Flexible self catering accommodation from small families to large groups

Luxury self catering holiday villa on the edge of Archerfield Golf Course and close to North Berwick and Gullane. Close to the best beaches and Championship golf courses of Muirfield and Gullane, yet less than half an hour by train or car to the centre of Edinburgh. Enjoying a rural location close to beaches and golf, yet a short walk to the village inns/shop.

Yellowcraig is a superb 8 bedroom property - the perfect property to accommodate a large group of guests. All bedrooms have luxury en-suite bathrooms or shower rooms. Catering in the villa is available as an optional extra - home cooked Scottish specialities using carefully sourced local ingredients such as North Berwick lobster, crab and shrimp; East Lothian salmon and trout, Aberdeen Angus beef, venison from the nearby estates; Ballencrieff pork and gammon and of course award-winning haggis. We are also able to receive internet grocery orders and provide wine and Scotch malt whisky tasting events to wash everything down.

Sleeping arrangements - main house: Ground floor:

(1) Double bedroom with en-suite shower room, doubling as ground floor WC/shower room.

First floor:

(2) Master bedroom with a super king-sized bed and a luxury en-suite bathroom with waterproof TV facing the free-standing bath. Further large flat screen TV facing the bed. This bedroom can accommodate a further single bed if required.

(3) Double bedroom with a king-sized bed, single bed and en-suite shower room. Flat screen TV.

(4) A family en-suite bedroom with a double bed and a single bed. This room has great sea views of Fidra Island and the Isle of May beyond.

(5) Large bedroom en-suite with three single beds and en-suite bathroom and shower.

Second floor:

(6) Family bedroom with a double bed and a single bed with an en-suite full luxury bathroom. Views of Dirleton Castle

Sleeping arrangements - Granny Flat: For the largest groups, there is a generously proportioned Granny Flat above the triple garage block next to the house. The Granny Flat has its own open plan kitchen (fully equipped and with all mod cons), dining and living room space with a dining table and 6 chairs, three 3-seater sofas (one of which is a double sofa bed) and flat screen TV. The Granny Flat also has two additional bedrooms as follows:

(1) Twin zip and link beds (so the two singles can be combined to form one super king size bed) with en-suite shower room and WC

(2) Double bedroom with en-suite shower room and WC

Outdoors:

There is a private garden with a very large grassed lawn, a paved BBQ patio area with a gas BBQ and outside seating. Private access gate to John Muir Walk pathway.

Yellowcraig House has a large front garden with a parking area for up to 12 cars and to the rear the property has a larged lawned garden and a patio area for outside dining.

Other Features: Kitchen: stunning brand new kitchen with Miele cooking appliances - two gas hobs, two stainless steel ovens, a microwave and a steam oven. Large American style fridge freezer and a separate wine fridge located under the kitchen island. Large granite-topped kitchen island with sink and kettle boiler seats 6. Access out on to the private back garden, patio and barbecue.

Utility Room: large utility room off the kitchen fully equipped with two washing machines, a tumble dryer and additional sink

Sitting room: there is a spacious sitting room with a large open fire, television with Satellite (Sky) and a DVD player

Dining room: formal dining room to seat 12 with access directly out to the private back garden

TV snug: the TV snug is the perfect area for keeping those young at heart entertained! Satellite (Sky) TV, DVD player, Playstation 2, Wii with a full kit for Guitar Hero. Music can be piped throughout the house.

Yellowcraig House was built as a family home in 2008 by the current owners. The focus of the design was family living and entertaining - the centrepiece of the home being a 400 sq.ft family kitchen with large granite-topped central island that seats 6 comfortably. The house has a large living room at one end of the ground floor and a large dining room at the other, close to the kitchen, with a 'snug' for watching TV and playing video games without disturbing those wishing a quieter time in the main living room. The spacious hallway with designer stainless steel, glass and oak staircase creates a real sense of internal space. All bedrooms are en-suite meaning no more morning queues. The house is heated with a geothermal underfloor heating system providing a comfortable environment all year round.

Fabulous!!

I had my hen weekend at yellowcraig house and it was amazing. The location of the house is fantastic and Eric and Heather couldn't have made us feel more welcome. I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for a beautiful house to spend time with family and friends. We had a BBQ on the Saturday in the glorious garden and everyone said the setting had the wow factor. Many thanks, would love to come back again - Laura

We stayed at Yellowcraig House for 4 nights over New Year and had a lovely time.Before our stay had even began the owners,Eric & Heather couldn't do enough for us. As we had mixed ages (4-70!!) staying over the weekend,it was suggested that a visit prior to us staying would be advantageous.Heather showed us around and discussed sleeping arrangements and was very helpful in organising the slight re-shuffle that was required to accommodate our guests.She was also happy to be available for our food delivery order & put it away too!!! All things that show a personal touch that makes the difference from a good experience to a great one!
The house itself is lovely,we felt we had enough space & the large safe garden was a real bonus for the children in our group.So too was the short walk to yellowcraigs beach and the great children's park only 5 minutes away.
We all thoroughally enjoyed our stay at Yellowcraig House & will definately be back again in the future!

Perfect base

A perfect base for exploring North Berwick and the surrounding area; it was a lovely beach walk into the town. The property was beautifully presented and ideal for our large group. Eric and Heather produced a lovely meal on the evening of our arrival and also recommended Chez Roux at Greywalls Hotel, where we went on the saturday night; another outstanding venue and a memorable meal. All in all it was a perfect location for a perfect weekend and we would heartily recommend it to anyone visiting the area..

A great weekend, fantastic house

This was a fantastic house for a large group of friends. All 6 bedrooms had their own en-suite bathroom. The open plan kitchen and dining room was spacious and very well equipped and easily accommodated 12 of us.
On Friday night the owners, Eric and Heather, cooked a delicious dinner for us. This was a perfect, stress-free way to begin the weekend after a long journey.
The beach is very close by and it is possible to walk along the beach to North Berwick.
We had a great weekend and would definitely stay again

The property was amazing, a wonderful house to meet up with family and friends, 6 ensuite bedrooms, huge kitchen, lovely dining area and lounge. We were catered for on the Friday night which was brilliant and a short taxi ride for a superb restaurant on the Saturday. A breathtaking walk into North Berwick on Saturday. Everything you could want for a fantastic weekend.
Thouroughly recommend this venue, would deffinitely think about staying there again.
A marvellous weekend was had by all.

Superb in every way!

We stayed in Yellowcraig House for my dads 80th birthday and can't say enough about our amazing stay! Eric and Heather made us feel so welcome in their beautiful house. The moment you walk through the door you are are wowed by everything about the house! I think we all spent the first moments saying the same things - the wow word featuring regularly! Complete luxury!
Eric and Heather had made a delicious slow cooker meal for us on our first night and on our second night catered a truly amazing meal for the whole family! Also Eric hosted a whiskey tasting event before the meal as part of dads birthday celebrations! This was brilliant and everyone really enjoyed it!
We really enjoyed chilling on the comfy garden chairs just relaxing and taking in the beautiful surroundings. Each morning we enjoyed taking a walk down to the beautiful beach which is just a stones throw away from the front door - bonus!
All in all we are all looking for the next celebration to come along as an excuse for a return visit!

Owner's Response: Having hosted quite a few family get togethers of our own, we always knew Yellowcraig House would work really well for short break and holiday rentals of this type. We have good level access into the front door and a ground floor bedroom to the front of the property with an en-suite walk-in wet room, which is perfect for the more experienced generations.

The 800 sq ft open plan kitchen and dining room create a heart to the home where everyone can gather and enjoy their time together and we use this space to prove our catering, wine and whisky tasting for our guests, which acts as a great ice-breaker and keeps everyone involved.

Archerfield Estate is such a great location and that is why we chose to build Yellowcraig House and Loft there. Whether you are a golf nut or a beach bum, you are right next to some of the best facilities in the country. Despite this rural location, the bright lights of the city of Edinburgh are less than half an hour away by train or car, so you combine a city break with a country retreat.

We were delighted to host your family for your Dad's 80th and hope Tom welcome you back for your next family milestone event very soon. Thanks for being such great guests.

North Berwick is home to three other top class courses - West Links, The Glen and Whitekirk.
