I stayed at this apartment for 4 nights with my wife & 2 children (aged 16 & 12). Firstly the whole booking procedure was very easy with the owner (Ray) responding very promptly to all email enquiries.
Directions to the apartment were very clear & we found the place easily. We were met on arrival by Ray who provided a very comprehensive introduction to the apartment, the surrounding neighbourhood & to downtown Manhatten. He even gave us a mobile phone (pre-programmed with his number) in case we got into difficulties - please note we loved NYC & never once felt threatened.
The apartment was scrupulously clean, well appointed & generously sized. The photographs on the website don't really do the place justice, take our word for it the place is excellent.
The master bedroom is brilliant & the bed very comfortable. All the bed linen & towels were provided & were of very good quality. The local neighbourhood is full of all the things you need (grocery stores, take away food, cafes, banks etc). During the day it was busy & cosmopolitan. At night it was even more lively, with a large group of locals (both young & old) congregating on the corner to chat, sing, play music & fire up the BBQ. If you are looking for a quiet, romantic getaway this might not be the place for you but we loved it & we never ever felt anything other than 100% safe even quite late at night. The music outside went on until 11pm most nights but it was never so loud as to provide much nuisance. We really liked the flexibilty of the apartment (a seperate bedroom for the grown ups) & two additional beds in the living area so both our kids could have their own beds without having to share.
Travel into downtown Manhatten was very easy, the subway just 2 bocks away (5 mins walk) & we could be in Times Square in 15-20 mins. The 7 day Metro Pass - unlimited subway & bus travel (as recommended by Ray) is superb value.
Really we could hardly fault the apartment or its location. Ray was a fantastic host & certainly helped us get the most out of our stay. He was flexible in letting us arrive early on the first day to drop off bags so we were free to go explore the city. On out last day he helpful let us stay a wee bit longer while I went into town to organise some car hire. We really appreciated this flexibility & fely like Ray really valued our custom.
We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this apartment to anyone thinking of visiting NYC (including friends & relations).

Owner's Response: My guests visited during the July 4 Independence Day week-end. There were neighborhood BBQs and street fairs all over the city. It is traditionally a noisy week-end.
The neighborhood is ordinarily quiet and family oriented. In fact, my apartment has often been used for romantic getaways, including weddings, birthdays, anniversaries.
NYC is an exciting city. Come enjoy everything!
