Superb May Holiday
I stayed at 'number three' with a friend for 9 days in May. The apartment is very clean and spacious with a bath room and a shower room, ideal for 2 couples, and always had plenty of hot water. The kitchen is very well equipped though we didn't cook much because the restaurants in the resort were great. The lounge area is very comfortable though we sat outside on the patio most of the time.
Booking was simplicity itself, direct with the owners. We used their recommended transfer which was very easy to use and efficient. We were greeted at the apartments by the managers who were extremely helpful and offered us a free lift to the supermarket on the outskirts of Carviero where we were able to stock up on heavy items like water and drinks and other basics, which were much cheaper than at the resort supermarkets.
The area around the pool, just outside the apartment was immaculately clean and very quiet, there was plenty of shade if required, sunbeds and brollies and pool towels provided by the owners.(a definate plus if you want to travel light and avoid paying for extra luggage).
The resort itself is beautiful though very hilly. I would not recommend it to wheelchair users, but I did manage ok on crutches! Taxis are readily available and inexpensive. The beach is small, and at the time we stayed, there are no beds or brollies, so consequntly, no shelter from the sun, unless you take the ones provided in the apartment.
There was a vast array of restaurants with plenty of choice of food, mostly around the same price. Main courses around 15 euros. A large beer 3 euros.
We particularly liked Eli Ela. Would recommend booking and trying the 4 course taster menu.
All in all we had a wonderful, hassle free holiday. The locals are very friendly and give good recommendation for places to eat or visit though we didn't venture out of Carviero. I would definatelly recommend this resort to anyone who wants a quiet, relaxing holiday. This apartment has got everything, peacefully situated, handy for minimarkets, restaurants and 10 minutes walk to the beach.
On the negative side I cannot think of anything except the hills and would not recommend it to anyone with mobility problems, unless you have your own transport or are prepared to use taxis.
Owner's Response: We do appreciate the time taken to give such a comprehensive review of our property and of Carvoeiro. As always we are delighted that our guests have enjoyed their time in No 3. We, and our managers in Carvoeiro, Emma and Mike, try to make sure that our guests have everything they need to have a really comfortable home for their sunshine holiday. Regarding the comment about beds and shades on the beach, they are there from June to September . I'm afraid the hills are always there ! The advantage of being on a hill is a quiet position above the town, but we do agree that anyone with mobility problems without a car, will need to use the services of the local taxis. These are plentiful and reasonably priced.
