The villa is located less than 10 minutes drive form the fishing town of Bosa on the NW coastline of Sardinia. It is a tranquil area within a hamlet of small houses, a church and piazza. Restaurants and bars are within 15 minutes walk during the tourist season.
It offers superb panoramic sea views lying less than 70 metres from the sea with access to a rocky beach. Sandy beaches are walking distance and a short drive will take you to secluded and tranquil coves as well as beaches with night clubs and discos in the town of Bosa.
The villa itself has modern amenities including 7.5m above ground pool, DSL internet, air conditioning (in 3 bedrooms), heating, and entertainment systems. The villa has mosquito protection on all windows in all bedrooms and the front room for those rare occasions before sunset when some mosquitos find their way to the villa.
Evenings are fantastic with sun sets over the sea directly in front of you from the veranda. It is great for romantic holidays as well as family get together. It is child friendly and can accommodate 6 to 8 persons (master bedroom and three double rooms, the second double room can be made as a double bed or two singles).

I am A Sardinian from birth and dreamt of buying my own property close to my relatives and parents. It is wonderful to be able to share this family home with others and for them to see it as their family home when they are here.
Paul & Una Mannu purchased this villa in 2007
It has to be because of the views and sunsets and the tranquil setting. It lies in a small hamlet of beautifully set houses. that has an accompanying church and piazza. The kids loved playing in the piazza when they were younger. There is a real sense freedom and rural environment about the place.
Our maxim is transparency and knowing exactly what you get. The prices are all inclusive and you get free offerings like fast wi-fi and AC. We also provide you with towels for the beach, cool box, umbrellas and a comprehensive house that is more a home than a rental villa. We have a vast array of in house entertainment, playstation 3 games and huge collection of DVDs just in case you get a bad day. All we ask is you treat it with the respect you would treat your own home
In the autumn and winter (our favourite time) you have a wonderful wood stove and heating to keep you warm.
The area is truly outstanding with a main town not to far away and surrounding villages on the hillside. You can go for long coastal walks and come back to a private area and take a dip in the pool when you come to relax.
The reviews reflect just how many families have enjoyed our property and our website on www.mannu.co.uk/villa also has more information for you. You will not be disappointed.
Situated a short climb from the clearest water in the Mediterranean on the relatively undeveloped west coast of Sardinia, of which you have an uninterrupted 180 degree view and a sunset every night. We spotted it last year but it was booked and were luckier this year. Once found, it is a mere 10 minutes drive to the small but complete, again unspoilt, town of Bosa to the north and it's sheltered beach and hill top castle. To the south is a 15 minute walk to Porte Albe with another beach of coarser sand a small bar, shop and a cut through to a small grocery with some bread most days. Several rocky beaches are accessible, when calm (snorkels useful) en route.
Villa Manu its self is a short stroll down a short drive from an ample car parking area, which we found more practical for our hired 9 seat van than the drive way which was difficult to access it was adjacent to the recycling collection point.so no hardship and enabled the children to use the table tennis.
The pool is small but clean and refreshing and in full sun. The outside (hot!) shower and drying line / changing area is well sited and therefore used. There is ample shade by the entrance to the villa by the kitchen and so this is where most meals can be taken "al fresco". Three of the four bedrooms have a/c units but all windows have efficient shutters and insect netting making the a/c less necessary some nights. The well equipped BBQ draws gently once going but we found we needed liquid lighter (or meths) rather than the blocks sold in the local shops to light it. Lining with foil made cleaning very easy. Good swimming / beach towels are provided and make a lot of difference when packing. A well equipped cellar included beach umbrellas, cool box as well as a washing machine.
The four teenagers enjoyed the DVD's and play station, there are plenty of paperback and the Wi Fi is considerably faster than in Somerset!
It is a good hours drive to anywhere else but the drives, particularly north to Alghero, are very spectacular. We were two parents with four assorted late teenager girls and there was something for every one.
Finally, although we spoke little or no Italian, the owner's relatives came and sorted a problem with one of the showers and kept the pool clean for us. The owner, Paul, responded to our e-mails promptly and helpfully.
We would recommend this villa.
Einkauf in Bosa Supermarkt (5-10 Autominuten).
A thoroughly enjoyable holiday villa. The views and especially the sunsets were fantastic. All of the way through the holiday we were all saying "this is just fabulous". One of the most important aspects for us was the quality of the bed linen. Top quality, crisp white cotton. Another major plus was the provision of beach towels, meaning we didn't have to lug them from the UK. The pool was really good for cooling off, but also for keeping the two 10 year old girls amused for hours. Outdoor seating and sunloungers were very good, we spent ages just soaking up the Sardinian sun. Then in the evenings a short blast of the air-con in the bedrooms brought them down to just the right level.
The nearby beaches were incredible just about walkable to, though we usually took the car to carry then paraphernalia of beach time with kids.
So.... why isn't it 5 star..... if I could have given 4+ I would have. The only negatives were the lack of life (I don't mean night clubs), no bar or shop in the immediate vicinity. St Maria Del Mare is really just a hamlet of what look like mostly holiday villas. There is a church and a modern amphitheatre in the centre, all very modern but with no real atmosphere. The immediate coast is virtually inaccessible. It would have been fantastic to have just popped down there for a quick snorkel, but the rocks (huge boulders) made it it treacherous in anything other than dead flat calm seas ( I make these comments as a very strong swimmer with thousands of dives under my belt)
First time in Sardinia, but we will definitely return and we have no hesitation in recommending this excellent villa. The property is spacious and very well equipped. It is clean and well maintained and a welcome pack with a view essentials is a nice touch on arrival. This villa will suit a family and there is something for kids of all ages as, besides the pool, there is a table tennis table, basketball hoop, dvd's, board games, good selection of books, etc. The owners were friendly and couldn't be more helpful even through the stay when we were looking for recommendations for where to buy food, etc. The villa is a few miles out of Bosa, a small but lovely coastal town with good beaches, restaurants and some sights to see; the castle above the town is very striking and offers great views. We went snorkelling and kayaking whilst there and also spent some time travelling around the local countryside; the murals at Tinnura and walled coastal town of Alghero are well worth a visit. I would have no hesitation recommending this villa and this area for a great family holiday.
The historic Roman town of Bosa is 40 Km from Alghero airport and the house is a 5 minute drive from Bosa. Within walking distance you will find shops and bars. A short drive to Bosa and you will find typical tourist attractions with large beaches, discos, night clubs and larger hypermarkets, banks and all amenities. So you have both worlds and can return to a more tranquil setting. The area is rated 5 stars in the Italian blue guide of beaches. And is often ranked as having some of the cleanest beaches in Europe. Santa Maria is a central spot for religious festivals during the month of August and you get a real feel for local life and celebrations. An internationally renowned golf course if 30 minutes drive designed by Van Hagge.
The countryside is spectacular. You can walk from the villa and start a Southerly coastal walk that takes you miles either via the coastline or into the country which is wild and mountainous. You'll experience the breadth of sea weather, heavy and calm.
Other Activities: Sub-aqua diving, wind surfing, sea fishing, golfing within 40 minutes drive
