A spacious family house set in 2 acres of mature gardens and open farmland overlooking the Dordogne valley and a short walk down a quiet back lane to the medieval village of Limeuil.

The accommodation is ideal for a large family or two families holidaying together: two double bedrooms, two twin-bedded rooms, two bathrooms, separate WC, spacious lounge, large dining room, fully equipped kitchen plus an additional seating area upstairs provide everything you need for a relaxing holiday with family and/or friends.

The spacious lounge has comfy leather sofas and easy chairs, a large flat screen TV with UK Freesat, Wi-Fi, DVD and CD player and french doors opening onto the south-facing terrace.

An additional seating area upstairs has a TV with DVD & video players, and a selection of DVDs, videos and video games, plus family games and books. An ideal place for the kids to relax!

The large dining room comfortably seats 8, while the terrace has additional dining facilities for up to 10 persons providing the perfect option for outdoor eating with stunning views across the valley. This large covered terrace, overlooking the pool is a favourite place to barbecue, eat and relax and offers the perfect place to escape from the direct sun. Steps lead down to the private, unfenced 10 m x 5 m pool and sheltered sunny patio with flowering borders, 8 sun-loungers and parasols. An additional patio area at the rear of the house provides an alternative eating/seating area.

The fully equipped kitchen has a full sized electric fan oven with gas hob, large fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave and coffee maker plus ample crockery, glasses & cutlery. There's also all the utensils you may need and a large selection of cooking ware and serving dishes. To make your stay easier we also provide some of the basic foodstuffs: tea, coffee,sugar, olive oil, spices, condiments, plus all cleaning materials.

On your arrival you will receive a welcome pack of wine, soft drinks, milk, butter, jam, croissants and snacks, leaving you to relax, eat out at a local restaurant that evening then think about the food shopping in the morning.

The 2 acre garden is unfenced and borders onto farmland, with views across the valley.

An adjoining games room houses a full size table tennis table and equipment.

What is there to do in the area? If you don't want to get back in the car just relax around the pool or walk down into the village to one of the canoe hire companies and take a leisurely paddle down the river. Explore the winding lanes of Limeuil with its artisan shops. Take one of the many signposted walks through the countryside. Or spend every day doing something adventurous or going somewhere different. This area of France is steeped in a history that goes back to the days of cavemen. Underground caves, formal gardens,chateaux, battle re-enactments are just a sample of the many cultural activities on offer. For the more active there are two rivers to canoe, a nearby watersports centre and tennis courts, whilst a little further away are a waterpark and treetop adventure parks. There are several golf courses in the area and horse riding is available in the nearby village.There are also many 'special' events peculiar to each town or village a list of which will be provided.

The area is a paradise for ramblers and cyclists with walks clearly signposted and weekly arranged local trips into the woodlands. Keen cyclists enjoy the testing hills and gentle lanes to explore. The Tour de Dordogne passes through every year and many villages organise short races open to all. July 2014 sees stage 20 of the Tour de France go from Bergerac to Perigueux.

The area is famous for its wine and food and there are many restaurants and ferme auberges offering everything from snacks to Michelin starred meals.

The village of Limeuil has 4 restaurants, all within walking distance. Just a few minutes drive away the village of Tremolat has a further 2 restaurants, 2 ferme auberges and a Michelin starred restaurant and in nearby Paunat, the Chez Julien restaurant set in the picturesque grounds of an old abbey is very popular with both locals and visitors alike.

In addition, through late June to early September it's Marche Gourmand time. These events are held in many of the local villages and provide a splendid evening's entertainment. An assortment of freshly prepared local specialities are available from the many stalls set out around the village square where seating and eating areas are arranged. As the evening progresses there is entertainment which goes on into the night providing a fun atmosphere for all the family.

Fabulous holiday!

What a super place to stay for our fortnight's holiday! The house, pool and space around us were just as we had hoped; clean, inviting and comfortable. It was great to be met by Kris and Dave after a long journey from Calais, who had clearly thought about what they could do to make our stay as relaxed and welcoming as possible. They stocked the fridge with goodies in preparation for our latish arrival, which took the pressure off and was much appreciated by us all. They were both continuously helpful, with suggestions and useful information, and their local knowledge was really useful; it was good to know they were nearby, but they weren't intrusive during our stay. The small market in Limeuil was a great place for daily bread and fruit, with the supermarkets nearby supplying everything else. Tremolat has a great boulangerie which is worth a daily breakfast trip! I would definitely recommend this property; the sunrises and sunsets from the balcony were spectacular! There was nothing we could fault and only wish we had booked an extra week! Thank you so much, we all had a fabulous holiday.

well-equipped country family home in France

The property description was entirely accurate. The house was well equipped for a family stay and both house and grounds were clean and well maintained. Customer service was excellent- personal but not intrusive. We enjoyed our week immensely and would recommend this property to families wanting a home from home in lovely French countryside. Extensive information on 'what to do'-all accurate and informative, was freely available. The only downside was not being able to buy basic food items-ie bread, milk and basics basics in the local village Limeuil on a daily basis. Shopping was not a big problem however, but entailed a drive to Le Bourg-making our car an essential. Walking was a pleasure and many lovely walks were easily accessed from the property. Likewise, it is possible to walk to a number of good restaurants. All in all, an excellent week-highly recommended.

As we mentioned, the village stall selling basic foodstuffs and bread re-appeared the day after you left. An amazing holiday

7 of us enjoyed a wonderful week. The villa was lovely with stunning views,well equipped and very very clean. We received a delightful welcome pack on arrival which saw us through our fist night and breakfast. With the village within easy walking distance the villa couldn't have been better situated. We would definitely look to returning as there is so much to see and do in the area and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Loved every minute of it!

Had a brilliant holiday at La Coquille de Noix ! The house was extremely comfortable and inviting with plenty of space for a large family. The pool was really clean and provided respite from the glorious temperatures the Dordogne region receives.
The location was fantastic with stunning views across the valley and the nearest village Limeuil just a ten-minute walk/ 2-minute car journey away.
The other surrounding villages had plenty of restaurants, all providing scrumptious french food!
It was the perfect place to relax with a serene and tranquil setting. We will definitely be going back there next summer given the chance. Loved every minute of it!

All bed linen is provided using top quality poly-cotton bedding and medium weight duvets. Bed linen and towels will be changed on a weekly basis for longer lets.

La Coquille de Noix is set in open countryside with panoramic views over the Dordogne valley but only a 20 minute walk into the village of Limeuil with its many restaurants and attractions.The lounge is equipped with Freesat TV, DVD and video players, plus CD player and a selection of videos for the whole family. The seating area on the landing has a TV and provides an ideal space for children to enjoy video games or to escape from the main lounge area. The fully equipped kitchen contains a large fridge-freezer, full sized oven with hob, microwave, dishwasher, and all the essentials for a self catering holiday. The lounge and dining room open onto the large south facing covered terrace equipped with table and chairs, easy chairs and gas BBQ. From here steps lead down to the unfenced 10m x 5m pool and patio area equipped with loungers and sun umbrellas. The garden has many mature trees that provide shady places for a relaxing snooze after lunch.
