Vila Real Santo Antonio is a border town sat on the Guadiana River that seperates Portugal from Spain. It dates back to around 1762. It was completely re-built at this time, by the Marques de Pombal, since it was totally destroyed in 1755 by the tsunami which followed the devastating earthquake of 1755. A real historical town, thriving and offering an abundance of restaurants, shops and bars, set along cobbled enchanting streets.

A great location to visit 2 countries so close together, a place with real history, churches, ruins and lots more to see and do.

Tavira Town: One of the nicest laidback places to visit is Tavira, 3 km (2miles) East of Santa Luzia. It is very easy to lose track of time in Tavira, a lovely old town with a long history where time stood still. You can spend hours strolling the charming cobblestone streets with it's many restaurants, shops, bars and terraces to enjoy a refreshment in the sun. The old palace is nearby and the beach of Ilha de Tavira is within walking distance and has many small restaurants. A visit to the recently renovated Pousada (Inn) is recommended. This is a very nice destination all year round. During the summer months there is a boat ferry from the centre of town, opposite the Happy Homes office, going to Ilha de Tavira and Quatro Aguas.

Notes

  • Specific booking conditions:
    A non-refundable deposit is due on reservation equal to 20% of the rent. The balance is due 6 weeks prior to your stay. For bookings made less than 6 weeks of arrival date, the total amount is due on booking.

    Saturday to Saturday Bookings preferred, although we aim to be flexible during peak season (July/August).
    Occupancy level stated and agreed at time of booking cannot be exceeded. Failure to abide by this will result in immediate termination of the rental and requirement to vacate the premises. No refund will be offered for breach of the terms of the contract.
    Payment can be any of the following: by card, cheque or bank transfer.
    No pets.
    Strictly no smoking except on the balcony and terrace areas.
    There is a lift in many of the apartment buildings, be sure to confirm lift access in the one you choose.
  • We strongly recommend all independent travellers obtain adequate insurance with cancellation cover before their journey.

    Deposit required as security against damages - which will be via credit/debit card reading.
    Note, small accidental damages such as a glass or a cup will not be charged but if you could either replace it or let us know, we can make sure all is complete for our next guests.
  • Kitchen: A fitted kitchen, offering good facilities for self-catering, with hob, oven, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, most have a microwave and offer access to the utility area. With granite worktops, tiled floors and storage space.
    Lounge- Dining Room: Large living space offering dining table, chairs and settee's, with some offering a bed settee facility. All have TV, some have DVD/CD and Sky packages. Generally these rooms lead onto the balcony or terrace area which over-looks the pool.
    Bedrooms: There are three large bedrooms, with fitted wardrobes and bathroom facilities. Access to both balcony and terrace can be gained.
    Bathrooms: Two good sized areas, the main bathrooms offers a bath, shower, sink, toilet and Bidet, whilst the second bathroom offers a shower, toilet and sink. One is positioned as an en-suite, whilst the second is accessible for guests.
