Beautiful Villa Delamare

My husband, two children, aged 9 and 11 and myself visited Villa Delamare in August this year. We arrived late on a Saturday evening at Larnaca airport, where we were collected by our taxi (arranged by Richard the owner) and taken over the border in just over an hour. When we arrived we were impressed and very happy, although the photos on the website are very good, its not until you arrive that you appreciate how truly lovely and homely the villa is. There was a fantastic welcome pack of all the usual provisions but we were impressed to find the cold beers and bottle of wine.
We spent most of the days just chilling by the pool and enjoying the beautiful weather, the children played together in the pool, enjoying each others company, certainly a difference than when at home!! We visited the turtle project which is a 20min drive away and cooked bbq's as the sun was setting, complete R&R.
The villa is very spacious and clean, with everything you need at hand, like home from home. It is set in its own grounds with fantastic views out to sea from the balcony and very peaceful. The pool is lovely and perfect if you have young children as it is split level, deeper at one end and shallow at the other to allow a child to stand easily. Plenty of sunbeds umbrellas and pool towels available. It is a well cared for home and the description on the site is what you can expect.
A car is essential but not expensive at about £10.00 a day incl. insurance and easy as they also drive on the left. Various shops and supermarkets are on the main road, approx a 5min drive away. Kyrenia harbour is about a 10min drive and i would recommend a visit as it is so pretty and traditional. We visited plenty of restaurants whilst there, Bella Moon (the meze is a must) and the Tree of Idleness in Bellapais offer a free taxi service, a great incentive if you both want to drink. Mani Peni on the drive into Kyrenia is great for home made burgers and the biggest pizza, the kids were impressed!
I would certainly recommend a holiday in Villa Delamare and I know we will be back again soon. If your looking for a peaceful and quiet holiday in a central location this is the villa for you. Richard the owner was most helpful in so many ways as was Kristina, who looks after the villa. She is fantastic and nothing is too much trouble, she organised our car, the hotel for our last day, recommended restaurants and even lent us her laptop!
