13th Bonaire trip
I was shocked when we actually looked back and counted the number of times we've visited Bonaire. We like checking and comparing so we've stayed at a different place each trip. We started with all the major dive resorts and then moved on to rentals. Bon Bida proved to be the best yet. No, it isn't water front but the value and ameneties make up for that. This apartment has the most comfortable furnishings we've experienced on the island. No uncomfortable wicker furniture...yipee!
And the beds were top notch, name brand very comfortable mattresses. I'm 6'6", 260 lbs. and loved the beds! No dinky little lumpy thin pads to sleep on. I wanted to bring the pillows home. All the appliances are Bosch...very nice. I spent the first 15 minutes just opening and closing drawers. We just remodeled out kitchen and wish we could've afforded hardare as nice as Tessa has in this apartment. It doesn't hurt that everything is brand new. Everything in the kitchen you could possibly need. I don't remeber seeing a blender but since we didn't need one I didn't really look. Washer and dryer was really a big plus. Saved 5 pounds out of my bag because I needed less clothing.
Bonaire unfortunately has a reputation for theft (well deserved) but no worries staying here. Very secure grounds. And while you may not be able to dive right out the front door all it takes is a walk across the street to hit the water. Buddys, Dons, and the operator for Sandollar/ Den Lamen are right there.
We're from the deep south so A/C is a must for us. Any frequent traveler to the islands knows they're not going to get central A/C but we were very comfortable with the bedroom units. If you want the breeze through the living area there are full length screened things (neither window nor door) beside the front and back doors to open. The wind funnels into the front making a very nice air flow to add to the ceiling fans. If you're inside during the hottest hours of the day then what are you doing vacationing in Bonaire in the first place?
Grounds and pool area are very well maintained. There were people working on upkeep/cleaning 4 days out of the week we were there.
We travel frequently but aren't really wealthy so we look for value and this place has it in spades! Travel with another couple or with family and this place should be high on your list. We thought it a great deal just for the two of us. Meals out on the porch were great. We recommend and would stay here again, no problem.
