Stunning villa sleeps up to 12 people. Ramigi offers you all the comforts of home with all the magic of Tuscany. The views are breathtaking and the tranquility is perfection. Ideal for larger bookings it takes 2 -3 families comfortably and is designed in such a way to give all guests their own individual privacy. The pool is a full sized swimming pool and is south facing and is guaranteed not to disappoint children and adults alike.Nestled on the mountain with a backdrop of chestnut forests delightful for walking. Eventhough it is in such an Idyllic spot it is still only 5 minutes walk away from the nearest village where you can buy your fresh bread daily or 5 minutes drive away from the local town. There are two outside eating areas perfect for Alfresco dining. 5 bedrooms,3 bathrooms,1 dining room, 2 lounges, fabulous log fire,T.V, DVD, Satellite, CD player etc, and delightful rustic kitchen with all modern facilities. Ideally positioned for Lucca, Pisa, Florence and the Coast.
There are a number of acivities at the Villa which are complimentary for you and your families. We have Bicycles to go and explore the nearby villages and basketball at the villa.
Your experience at Castello is one you will no doubt want to repeat, many of our guests return again and again. You do require a car as the villa is positioned 5 mins form the main road but whilst you are in the beauty of the Tuscan hills, you are very well placed to visit all the places of interest and the many attractions in the area.
We also have a traditional Italian chef available who will come to the villa and cook a full Italian meal for you also giving instruction if desired as opposed to going out for a meal. refer to the review from the 'Swedes conquering Tuscany' they took advantage of this opportunity and were not disappointed!
The villa is private but we live nearby therefore we are on hand if you need any help or knowledge of where to go and what to do. However if you simply want to get away from everything you can also do that.
What a wonderful propery Castello is. The views are to die for and the peace is heavenly. The pool was a complete winner with the kids ( and us too we could read a book or two). The house is well designed for 2 - 3 families with all of us having our own bathroom facilities and privacy. The house has so much space and wonderful walks through the Woodland. Great holiday !!!!
We had a lovely week for our first visit to Italy, there were 10 of us, adults and children and the villa accommodated us all easily. The pool was fantastic (we could hardly get the children to leave it ) and just what was needed in the summer heat. The villa is well equipped and comfortable it is in a rural location but also within easy reach of many interesting places. We spent some time in Pisa on our way to the villa and then visited Abetone (trip on the cable car), Lucca, Monte Carlo and its surrounding vineyards as well as testing a few of the many varieties of wine available in the supermarkets! We walked some of the many paths around the villa and made use of the excellent outside dining areas where we had some very nice meals relaxing in the evenings and watching the shooting stars.
Anna who met us at the villa at the start of our holiday was very helpful and easily contacted if we had any problems and the owner was also very friendly and told us some of the history of the villa and the surrounding area.
We had a really lovely, relaxing week.
We have been returning to Tuscany every summer with our children. We got used to excellent services, clean and well-maintained rural houses with nice gardens.
Our last vacation however made us disappointed, unfortunately.
However the house is (was) a beautiful building, the owners do not maintain it as it deserves. The parking place was full of rubbish left there after construction, rose-bowls were abandoned and empty, broken glasses and rubbish were along the pavements.
We were told to have wifi access, but turned out it was broken. Having complained about it however, we got a refund.
Jacuzzi did not work (although we did not need it)
Beside these disappointments the pool is fantastic (big and clean) and the view is super.
Note, that the house is located on top of a hill with steep road!
My family of 2 adults and 3 children stayed in Villa Ramigi for 1 week in August 2011. A brilliant time was had by all!
The property is a big, old rambling building with thick walls. This has the massive advantage of keeping cool, even in the height of summer; when we were there, the temperature was over 35C daily, but the villa was always comfortable. Some of the furniture is old but serviceable, and Tony and Lynn have ensured that all the things that really matter (showers, fridge/freezer, kitchen stuff etc) work and are there in abundance. Both they and their son are very friendly; my 7 yr old daughter loved building a den in the local woods with their son!
The property is just north of Lucca (not to be missed) and Pisa and there are plenty of other places to visit, depending on how far you want to go. We found it best to do our sightseeing in the cooler mornings (go VERY early to Pisa if you want to go up the Tower) and spend the hot early afternoons in the villa, and then hit the swimming pool.
I would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend it to anyone!
We were a group of 5 Swedish families, including 10 adults and 8 children, that rented the villa for 2 weeks during the summer 2011. The location is absolutely amazing, with beautiful surroundings and a lot of stunning nature around the corner. It is also fairly close to the beautiful city Lucca and just a 45 minutes drive from the coast.
The house has a descent standard for holiday living, with large bedrooms and plenty of general space. We never felt that the house was too small for our large group.
Some highlights of the weeks.
* A visit to the wine district Monte Carlo. Just 45 minutes drive away, we found some great wine yards that served great food and sold locally produced wine. I would strongly recommend the fattoria ill poggio. We hade a 25 Euro Sunday lunch, including a 3 course meal and almost unlimited of wine.
* Cooking food with the local villager "Lina". The owner Tony, helped us in finding a chef that could cook a proper Tuscan meal for all of us. Lina made a 6 course dinner with mixed starters, home made pasta, rabbit stew, roast beef and desert. The food was delicious. Definitely worth trying!
I could strongly recommend the villa. Its location, charm and helpful owners made our 2 weeks of holiday in Tuscany memorable. This is the place to rent if you are looking for peace and quiet with friends or family.
We had a wonderful week with our two daughters (12 and 13 years), our son (8 years), Grandma and Grandpa. The house on the hill of Villa A Roggio is very charming and is perfectly situated for visiting the area (Florence, Pisa, Siena, Lucca, San Gimignano, Cinque Terre and even the seaside ..
Joyce and Tony are very welcome, friendliness and availability of a blameless. Their little boy Marcus (8 years) has sympathized with my little boy and have become good friend ...
The garden is very quiet and very nice pool to cool off. For sports ... there's basketball and ping-pong and hiking trails great can be done on the hill to get to another small village with nice “Chestnut” museum!
Thank you for these wonderful holidays!
A family group of 13 ranging in ages from 6-73 yrs spent 2 weeks at the Villa Pescaglia at the end of June and all of us thoroughly enjoyed it. The house is large and comfortable and really cool even at the hottest times of the day. The pool /barbeque area is spacious, private and well maintained and lends itself well to long lazy evening meals. There are also lots of restaurants within a few minutes drive. However the biggest asset has to be the owner Tony! He is so knowledgeable and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. He gave us so much advice and was available any time we needed directions or suggestions. The area around the villa is very beautiful with fabulous views in every direction, there is also lots of wildlife to be seen. Overall we would fully recommend Villa Pescaglia to anyone seeking a taste of real Italy.
Castello is ideally placed for Pisa, Florence, the Versillian coast and of course the beautiful city of Lucca. In addition to this you can visit Sienna or San Gimignano which are only a couple of hours away by car. If you prefer to stay local why not go to Cello 10 mins away and visit the Museum of Puccini the great Italian composer or the famous ponte Del Diavolo, the Devil's Bridge, always a must for visitors which again is minutes away. There are a number of restaurants nearby La Fonte, Mollin Del Volpe to nmae but a few. try fresh local foccacia from the local bakers delivered to the village each day. For many guests this has been one of their favourite past times strolling leisurely down to the villa a Roggio (5 mins) prectisinf their Italian with the local characters Contado, Fiorenzo to name but a few buying their bread and returning to the Villa to enjoy bread like you have never tasted before.
Other Activities: painting,bird watching,
Golf: There are several courses for the Golf enthusiast;
An exclusive course to vivit is Versillia 18 holes 50 minutes away. then there is Garfagnan 6 holes approx 40 minutes away and for practice there is the driving range Vico per Lago 30 minutes travel.
Ski: Abeteone is approx 55 minutes away. This resort is a small resort very popular with Italians in the area. one of the advantages of this resort that it is much more price realistic than many ski resorts.
