Set in the middle of our Andalusian fruit farm just a short distance from the Costa del Sol, the apartment has fabulous views over the neighbouring countryside. We’re surrounded by citrus groves (pick your own fruit!) and we’re very close to the bustling town of Coín; shops and restaurants are only a kilometre away. Why choose Casa Romana?: Our holiday home has been purpose built for use by our family and holiday visitors. It is unlike the average country property in that it has marble floors and granite work surfaces and is furnished to a high standard. It is fully equipped for everyday living, and as we live next door, you can ask us for any help or advice you need. The accommodation includes free wifi - with the big plus of a wonderful climate and peaceful surroundings.

Coín is just half an hour to the coast and Marbella and is the perfect centre for enjoying the beauty of the Andalusian culture and countryside. The coast has many great attractions, while near Coín you can enjoy hill and mountain walks, riding, tennis and golf. Ronda, Granada, Córdoba and Sevilla are all within easy reach.

Coín is set in the green and fertile valley which is the garden of the Costa del Sol. The views are spectacular and the region offers the visitor a perspective of the real Spain which is so different from the lifestyle of the coastal strip. Here you can enjoy the best of all worlds; the beaches, water parks and the attractions of the coast, while living in rural peace.

A beautiful setting for the villa. We very much enjoyed our stay here. Can't think of a single thing the kitchen lacked! It was lovely to sit on the terrace most evenings and we were amazed at the temperatures for the time of year. Many thanks for your kindness in driving us to a doctor when Sam was ill. Because of his illness we were not able to make use of the pool - but we will next time! Thank you both once again for your hospitality and for the thoughtful gift on the morning of my birthday! Hope to see you again soon.

An idyllic location

We found Casa Romana to be in an idyllic location, with beautiful views over the Andalusian countryside. The property is set in the owners’ fruit farm; we were able to pick our own fresh oranges every morning, make orange juice in the supplied electric citrus juicer and drink it on the terrace overlooking the orange groves.

The owners were very hospitable, the typed sheets of information about the property and the recommendations on sightseeing, restaurants, local supermarkets and shops were most welcome as was the homemade marmalade and cava.

The property was clean, tastefully decorated and exceptionally well equipped including a dishwasher, a television receiving British terrestrial channels, DVD player, a sound system we could plug our MP3 player into and shelves full of books both fiction and helpful travel, recipe and language books, as well as maps and leaflets on attractions close by and further afield. There was also a free WIFI Broadband connection and we found the laptop we hired from the owners to be very helpful to research sightseeing locations as well as keeping in touch with home. It is also possible to swim in the owner’s pool but we did not use it ourselves.

Although the views from the terrace are rural, the town of Coin is close by (we walked in a couple of times) with a range of supermarkets, shops and restaurants. There are at least 3 excellent restaurants within walking distance in the cool of the evenings; The Bohemia, El Fogon de Antonio and Casa Paco. We can also recommend the Hostal Santa Fe on the far side of Coin.

The location was only about 35 minutes from Malaga Airport and ideal for sightseeing. Trips to Granada (book in advance for the Alhambra!) and Gibraltar were about 2 hours by car and the spectacular drive to Ronda should take less than an hour if you don’t stop to take photos at every opportunity as we did! We also visited Seville, using the new Avant fast railway link direct from Malaga. Also, of course, the many and varied attractions of the Costa del Sol are only about 40 minutes away.

We have since bought our own electric juicer to keep at least a small part of our holiday experience alive!

Just back from our fifth visit to Casa Romana feeling totally relaxed and de-stressed. The apartment is on the outskirts of Coin, a rural Spanish town about 40 minutes from Malaga airport. A pleasant walk into town. there are many restaurants,bars and supermarkets therefore no need to drive to Malaga for supplies. The accommodation is fully equipped inside and out for everyone's needs and we made very good use of the juicer on a daily basis for oranges picked from the garden. There is an abundance of other fruit including avocados to enjoy.

Coin is ideally situated to explore the coastal towns of Marbella, Fuengirola and Estepona and inland Andalusian cities of Granada and Seville.

Kristina the owner is very approachable and helpful without being obtrusive. It is very reassuring to know she is at hand for any assistance if required.

We are booked again for later this year and look forward to visit number 6.

Sadly not for us.

Not what we were looking for. We never used the pool, as it was located away from the holiday rental and in front of the main house - due to a family bereavement during our stay we felt that it was not appropriate to impose. The neighbour's dog barked day and night, which was obviously out of the owners control, but nevertheless extremely disruptive. The cleanliness of the rental also needed attention, but we know we visited during a difficult time and didn't feel comfortable mentioning it.

On the positive side the fruit trees outside were beautiful and we loved squeezing our own orange juice. The kitchen was also very well stocked and the local supermarket superb. We have taken a long time to post this review, but have felt on retrospect that these issues needed to be raised.

Ideal location, worth a visit.

We had a truly, wonderful,relaxing break. The apartment was great and very well equipped with excellent wi-fi connection.

This was our first visit to that part of Spain, but hopefully it will not be the last.

The views were spectacular. A big thank you Kristina, the owner, for giving us our privacy. We knew she was there if needed.

The plaza in the centre of Coin was a good place for lunch and there are many good and reasonably priced restaurants to eat in the evening.

We do hope to return sometime next year.

Not what it says on the tin!

The pictures on this and other websites of the property and it's "accessories" are very misleading,the property itself was clean but all the "accessories"(outside and inside furniture and sunbeds) were very tired and dated and the table parasol was broken!.

The meet and greet put us right off..."This is where you will sunbathe"(concrete corner we called it)..."This is the way you will walk to the pool,and you are not allowed to sunbathe by the pool and you are not allowed to use the bottom steps to go back as they are private"....add the fact that we quickly realised and saw that the way to walk to the pool was the on site two dogs toilet,we never used it once in two weeks!!.Next door is a spanish finca with the national flag flying,there is a barred window stone hut to the side where two dogs are locked up day and night only being let out occasionally,if you enjoy constant howling and barking on a daily and nightly basis then this is the place for you!,we literally left on the last day leaving the property clean and tidy with the keys in the door without saying goodbye..never to return!.

Very disappointing,would not recommend this property to a friend or relative at all.

Coin itself is a dreary place, Alhaurin el Grande just up the road is far more lively and enjoyable with plenty of good restaurants and bars for an evening out, the inland lakes at Ardales are beautiful to visit for a day, and Marbella and Malaga are only an hour away in either direction so there is plenty to do and see.

Owner's Response: I am sorry to hear that clients of mine are dissatisfied. My main problem is that nothing was said during the visit. I always replace faulty things and I have a store full of parasols! As the table and chairs are of wood, I only oil them. They take on a silvery grey. The furniture is one year old. I am always willing to rectify anything I can and look forward to meet new clients, as I have met so many wonderful people. Kristina
