Zerniq is a spacious, modern and comfortable 3 Bedroom self catering apartment

Zerniq is a luxury three bedroom apartment in Misrah Simar Apartment Complex set in the charming village of Qala, on the Island of Gozo, Malta.

The complex offers a large swimming pool, a jacuzzi and children's pool and a large deck area and garden with native plants. It has a peaceful location yet only five minute walk from the main village square, a very popular venue full of restaurants and bars.

With its the large terrace overlooking the pool area and country views, our apartment offers a quality relaxing and tranquil atmosphere. Zerniq has 3 bedrooms (one en suite), a spacious living room, dining room, bathroom and fully equipped kitchen ( including microwave, dishwasher, washing machine / dryer, espresso machine and food processor)

Fully air-conditioned (A/C are pay per use) the apartment comes with a state of the art entertainment system including internet TV, satellite and cable TV, Blu Ray Home Cinema System, Wii console and games, DVD players, computer with internet, over 500 in-house movies and free WIFI up to the pool area.

Included in the rental is a two car locked-up garage inside the complex, and full use of all complex common areas.

About Konrad Scicluna

My name is Konrad and I have been born and bred on the Island of Gozo, Malta.

For the most of my 47 years I have been in the travel and hospitality industry with my first job being with CG Holidays and travel of London, UK. After my return back to Gozo, I opened up an outgoing travel agency, Links Travel which has since become one of the leading travel companies in Gozo.

An airline pilot by profession (I have been working for Airmalta since 1979 and have over 17,000 jet flying hours) I love to travel and explore every corner of the world.

Konrad Scicluna purchased this apartment in 2009
Why Konrad Scicluna chose Qala

Qala is a quant and charming village with very friendly people. It provides a rural environment yet its main square rivals even the one in Victoria (Gozo's capital) because it has some very good restaurants and bars and is lively all year round.

It host one of the nicest beaches, 'Hondoq ir Rummien', with its fantastic views of the channel and the island of Comino.

No wonder Qala has become one of the most sought of places with holidaymakers.

Whenever I have a choice, I tend to prefer self-catering properties over hotel accommodation. Because I do travel a lot I know first hand what people need and look for in their holiday property.

When I bought and furnished Zerniq I wanted to provide holiday accommodation that is cosy, modern and comfortable, a home away from home and a property that is unique.

A note about hiring a car in Gozo:

Zerniq is conveniently located about 7 minutes walking distance from the Main Square of Qala which is the area where most of the shops, restaurants and bars are located.

Gozo is well serviced by ARRIVA bus service and there is a bus stop just 2 minutes away from Misrah Simar Complex. A 7 day bus ticket cost €12 per adults and € 2.30 per child (up to age 10).

In our experience however, to make the best of Gozo and to be able to visit places which are not accessible by bus, hiring a car is recommended. If you have your own car you will be able to take the island on your own pace without relying on bus timetables.

I would personally recommend hiring a car in Gozo irrespective of the location of your accommodation. We can arrange car hire for you at very good prices and Zerniq has its own two car garage within the complex which is included with your stay if required.

  • The above rates include accommodation rental, internet facilities, use of all common parts including swimming pools. use of private car garage on the premises and all water, gas and electricity except electricity used for air conditioning which is metered and charged at a rate of € 0.25c per unit. (note: the apartment is naturally cool during summer and cosy in winter and as such air conditioning is not a necessity at Zerniq)


    The above weekly rates are based on stays of 6 nights or more. For shorter stays (not less than the minimum stay indcated above) the following rates apply:

    Low Season: 130 per night
    Mid Season: 145 per night
    Carnival and Christmas Period: 145 per night
    Easter Period: 160 per night



    A security deposit of €400 is required. This will be returned at the end of your stay.

Appartamento molto ben rifinito, con tutte le comodità e le ultime novità tecnologiche; abbondante spazio, ottima e spaziosa cucina, ottima piscina tranquilla

Tutto bene; bisogna tener presente comunque che è un appartamento e non un albergo, ed è indispensabile la macchina

Fourteen fantastic days at Zerniq

Vi hade 14 jätte sköna dagar på Zernic Misrah Simar i Qala på Gozo, som är en fantastisk ö. Vi var 2 familjer med 4 vuxna och 3 barn. Lägenheten höll hög standard och innehöll all önskad utrustning och tänkbara bekvämligheter. Poolen och poolområdet var jättebra och både vuxna och barn trivdes där. Det var ett väldigt lugnt område. Misrah Simar innehöll 36 lägenheter och ca 4-5 av dem brukar hyras ut. Resterande lägenheter nyttjas av dess ägare och brukas oftast under helgerna. Vi hyrde lägenheten av Konrad Scicluna, som verkligen såg till och var mån om att vi skulle trivas bra under vår vistelse. Vi vill verkligen rikta ett stort tack till Konrad och hans familj. Vi hade en riktigt skön semester och vi kan mycket väl tänka oss att komma tillbaka.

It's a well designed apartment, there is nothing left out when it comes to comfort and luxury... It's more then a 5 star Hotel...

A great experience

This is a modern, newly built apartment set in a very pretty complex. It was equipped with every mod-con you can imagine and all gadgets, equipment one could wish for - it was like a home away from home!


The owner was very friendly and helpful and went out of his way to make sure we had every comfort we needed. He left us some personal touches in the apartment such as a small gift for the children and some local speciality and wine for us to enjoy. The pool is beautiful and very clean - lovely to relax by. The apartment also has a small terrace with country views where one can sit and soak up the sunshine!


Overall a great experience and we will come again!
