The expansive air-conditioned two-storey Villa Delamare features four bedrooms and four bathrooms. An airy, marbled entrance hall sets the style of this detached villa, which is situated just below the picturesque village of Bellapais. The ground floor has a comfortable lounge with a terrace overlooking the pool deck.
On the other side of the hall is one of the twin bedrooms with shower room/wc next door and a spacious kitchen leading out to a veranda for al fresco dining. A marble staircase ascends from the hall to the first floor where three more en suite bedrooms overlook the pool and sparkling sea. The master suite has a large double bed, private facilities with bath and balcony. At the top of the stairs is a door leading to a balcony with stairs to the roof top terrace affording fabulous 360 degree panoramic views. The pool deck houses a 13m x 4m pool surrounded by an attractive flower garden with plenty of space to soak up the rays in comfort.
Eating out is one of the great pleasures in Northern Cyprus and vsitors will be spoilt for choice with the huge number of restaurants available, at least seven in the small village of Bellapais alone and hundreds more throughout the Kyrenia area. Turkish cuisine is always plentiful and inexpensive and an absolute 'must' to try, but there are plenty of English, Italian, Indian and Chinese restaurants too.

Golf: Korineum Golf & Country Club It’s been a long time coming, but the new Esentepe golf course in Northern Cyprus is well worth the wait. This is located approximately 15 minutes drive from the villa. The Esentepe golf course is not just the first 18 hole golf course in North Cyprus, but a truly international course designed to the highest standards. The course covers some 6600 yards with elegant greens, tricky sand bunkers and water hazards, set amongst olive trees and with the natural beauty of the Northern Cyprus Kyrenia Mountains as a stunning backdrop. You can also practice your swing at the 30 bay driving range, or brush up of your skills with the help of a qualified instructor at the golf academy. If all that exercise makes you hungry, you can dine at the elegant restaurant, or sip a cooling drink at the clubhouse bar. Nearby Turtle bay (Alagadi) is a short drive away, this is a protected area as loggerhead and green turtles use it to lay their eggs.
This was our second visit to Villa Delamare and I know it will not be our last..
We went as a group of six, two adults and four teenagers, who enjoyed having the large pool to themselves all day and the luxury of their own bathrooms. The villa was as lovely as we remembered with everything we needed, the views are amazing. Richard the owner and Kristina the manager were as helpful as usual and it was lovely to see Kristina again, she recommended a great boat trip that departs from the Marina, which is a lovely place to visit, day or evening and was on hand to direct us back on track when we got lost without a map!! We ventured out for a meal to Buffavento's, a lovely traditional restaurant near five finger mountain about 20 mins drive away. If you would like to stay closer to the villa, we had a very nice meal at the Corner House in Ozankoy village and at Bellapais Gardens Hotel. Depending on the time of year of your visit the turtle project is a very good place to visit, certainly enjoyed by our teenagers. We again had a great time and can't wait to return again.
Our party of 4 couples had a wonderful time at Villa Delamare in July 2014. The accommodation layout was ideal for 8 adults, with the benefit of all bedrooms having their own bathroom facilities. The large pool was very welcoming at all times of the day, and the patio and poolside areas were ideal for relaxing during the day and evenings. The roof terrace and bedrooms on the first floor had fantastic views down to the coast and behind amazing views of the mountains up to Bellapais Monastery. The village of Ozankoy is a 10-15 min walk, where you will find restaurants and shops, however a car is essential if you want to explore further. The owner Richard was very helpful at the time of booking and his property Manager Kristina was extremely helpful during our stay (especially when we locked ourselves out). If you’re looking for a private villa in an idyllic location, we’d recommend Villa Delamare - we plan to return as soon as we can.....
My bridal party and I stayed at this villa for 10 days and it was absolutely lovely. Peaceful location and very well decorated and stocked. All the bedrooms have a bathroom which is ideal for large parties.
The villa manager, Kristina and Richard the owner are lovely to deal with as well as being helpful with any queries.
The only thing missing is wifi but this can be found in local cafés and restaurants although this wasn't ideal for us when wedding planning but it is great if you want to get away from it all. A car is also essential for the villa location as it is in a countryside location.
Supermarket and local shops are an easy drive away.
Would recommend and would love to go back in the near future.
Stayed at the lovely villa Delamare during the school holidays with my wife and son for 4 weeks.
We found it to be a spotlessly clean, spacious, with plenty of clean bed clothes and towels (including pool towels).
The villa is located in a very quiet peaceful spot below Bellapais Abbey with stunning views down to Kyrenia and the sea in front and the mountains behind.
The owner Richard was extremely helpful every step of the way and provided us with a simple to follow map and instructions how to get there, as well as plenty of information on local places of interest and restaurant recommendations. He can also arrange transfers to and from the airport and car hire on request.
The local restaurants we liked best were Errols which has very good food at a very reasonable price, and is within walking distance, and Beyti which is a Turkish kebab restaurant in Kyrenia behind the Colony hotel, the kebabs here are served up in huge portions. If your kids like the occasional fish & chips then I recommend Salty's an English style fish & chip shop on the road into Kyrenia just past Lemars supermarket.
Any problems during our stay which was few and far between, was dealt with quickly and efficiently by Kristina who looks after the villa for Richard, lives close by and is just a phone call away.
We found the villa to be very comfortable and in a great location for exploring the sites of Northern Cyprus, and hope to be returning there as soon as possible.
Thank you Richard & Kristina for a lovely holiday.
If you want a holiday treat, we would highly recommend this villa, for luxury with the added bonus of getting a real taste of Northern Cyprus.
Even before we arrived, we were impressed by the excellent service and relationship we built up with the owner. Nothing was too much trouble, as he arranged a taxi from the airport and car hire for us. He provided us with detailed maps and directions and mentioned various places of interest and restaurants.
The good service continued once we got there, as there was an excellent group of people who prepared the villa for our arrival and talked to us the morning after we arrived. All our questions about local amenities were answered and we were made to feel very welcome with local produce provided.
The villa itself was magnificent with every facility you could wish for. All the furnishings were good quality and the kitchen was well equipped. With plenty of towels provided, even pool towels, it made packing for the holiday so much easier. Every bedroom was excellent and the pool was warm enough to swim even in late May.
We loved the views from the villa. On a clear day you could even see the Turkish coast from the upstairs balcony. This also proved to be the perfect place to sit in the evening overlooking the pool, with a glass of wine to watch the sun go down. However we thought the view of the mountains from the other side of the villa was stunning! The owner is planning to increase the shaded areas around the poolside, which would be useful, but there was a lovely shaded terrace which seemed to catch the breeze even when the sun got too hot.
Villa Delamare is not far from Kyrenia. I must admit we did get a little lost in the winding backstreets of the village for the first couple of days we were there, but it was lovely to come across the goats, sheep and donkeys that live in this area. In addition the fabulous flowers, especially the bougainvillea and the jacaranda trees were spectacular.
Kyrenia itself was delightful, with excellent bars and restaurants, and we felt very safe walking round. Parking was also easy and inexpensive – a real bonus. However it was hard to beat Errol’s, a local restaurant within walking distance of the villa for fabulous food, offering really good value and service.
This was our second visit to Northern Cyprus, and we feel that it’s a place we will definitely return to. We would love to stay at Villa Delamare again.
We (4 adults) stayed at this stunning villa and spent two weeks enjoying all the area has to offer. The villa is well situated close to lovely beaches, lots of restaurants and just a few minutes from Kyrenia with its picturesque Harbour - perfect for people watching over a cup of coffee ! The villa itself is well equipped and the outside space has everything you need to relax and soak up the sun. I particularly liked the loungers situated under the old olive tree - perfect for reading (or snoozing) out of the sun.
The villa is managed locally by Kristina who is on hand should you need anything. We needed more coat hangers and these appeared within a couple of hours of our request. The welcome pack is one of the best we've had, with local honey, home made jam - delicious - and wine and beer plus all the usual - milk, tea, bread etc.
An enjoyable holiday in a lovely villa.
Situated 5 minutes drive from either the small but busy village of Ozankoy, where there are plenty of local restaurants to choose from, 2 simple but very well equiped shops, a butchers plus small bars and a coffee shop or by driving up towards the mountains you reach the picturesque village of Bellapais home to a variety of traditional restaurants and craft shops but most famous for its Abbey and the 'Tree of Idleness' imortalised by Laurence Durell's book 'Bitter Lemons'. Bellapais is an ideal haven for those seeking a calm and relaxing opportunity to sample the Cyprus of a bygone era. If you are looking for natural beaches you need to drive for approximately 10 minutes along the east coast road where there are 2 or 3 long white beaches, its easy to see why the turtles have chosen this site as their nesting grounds, turtle beach is part of the world turtle preservation project. We are also approx 25 min drive from the first international standard golf course in N. Cyprus, The Korineum Golf and country Club, surrounded by sea and mountain views.
