The apartment, on the first floor of the villa, has it's own entrance, 2 double bedrooms (1 en suite), twin bedroom and family bathroom with jacuzzi. A large lounge/kitchen/dining room is comfortably equipped – traditional oven, microwave, toaster, washing machine, UK satellite TV, DVD&CD player. Enjoy a rooftop patio looking over fields for your romantic cocktails watching the sun go down; your own personal pool to keep cool in the relaxing summer sun. A welcome pack is provided to start your holiday from the moment you walk through the door. Fatima pilgrims have 30 km to go and the magnificent castle/convent of Tomar, headquarters of the Knight Templars, is just 15 minutes away. Tomar has the Knight Templars headquarters missed from the Dan Brown trail! The whole area is full of history - dinosaur footprints- grand cathedrals, the pilgrimage town of Fatima within easy reach, castles and magical caves, gastronomical fairs, enormous country markets, rough country walking, golf at Obidos and a new course opening in May 2008. There are hand made tile and potteries, shops that belong to a bygone age, and with more energetic activities too for the youngsters: Water sports, fishing, water park, river beaches and Atlantic coast excitement, karting, horse riding and horse fairs, wine tastings with tractor ride farm tour, all night summer festivals. So much to do one holiday is not enough! But even with all this going on, there is still tranquility unspoilt by tourism.

Golden Eagle Golf Course. : Situated just outside Rio Maior, less than an hour away from our villas. We have negotiated a special discount rate for our guests of €50 per round at any time (normally €75 weekdays, €90 weekends). Check for more information about the facilities at Golden Eagle from the Portugal Golf website.

Karting : Karting is great fun for both big and small kids and this is available at a large track at the Kartodromo de Fatima which has other activities including paintball, abseiling, adventure trails, cable sliding, archery, and kart buggies.

Vineyard Visit : A trip to Casal das Freiras is more than just an opportunity to try some of the lovely wine of the region. You can also a delight in stepping back in time at this Quinta that has been in the family for generations after taking over from the nuns who provided the Convent of Christ with farm produce including wine. For larger groups, the undulating land can be toured by tractor to see the olives, cereals cork and woodland. Visits to the cellar is by arrangement, through Christine who will lead the way there and introduce you to your very welcoming host. Wine tasting with generous snacks and tour of the wine vats and antique oil press are hosted by the owner, Snr. Zé Vidal for a nominal fee.
