Authentic self-catering holiday rental Cottage on 12 acre Waterfront Farm.

Overview: Shorefront, newly restored, authentic stone built self-catering holiday home on a Seaside Farm in the stunning and unspoiled Ring of Beara at Pallas, Ardgroom, Beara Peninsula, West Cork - a place to get away from it all. Sleeps up to 6, with bedrooms on the 2nd. floor - see Section on 'Facilities' below for additional details on layout. Central heat and open fireplace. The Cottage is on waterfront property adjoining a pebble strand with spectacular views of Ardgroom Harbour, Kenmare Bay, and the surrounding Caha Mountains. 150 yards from Pallas Pier, which is used by both fishing and recreation boats. Short walk to 2 small sandy beaches - from which Seals can be seen at certain times. Also see seashells along the strand and beaches. Only 2 miles to Ardgroom Village for Pub, Restaurant, and Shop/Cafe - with Internet. Castletownbere, our local Town, is 10 miles away. Fresh water & sea/rock fishing, hill walking, and caves are nearby. Golfing, deep sea fishing, sightseeing cruises, dive & sailing centers, horse riding, and unique gardens are in a 6 to 20 mile range. Archaeology, arts & crafts. Local Activities / Amenities / Road Trips: Castletownbere is a picturesque fishing port - from which there is also leisure deep sea fishing. There is horse riding and a riding school 6 miles away in Urhan (past Eyeries Village). There are unique gardens in two picturesque locations, both by the seaside - Lauragh, Co. Kerry, 6 miles away (at Derreen Gardens) and in Glengarriff, Co. Cork, 25 miles away (in Garnish Island). Boat trips, sailing, canoeing/kayaking and other water sports are at Star Outdoors 18 miles away at Dawros, Co. Kerry, on the Kenmare road (near Kenmare) - overlooking the shorefront is a pub and restaurant at this facility also. 15 miles to the West Cork Sailing & Powerboat Center in Adrigole, Co. Cork. There are canoes and kayacks at this Center as well. In Adrigole there is also a Waterfall - at the foot of Hungry Hill. There is another Waterfall in Gleninchiquin, Co. Kerry, 16 miles away - off the road to Kenmare. Allihies, 15 miles away, has a beach and arts & crafts. At the tip of the Peninsula is historic Dursey Island at 20 miles and is reachable by Cable Car. 40 miles to Killarney National Park & Lakes/Muckross House & Gardens in Co. Kerry. Historic Bantry House & Gardens in Bantry, Co. Cork, is 38 miles away. Another historic location is Bere Island, which can be reached by Ferry from Castletownbere or by the Ferry from Furious Pier about 3 miles east of the Town.

Annual Events: Each year in the first week in August there is a Festival in Castletownbere, which includes a Regatta, Outdoor Music, Children's Carnival, and other activities. The Annual Allihies Festival is held in mid August, and includes Horse Racing, Sports Competitions, and Music. The Eyeries Village Family Festival is held in mid July. In Kenmare, there are also Festivals in July and August.

Restaurants / Cafes / Shops: In addition to the restaurant and the cafe/deli in Ardgroom Village, there is also a restaurant in Eyeries Village 5 miles away - on the road to Castletownbere. Kenmare, Co Kerry, 22 miles away, has many restaurants and cafes. Catletownbere also has some restaurants, cafes, and several pubs that serve food, including the historic McCarthy's Bar. Some of the pubs also have live music. Castletownbere has a bank, Tourist Office, supermarket (with ATM), fish shop, and many other shops. In addition to the fish shop in Castletownbere, Lobster and other fish are available at Shellfish de la Mer a short distance east of the Town.

Address: Molly's Cottage, Pallas, Ardgroom Inward, Beara, County Cork.

Directions: From Ardgroom Village, you go to Ardgroom Inward for 2 miles to Pallas Pier, and Cottage is 150 yards past the Pier on the right hand side on elevated ground, and about 50 yards back from the public road. There is private parking space to the left of the Cottage.

Cottage GPS Coordinates: 51 Degrees, 45 Minutes, 19.15 Seconds North / 9 Degrees, 52 Minutes, 55.61 Seconds West.

Local Activities: Ardgroom Village has a Shop, Post Office/ATM, and Cafe/Deli - with Internet (all in the same premises), a Pub, and Restaurant (Summer). Short walk to 2 small sandy beaches - from which Seals can be seen at certain times (from the strand in front of the Cottage turn left, then turn right on to a small peninsula and the beaches are on the East side). See some seashells along the way. On the Farm see cows, calves, rabbits. A short distance from the Cottage is the beautiful Beara Way walking trail running along cliffs overlooking the shorefront, and from which there is a panaramic view of the Bay and the Kerry Mountains stretching from the Atlantic Ocean to Kenmare. The Cottage is 150 yard from Pallas Pier which is used by both fishing and recreation boats. Sea/Rock fishing available nearby, close to the Beara Way. Fresh water fishing at Glenbeg Lake 3 miles away.

Payment is usually accepted in the quoted currency (Euro) unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner / advertiser.

Notes

  • Towels and bed linen are provided. Final cleaning of Cottage and washing of bed linen and towels are included in rent.

    Electricity & Heating Oil are extra based on usage and payable at end of stay when the meters are read - normally in the 25 to 35 Euro range per week.

    Booking deposit is 30% of rent. We will hold your reservation for 7 days pending receipt of deposit. Balance is due 2 months prior to your stay. Payment is in Euro via bank transfer. Rental period is from Saturday to Saturday, but we may be able to arrange other days. Check-in time is after 3pm and check-out time is before 11am, but we may be able to arrange other times. Terms and conditions for the rental of the Annex are the same as those for the rental of the Cottage.

    Travel Cot, Child Bed, Child Safety Gate, and Baby Chair available.

    Radio and CD Player available.

An ideal cottage to rest and unwind

As regular visitors to the Beara we were delighted to find a perfect locatiion to relax and unwind. The rustic charm of a beauifully renovated cottage has everyting that you need and more to have an enjoyable stay. Ideal location for lovely long walks with amazing scenery.Nice and snug with an open fire if you wish. Local manager near- by should you need them. The weather was perfect, yes perfect no rain whatsoever that also enhanced our trip!
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Sightseeing, Romantic Getaway
