Charterhouse, Berwick Parish Church, Batemans, Sissinghurst and Birling Gap.
The lovely Oast House is unique and offers a wonderful holiday with its own heated pool and tennis courts for the active. Gorgeous peaceful setting with all mod cons - everything is done to a very high standard. Owners Robert and Fiona are the perfect hosts with their adorable dalmation, Monty. This was our second visit in three years and hopefully not our last. So many attractions to interest the whole family, within easy driving distance. A truly complete holiday in every sense.
This was our second visit in three years to the wonderful Oast House. This in itself should indicate just how much we love this property The house is unique with oceans of space for families. (our's consisted of Grandad and Granny and three young grandaughters The pool was super and so warm even in late August. The house has everything that you could need and our hosts Fiona and Robert could not be more welcoming. Where is else could you find your own pool and tennis court and small orchard right outside, and beautiful scenery everywhere. Plus there are many local attractions, from Brighton Pavillion, Drusilla's Zoo (fabulous) Hirstmonceau (a must visit for all the family),Eastbourne and many other great places not too far away. You will return I guarantee! We tell everyone just how great this holiday is!
When we booked these holidays we were a little skeptical:
Is it not always raining in England? Is it warm enough for a pool? Does such a house like the one pictured really exist?
"Our" Little Bucksteep Oast has surpassed everything. The location, the surroundings and the house make you feel like being right in a painting or in one of the films that run as "Rosmanude Pilcher Romance" on German television. One can hardly believe that such a property really exists. We had two wonderful sunny weeks with 26 ° C - no rain, just in one night. It was absolutely relaxing and a dream for the children . Therefore, we were able to persuade them only with difficulty, to make small excursions - they would rather stay at the Oast House and its conveniences.
Thanks again to you excellent hosts, Fiona and Robert, for your hospitality and the little touches, especially the homemade apple juice. Salute to Monty Dog, the children miss him. Best wishes from Germany and see you again!
We chose Little Bucksteep Oast for our holiday because of it's proximity to Glyndebourne, several National Trust properties and interesting walking country. We found a beautiful house in a stunning location providing us with everything we could have asked for. The house itself is very well equipped, large, light and spacious, with beautiful, yet comfortable furnishings, all of a very high standard and immaculately clean. The heated swimming pool and tennis court were a luxurious bonus. At the end of very busy days it was so pleasant to return to the house and enjoy a glass of wine in the garden. Sadly, we didn't meet Fiona and Robert as they were away on holiday for the duration of our stay, however, Nikki, who was looking after the property, was very friendly and on hand to answer any further questions we might have had. Fiona was a great help when booking and answered all our questions promptly. We all hope to return again soon.
We had a lovely weekend celebrating Grandad's 70th Birthday at the Oast. The cottage was very spacious for 7 of us and very well equipped (which is unusual for holiday rental kitchens!). We also found the beds and quality bedding very comfortable. The children loved the swimming pool and spent hours having fun in it due to us being blessed with such great weather. Our hosts were very welcoming and the children fell in love with Monty the dog!
