About Teresa Brooks

My husband and I moved to this beautiful region of France after enjoying many lovely holidays in this area of the Loire Valley. This is our semi retirement from the very busy lives we led in the UK. We now have the space and time to enjoy growing our own vegetables, gardening, keeping a few chickens and enjoying our hobbies. We now have a different lifestlye away from the hustle and bustle of modern living, a step back in time.

This will be our second season in France after a very pleasant and relaxing first year.

Teresa Brooks purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Teresa Brooks chose Loire Valley

We chose to move to this area,as with its great local amenities it ticked all the boxes. Being close to the Loire River with a direct, uncomplicated drive from all of the cross channel ferry ports .La Cordonniere is the perfect location for touring the many magnificent chateaux and attractions of the Loire valley.

Our propery itself is just outside the market town of Noyant but in a rural setting with no immediate nieghbours. Our home is a converted barn in two acres of ground and your gite is the original independant cottage in the same grounds, close to us but with its own exclusively private garden and pool.

What makes this cottage unique

Our grounds offer the space and peace of rural living.

The gite is an icon of times gone by, very atmospheric and beautiful, The cottage originally two properties now converted into one dwelling makes for a very spacious living accomadation, With its thick tuffeu stone walls the house lives and breathes of days gone by.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Perfect for a small, young family

  • 4 of 5

This cottage is perfectly set up for young families. Everything we needed was at our disposal from minute one - travel cot, high chair, potties, the works. This really makes a difference when travelling with a young child. A fire was burning on arrival, and a hot meal was made available after our long drive. I would also add that the living space is larger than it appears in the photos. The garden is perfect as well for children given the pool, tent, and many many toys! The hosting was also exceptional, and Teresa and Roy were always at our disposal to help with anything. The biggest shame was the weather, which is of course uncontrollable but something to consider when determining when to visit. I would also note that the attractions, e.g. chateaux and things to do for children are all at least a 30-40 min drive away so you need to be prepared to spend some time in the car. My only suggestion for improvement would be a few pairs of slippers to keep feet warm on a chilly evening! All the best.

Lovely holiday in a beautiful location

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely holiday and thoroughly enjoyed our week. Location is excellent and we did lots of exploring of the Loire Valley. Accommodation has everything you need - including log fires if you're chilly which we did use. Garden in particular is excellent especially with a young family. Owners were very friendly and helpful.

Lovely cottage....highly recommended!

  • 4 of 5

The cottage exceeded our initial expectations, the setting and gardens were incredibly spacious and private and the facilities were fantastic and well thought out. The property was clean and really did have everything you needed, very much a home from home which was brilliant with two small children. Teresa and Roy were very friendly and provided good information about the local area, and the key essentials welcome pack was great after a long journey. The location is excellent close by to some lovely lakes, towns and water parks. Would definitely recommend, we had a lovely time.

Gorgeous Gite & garden

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from our weeks stay at Les Rosiers and really loved it. We have a 7 month old baby and Teresa had provided everything we needed-cot, high chair, linen and baby towels-really thoughtful. The living area of the Gite is bigger that it seems from the photos-we had a couple of friends stay for two nights and even with four adults and a baby there was plenty of space.

Our favourite part of the Gite was the garden- again lots and lots of space-fantastic for toddlers and older children and lots of games and toys provided by Roy & Teresa.

The village is only a short drive and we enjoyed getting our daily bread and croissants from the Boulangerie-there is also a good size supermarket close by. The Zoo de Doue was an excellent day out and well worth a visit.

Altogether a lovely relaxing break with plenty of space for baby to explore and be safe- i have already recommended the Gite to friends. Roy, Teresa and Toby were so welcoming-hopefully we shall return!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the fantastic review, we are very pleased you all enjoyed your stay with us. The superb weather we are having now has meant the pool temperature is in the high twenties, perfect for cooling off. Today we investigated a superb sandy beach and picnic area at Chateau Valiere which is just fifteen minutes away. I have uploaded a photograph to our HomeAway site. We would be very pleased to see you again in the future. Best wishes, Teresa, Roy and Toby.

Les Rosiers

  • 5 of 5

This was our 2nd stay at the lovely Les Rosiers. The weather was a little mixed this time, which was a great excuse to visit some of the Troglodyte Caves that we'd heard about during our last visit (there are lots).

Of particular note was the Musee Du Champignon, which is just south of Saumur (20 min drive away), which we all enjoyed, and the kids absolutely loved, and the Le Chateau De Breze, a little further south, which was the high light of our stay - a fantastic castle type Chateau built over a massive network of caves and passageways carved into the rock below - a fantastic day out with picnic areas in and outside the castle within the grounds.

The weather brightened up enough on the last day of our visit to take the kids to Holly park, which is a 20 min drive from the Gite and is basically a mini 'Thorpe Park' for younger children set within the grounds of a very pretty Chateau, which we thoroughly recommend to let the kids run off some steam.

Over all we had a lovely time here again, and hope the next time we come the weather will be warm enough to try out the new swimming pool in the Gite garden.

Thanks for a lovely stay,

Syann & Family
