Wonderful Location! Cozy Home!

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed this cottage so much! Our family, 2 adults, 2 sons, had a great week in Brandon. This house is cozy and warm and we were instantly on vacation here. This is a true farm house with cats and sheep about which we loved. Janet and Eamonn were lovely people through and through. Our two favorite things about this house were the turf fire and the books. The book collection in this house was absolutely wonderful. Every evening each family member had a nose in a different book with the turf fire going. Books mostly about Ireland, shipwrecks, Blasket Islands, etc. We would read about it, get excited and then go out and explore it the next day. Our boys really enjoyed reading about such things and then going to the sites. Janet's honey and eggs were wonderful. Strongly suggest you go to the little bakery in town and get the Irish Soda bread. With Janet's honey it was better than any cake!

Owner's Response: We are delighted Wren's Old Cottage was warm and cozy for your stay. The scent and comfort of the turf fire is a joy to many of our guests. We have an excellent collection of books on the Dingle Peninsula, local Cloghane/Brandon area, natural history as well as novels. There are a number of shipwrecks to be explored on the Peninsula. The flora and fauna surrounds the cottage and the Dingle Way walk is outside the door. The cottage is situated on the Wild Atlantic Way drive. Bacus Bakery is situated in the local shop in Cloghane Village and is a daily must for visitors and locals.

A wonderful holiday was had by all!

  • 5 of 5
The views, the hospitality, the friendliness, the fantastic beaches, the scenery…oh the list could go on and on! We were 6 ( two adults and 4 kids) with a dog, this isn´t our first visit to Brandon or our first experience with Janet and Eamon so we knew what was waiting for us and weren´t disappointed! The weather was lovely, the kids were swimming, fishing, pier jumping and hiking. The house was for 6 people adequate, although when the weather is good the kids have enough to do outside. We enjoyed an ever changing view of Brandon mountains and the sea every morning, we used to sit on the bench outside the house a cup of tea in one hand and a camera in the other discussing our plans for the day. Wren Cottage is wonderfully situated, Janet and Eamon are perfect hosts. You´re greeted on arrival and during your stay with friendliness and warmth that makes you feel right at home, we loved our two weeks in Brandon! Thanks again Janet and Eamon it´s always a pleasure, looking forward to next year already :-)

Great!

The cottage is nice, authentic and cosy, the turf fire in the evening adding an extra touch.
There is grass in front for the kids to play and they could come with us in the field next to the cottage where the sheeps are grassing and a little river is running: that was really super fun for them.
The owners are very friendly and even showed the kids how the bees make honey.
All in all an unforgettable stay!

Ten Stars Aren't Enough...

Ten Stars Aren't Enough...

I am sister of Anna H. and concur with all she wrote but would like to add a few extras. Having been the only one in our group to visit Ireland before, my main goal was to show my family the Ireland I fell in love with- the Ireland beyond the wonderful tourist attractions and souvenir shops dotted throughout the island. i wanted to show them the rugged beauty of its magical countryside, the warmth of its people and the almost spiritual experience of discovering an unexpected longing for a simpler life rich with nature and sense of community. You will find and feel that all at Wren's and within the village and villagers of Cloghane and Brandon. From the open turf fire to sunset walks on Brandon Point, daily morning visits to the baker for fresh baked goods, a "singsong" at O'Connors, walking the foot of Mt. Brandon with the sheep, being invited in by a complete stranger for a "cuppa"...I could go on for days. I will forever come back to Wren's when in Ireland. I will go further to say I will plan my trips around whenever the cottage is available! To be surrounded by both the mountain and seaside is nothing short of spectacular. Thanks again to our gracious hosts Janet and Eamon.

Fantastic

My sister, brother, mother, niece, and I spent 4 wonderful nights here during our week-long Ireland vacation, and we all agree that Wren's Old Cottage was the highlight of our trip. The location is perfect - you are literally within walking distance to the mountains and to the sea. My niece and I made the hike to Sauce Creek one afternoon (absolutely stunning view), and our entire family spent multiple evenings at Brandon Point just watching the sunset. We also spent time in 1) Cloghane (we especially enjoyed our evenings at O'Connors, and the toffee caramel muffins from the Cloghane grocery); 2) Castlegregory (horseback riding on the beach); and 3) Dingle (Conor Pass is provides a spectacular view).

Wren's Old Cottage was the perfect "home base" to have in order to enjoy all of the above-mentioned activities. The cottage itself was clean, well-kept, and cozy (the turf fires were a highlight of each evening), and the wifi connection was extremely fast. I cannot recommend this place highly enough!

Owner's Response: We are so glad that you felt at home in Wren's Old Cottage as that is what we aim to achieve with our guests. The turf fire makes the cottage cosy, welcoming and relaxing in the evenings. We welcome children and are delighted your little boy also enjoyed his holiday! There is a nice lawn in front of the cottage for sitting out and playing games with a spectacular view towards sea and mountains.
