Golf: East Lothian is one of the best regions for golf in Scotland, with 22 courses offering choice to golfers of all standards and tastes. You may recognise many courses - Dunbar, North Berwick, Musselburgh, Gullane, Archerfield and The Open Championship course at Muirfield, are some of the world's oldest and most admired.
East Lothian has a just claim to being the birthplace of golf - the game was played regularly on Musselburgh Links - The Old Course - as far back as 1672. The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, who now play at Muirfield, Gaullane, has records going back to 1744, which makes it the earliest known golf club in the world.
The region offers traditional links and classic inland golf courses, many steeped in history and complimented by modern, challenging, courses. All coupled with friendly clubhouses and affordable green fees. The coastal A198 route, provides easy access for visitors and short journeys between courses.
Gullane is a world renowned name in golf. The spectacular Gullane No 1, 2 and 3 are all first class courses with superb greens and amazing panoramic views. Luffness is another terrific course famous for its long par 4’s and superb putting surfaces. Gullane is also home to The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, Muirfield.
North Berwick is home to three other top class courses - West Links, The Glen and Whitekirk.
From the property, play a different course each day but spend no more than 10 minutes in the car - ideal!
