The apartment "The Violin" is located in Via Po, a few meters from the historic center of Cremona. The center is dominated by one of the most beautiful squares in 'Italy Piazza Duomo, where you can see the famous Torrazzo, the highest bell tower in stones from all over Europe, on which you can climb to enjoy a breathtaking view of the city. Among the streets of downtown you can see old shops of luthiers, where craftsmen build their violins. In the city hall is located a collection of the creations of the greatest violin makers such as Antonio Stradivari and Andrea Amati. The historic center is a little gem full of views that seem to bring the visitor back in time, you can choose to visit the museums or even just sit at an outdoor table to enjoy a cappuccino. Cremona is a good base for visiting other cities in the immediate vicinity: Milan, Mantua, Brescia, Piacenza and Lake Garda.
This Cremona apartment is wonderful! Exceptionally clean and well organized with plenty of towels and sheets and cooking implements. Walking distance to a couple wonderful shops (meat, cheese, wine) and a great vegetable/fruit stand. Walking distance to the center of Cremona and very close to the convenient bus stop.
Marco is an excellent landlord - he picked us up at the train station and drove us there at the end of our stay and even provided bicycles for us! We asked if Marco had an iron and within hours he had gone out and bought one for the apartment!
I would stay there again in a heartbeat!
Great experience. Marco met us on time and was very helpful. The apartment is quiet, clean and comfortable. Parking right outside block. It was easy to walk to the centre of Cremona - a lovely town.
Marco, the owner, thought of everything when he converted, furnished, and provisioned this wonderful little loft apartment. My husband and I, along with our 10-month-old, stayed here for two nights. We'd come to relax and see Cremona and its violins, and this apartment played a big part in making the trip so pleasant. Marco picked us up (and dropped us off) at the train station. When we arrived at the apartment, we found that he'd bought us some food and ground coffee to last us the first few days and left us a few bus tickets and visitors guides and maps (we added to the collection of both when we left). For at-home amusement, there were several dozen books, and a TV and DVD player, along with several decent DVDs. We cooked breakfast and dinner at home using the stove and oven, and found everything that we needed -- knives, cutting boards, mugs, macchinetta, cutlery, pots/pans, napkins, and plates and bowls. There were also plenty of linens and towels. We found it so much better supplied than many of the other "fully equipped" apartments we've rented in Italy. It was cold during our visit -- the heating works well. And, needless to say, the place is immaculate. About 4 blocks from the apartment, there was a fruit/veggie store, a salumeria, and another food shop, from which we were able to get the basics. The bus stop is just around the corner from these shops. We highly recommend the place for a short stay, and imagine that a long stay wouldn't be so difficult, either.
We would definitely recommend this apartment for visitors to the lovely city of Cremona. It is about a 4 block walk to the bus stop in a quiet residential area. Very clean and well maintained. The owners were very helpful and very kind. The loft bed was comfortable. The couch is ok for a younger person. Kitchen was fully equipped with essentials.
