Crown Cottage is a period property which has been recently renovated, situated right in the centre of Woodstock. It has a fully fitted kitchen, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The cottage has three floors and full gas central heating. Woodstock itself has a superb selection of restaurants and pubs - if you enjoy eating out, you'll be spoilt for choice; The Kings Arms, Kings Head, Star, Woodstock Arms, Blenheim Buttery, Bear, Jaan, Chef Imperial, Feathers, Black Prince, La Galleria, Brothertons... GOOD LUCK! ...and the cottage is only a few metres away from the gates of Blenheim Park where Blenheim Palace is situated.
Blenheim Palace is the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, Britain's most famous 20th century Prime Minister, and currently the home of the 11th Duke of Marlborough. Woodstock is also an excellent base for visiting the beautiful Cotswold's, Oxford's historic colleges (only 8 miles) and William Shakespeare's birthplace, Stratford upon Avon.
More about Woodstock: Woodstock is a thriving town which grew up as a coach stop on the road north, then around the Royal Hunting Lodge which became the site of the magnificent Blenheim Palace, home of the Dukes of Marlborough since the early 1700s. At the centre of Woodstock is 'Market Place' where the Town Hall is to be found. Park Street goes towards the 'Town Gate', one of the entrances to Blenheim Palace. On the way you pass the Parish Church of St Mary Magdalene, which has been at the spiritual and geographical heart of Woodstock for a thousand years. With the Town Hall at the apex, a triangle is formed with High Street on one side, Market Street on the other and Oxford Street at the base.
Places to go: Oxford which is just a few miles away boasts many large stores, restaurants and bars and, of course, it's world famous colleges. Or you can take in a film at one of the City's cinemas. Shopping is excellent in the City with many leading brands having a store there. Woodstock is on an excellent bus route with regular buses to and from Oxford. Many of our guests also visit London which is an easy drive or there's an excellent bus link.
Bicester Village, the world famous 'Outlet Shopping' venue is a short drive away and sells famous brands and discount prices such as Armani, Ralph Lauren, Pal Zileri, Pail Smith, Jimmy Choo, Mulberry, Versace and many, many more.
Blenheim Park hosts many events throughout the whole year including Music Concerts, The Blenheim Park International Horse Trials, Craft Fairs and many Exhibitions.
Lovely quaint original stone built property in delightful village. Right in the middle of the village, easy walk to Blenheim Castle. It was really clean and had all appliances etc you could wish for.
Highly recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the area.
An immaculate cottage with everything you could possibly need. The owner couldn't have been more helpful. Woodstock is beautiful and the cottage is within easy walking distance of Blenheim Palace. The local supermarket is open 7 days a week and late, the local shops are lovely, there is a variety of excellent takeaways and restaurants and it's not too far from Bicester Village. Our family had a perfect weekend away, can't wait to book again.
My family (2 adults 2 young teenage children) really enjoyed staying in this cosy, comfortable and immaculate cottage, which is exactly how described on the website. It is ideally located, being in the heart of Woodstock and therefore within steps of galleries, gift shops, supermarket (open long hours), baker, pubs (would recommend Sunday lunch at Woodstock Arms) and restaurants and takeaways...every excuse not to cook! Blenheim is of course very convenient, as is the free Oxfordshire Museum and, with buses to Oxford, the only reason to get in the car really is to explore the lovely countryside or to move the car....as the only down side of being in the centre of Woodstock is that parking is time limited near the cottage. It is a small inconvenience though given all the other advantages you will enjoy when you stay here.
We decided to make a "last minute holliday" to visit our daughter in Oxford. On the internet I found this wonderfull cottage in the centre of Woodstock, 10 minutes from Oxford. A little village with several restaurants and a beautifull Blenheim Castle, with famous gardens and landscape. The cottage was well equiped for 5 persons. The only missing facility was wireless internet. At arrival we felt very welcome, so let surprise you. The landlady was very helpfull and we will recommend this cottage to everyone who likes the countryside nearby a lively Oxford and about an hour from London.
Crown Cottage is in the centre of Woodstock, an ancient market town in Oxfordshire, England. 8 miles North West of Oxford, Woodstock is well placed as a base for visiting the Cotswolds, Stratford-upon-Avon (the birth place of William Shakespeare) and London and is also within easy reach of Oxford and it's colleges and superb shops. Woodstock has long been known for it's manufacture of gloves and the town dates back to Anglo-Saxon origins. At one time Woodstock had a Royal Palace which stood in what is now Blenheim Park, the seat of the Duke of Marlborough. Today Woodstock has some excellent pubs and restaurants, many small and unique shops and antique galleries plus a bank, chemist and well stocked supermarket for your everyday needs. Crown Cottage is, of course, an ideal location for the many Blenheim Park events that take place throughout the year, see the Blenheim Park website for details.
