Bow is a characterful area in the East End of London which has seen radical changes in the last few years. Now classed as part of 'Docklands' and, more recently, the Gateway to the Olympics, this is your opportunity to stay in the real London but still less than half-an-hour on the tube (station less than five minutes walk away and the DLR is even nearer) to the centre of the West End. The flat is in a brand-new gated development of luxury flats on the edge of the beautiful Bow Conservation area. They have spotless, spacious communal areas and fast mirrored lifts along with a lovely raised communal garden and this flat even has allocated parking. It is on the top floor with only two other flats (all owned by us) so is perfect for large groups or families travelling together. Views are over London and the Olympic stadium from the large windows with Juliet balcony in the main room.

Bow is a very historical part of the East End of London with traditional pubs including the famous Bow Bells just around the corner. There are also green spaces including the gothic Tower Hamlets Cemetery - sounds spooky but it's a gorgeous unspoilt wilderness and also very famous, being one of the original Victorian 'Magnificent Seven' cemeteries. These days Bow is better known for being very close to Stratford - just one stop taking four minutes! - so has incredibly easy access to the brand new Westfield Shopping Centre and, of course, the Olympics stadium! In the other direction and also very easily accessible by either DLR or the tube is the rest of London. You can be anywhere in the City or West End within half an hour and a few minutes more to Harrods and 'Museum Mile'. Virtually everywhere is either a direct journey or has one change.

Particularly close is the very trendy (and also historically important) area that includes the wonderful markets Brick Lane, Spitalfields, Petticoat Lane and Columbia Road. As well as these world-famous street markets there are the 'Indian' restaurants of Brick Lane, the wonderfully-preserved Huguenot houses of Spitalfields and, of course, the spectacular Hawksmoor masterpiece Christ Church.

  • The flat boasts two bathrooms which is still quite unusual for London. The first is the family bathroom off the hall and has a wonderful quality white suite with chrome fitments and illuminated vanity unit. The en-suite is a shower room, again top quality with expansive tiling and expensive fittings.

  • The main bedroom has a good quality king size bed, a fitted wardrobe and a gorgeous en-suite shower room. The second bedroom is very small but does have enough room for two standard single beds - just! One of the beds can go under the other if you only require a bedroom for one person and this gives more room of course. The living room has two top-of-the-range leather sofa beds with sprung mattresses so the flat sleeps six in comfort.

Perfect vacation base with A1 customer liaison.

This compact 2:2 was the perfect vacation base. My family stayed in the 2:2 unit on this floor after sending in a request for the one next door and the wonderful Elizabeth suggesting that we would be far more comfortable in this apartment instead. We peeped in next door when it was being serviced and she was right. The one bed is adorable (same sleek chic design and spotlessly clean) but too small for a family.

We are four and fitted perfectly into the two bedrooms because my kids can share a room. If yours can't (or won't!) then there is a sleeper couch in the den area of the open plan living space. The bedrooms are compact especially the twin which has room for not much more than two beds (but this was made clear to us) but the fact that you can have a really cost-conscious family apartment with two baths in London for the price of a room is simply great. We won't be staying in corporate hotels again. Transport is great. The kids wanted to see the Olympics Park (from the window!) and also the Westfield Mall which is a couple minutes ride away on the cute overground train. For everywhere else we used the subway which is quick, regular and perfectly safe. There is a supermarket a couple of minutes away in the gas station and everywhere you go in London there is a Tesco. We usually brought home a bag of groceries from our sightseeing. London is expensive but supermarket food is good value and the full kitchen (the oven combination is a bit like a spaceship to operate but there are instructions with photos left by the very thoughtful owners) meant that we could cook at home and save on spending money.

London is awesome and you won't see it all; just be warned! We are coming back to London, Bow and this lovely apartment next year. Thank you Elizabeth and everyone. The James Family.

Top floor, top-clas manager, top-notch everything!

I am sending this to Elizabeth to post for me as I have been unable to fathom out the review system on HomeAway and Elizabeth told me that so many other people have told her this. Ridiculous! Anyway we had a top-notch stay in this charming flat. Spotlessly clean, warmly welcoming with tea and cake and the radio playing and decorated with real care and attention. Very well-located for the tube, Docklands Railway (no time at all to Stratford for fantastic Westfield Centre - literally go on train and sat down and got up again!) and we took the bus down to Spitalfields Market which has Brick Lane (trendiest bit of London) and also Petticoat Lane AND Columbia Road (the coolest Sunday morning flower market ever - real London) right by it. The flat is handy for the supermarkets and some pubs and cafes used by locals too but we spent most of the time in the E1 and West End. Covent Garden was easy and fast to reach by tube and we loved it there too although it is more touristy than Spitalfields.

We could not fault the flat although the hot water to the shower in the family bathroom seemed overly complex but this is not the fault of the flat or the owners who have provided a photographic explanation with the notes and guide books etc. There are also films and books and games. Really, everything has already been thought-of for you. Genuinely caring manager in Elizabeth. And the best bit probably (except her) is that we were quoted an all-inclusive price which did include everything unlike the prices from all the other owners and managers we contacted initially.

Everything including a driver to collect us and take us to the flat!! was included so we could budget and stick to it! I am sorry I could not leave this review online but it is a genuine review from genuinely grateful guests. We hope to return and send our best regards from Napier in the meantime. London Calling

My mother and I stayed here for 2 weeks in September. I usually go to London by myself for a few days every year to visit family but seeing as my mum hadn't been back in 10 years we decided to stay for 2 weeks and stay in an apartment for more room and relaxation. We live in Australia.
We chose this property mainly for location (we needed to be in the East End) and also because of the lovely email I received from Elizabeth when I made the initial inquiry. She was genuinely pleased to help with the decision making and I felt she cared about the property. Also her after stay emails were lovely wanting to know if we enjoyed out stay. It was the personal touch that we liked
The apartment itself was beautiful. Anna the cleaner was still there when we arrived and she was very friendly and the place was spotless.
Good location with the tube and DLR within minutes of the flat. Also a few extra minutes walk will give you Mile End Tube station for the central line so well located. Very quite area even though it's right in the heart of the Olympic sites. The paralympics were on while we were there and we saw the fireworks of the closing ceremony from the lounge window!! That's how close you are to everything.
Good location for the new Westfield Stratford which is just one stop on the DLR.
The flat is very modern and well appointed. Washer/Dryer,Microwave, dishwasher. It was just like being at home.
Added touches were the free phone calls to Australia and the Oyster cards that they have there for visitors (we had our own but this was a nice thoughtful touch to help with transport)
The beds were very comfortable and it was nice to have a bath as well as a shower. There is also a car space available which we didn't need but handy to know about if you are hiring a car (parking is a nightmare in London)
We were contacted a couple of times during our stay (by email) to ask if everything was OK which I thought was nice (again genuine interest in their guests).
We had a friend ferry us to and from Heathrow but Elizabeth will organise this if needed. I also had the opportunity to speak with Ottilie the owner who was also lovely and friendly and genuinely interested in our stay being as pleasant as possible.
I'm coming back next year and will definitely stay here again. It's no dearer than a hotel but much nicer.
Truly a lovely stay, lovely people and would recommend this property without any hesitation

Fabulously managed, clean, modern flat

I spent a great deal of time searching out a flat for our 8 night, 1st time London stay ( all on Home Away). I had found one of the owner Ottile's other flats, and manager Elizabeth let me know about this larger flat (that I hadn't seen) being available, and a better fit for our family and friend traveling to London together. Having heard back from many places on Home Away and not knowing anything about the different areas of London, I had many choices. I decided to choose this lovely flat mainly based upon the responses from Elizabeth, the manager. She made the entire experience such a smooth one from first communications- from the booking and payments of the flat, to answering questions about location and proximity to other places, and even in the arrangement of a car service to and from the airport!

Owner Ottilie had coffee, tea, milk and English treats in the flat upon our arrival- what a nice treat when we arrived very late and exhausted from the United States. Her 3 flats are on the top floor, the 6th floor of the building, with great views- the Olympic Stadium can be seen out of the windows to the east. The flat is new, and was very clean and comfortable. Another plus was phone and internet!

Bow is a nice area- mainly residential. The Bow Bells Pub does not serve food, but a great traditional London pub. The owner sat with us and told us all about its history. Another great neighborhood pub, called Coburn Arms was where we ate 3 of our 7 dinners- great local flavour and food.

We feel that we found a great flat for our London stay. The price is very reasonable for 2 bedrooms, 2 baths- no hidden costs-Also, I want to mention that the living room not only has pull out sofas, but has a closing door, closing it off from the bedroom part of the flat.( Our 16 year old slept on one of the pull out sofas, and he said it was very comfortable.)

Our trip to the great city of London was wonderful. We did and saw so many things. I thank Elizabeth for all she did to arrange a perfect stay. It was nice to meet you Ottilie - you have a lovely flat!

Excellent Flat, great location,

Elizabeth, the booking agent, went above and beyond! Super fast communication, it was the easiest vacation rental we've ever done!

Ottilie, the owner was awesome! She even made us tea on the first day of our arrival. She was so gracious, made our stay in her lovely flat just perfect.

The flat was very clean, and well equipped. We found everything we needed, iron, blow dryer, towels, linens, washing machine, coffee, sugar, salt etc... staying there was very easy and pleasant. We borrowed their oyster cards and easily caught the tube.

I would certainly recommend this flat and would definitely stay again.
