Everything about this charming in-town house was perfect for our recent family vacation to Norway. We had 6 adults sharing the 3 bedrooms. There is a beautiful, big dining room with a stupendous table - the perfect place for mealtime gatherings. The house was spotless and charmingly appointed. The kitchen was small, but efficient, and we found ourselves hanging out there often. The washer and dryer came in handy, and having a parking place was perfect for us as we had a rental car. Across the street is a very well-stocked mini-market. The neighborhood is attractive with restaurants (Pascals was great) and other amenities within a few minutes walk. Unni, the owner, was very nice and easy to work with - she met us, then left us alone, but was available via text or phone if we needed her. One word of caution - the shower is a bit splashy and slippery, so be alert - a rubber mat would be helpful. That said, if we return to Oslo, we will definitely be giving Unni a call and hope her lovely home is available!
The house is beautiful. If you want a real villa experience, this is the lace. The gardens were really nice and the whole house had a great feel to it. Very large dining room topped it off.
One feels at home as soon as you enter this lovely house. This was our first trip to Norway to visit our cousins. My daughter, grandchildren and I made lasting memories here with family. The owner, Unni, was welcoming and friendly. I look forward to our next visit, for this is truly your home away from home.
Staying there to discover Oslo was perfect. The house is wonderful, easy to find and very well located. I would come back without any hesitation.
We had a wonderful time in Oslo and we loved to stay in Unnis house. She recomended us a lot of restaurants and places to go. We are coming back!
We were very lucky to find this beautiful and welcoming house right near the center of Oslo, at about 15 mn by bus.
The living room and dining room are just amazing and at once, you feel at home.
All the bedrooms are really nice, big and well decorated. The only negative point would be for the bedroom for which you have to go through the bathroom. The beds were a bit too soft and the steam from the bathroom come into it.
But the rest is so great that you tend to forget about the details.
Really fantastic address for a first stay in Oslo
During winter there is only a short trip to an eldorado for cross country-snow board or down hill skiers. During summer you can just hang out in the popular park, nearby shopping and dining aera or walk to the city centre in 15 minutes. From here you can take a short ferry trip to the Viking Ships Museum, the Folk Museum and the Kon Tiki Museum at Bygdøy. Or go swimming at Bygdøy’s popular beach Huk. Or you could go out to one of the islands for swimming or sightseeing. Many museums (Edvard Munch, Gustav Vigeland Park & Museum etc) and the beautiful new Opera is in the centre. Oslo has quite a hectic nightlife with bars, music clubs and restaurants to cater for any taste. And during the summer there is only a few hours of darkness. Temperatures in summer vary between 16 to 25 but can reach 30 degrees centigrades. During winter temperatures vary between minus 1 to minus 15 centigrades.
