Bliss Cottage is a cosy free-standing holiday home situated 300 m from the beach in the Blaauwberg Region, 19 km north of the Cape Town city centre. Our comfortable, well-appointed home from home has a 3-star grading from the South African Tourism Grading Council and is the ideal self-catering haven from which to explore the delights of Cape Town and its surrounds.

Accommodation

Sleeps 4 in 2 separate bedrooms. Main bedroom (with queen-size double bed, high-definition satellite TV) opens onto a private enclosed patio. Second bedroom with two single beds

One bathroom with bath/shower combo, washbasin & toilet

Lounge/dining-room with satellite TV & DVD opens onto private enclosed outdoor patio with built-in barbecue.

Open-plan kitchen, fully equipped with cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils, fridge/freezer, microwave, 4-plate electric stove & oven, dishwasher & Britta water purifier

Lock-up single garage with washing machine & dryer

All linen, towels and beach towels supplied.

Dining: Bliss Cottage is a self-catering establishment. However, you'll find a wide variety of bars and restaurants within a 1-10 km radius, including the ever-popular local hang-out Doodles, 200 m down the road (breakfast/lunch/dinner/drinks). Other dining in the area includes MOYO, a true African experience at Eden on the Bay (3 km). Here you will also find a wide array of breakfast and dining options with ocean views including Ciao Baby Cucina (Italian) and Cafe Sofia Beach Bar. All along Marine Drive (2-3 km from the front door) are a number of dining options and bars with great ocean and mountain views, including Primi Blue and Col-cacchios (really good pizzas), News Cafe, Ocean Basket and the excellent Blowfish Restaurant at Dolphin Beach Hotel (really good sushi and fresh fish). Toward Bloubergstrand is Ons Huisie (traditional food) and On The Rocks (seafood).

Public Transport: Catch the efficient and frequent My CiTi bus service at the Shell Road feeder station 400m from the front door. This means you can get to and from the airport without a vehicle (depending on luggage), enjoy a stress-free ride to the city centre, the Gardens & the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront where a myriad of tourist and sight-seeing opportunities are on offer. At the V&A you can also catch the ever popular City Hop-on, Hop-off double-decker open-top sightseeing bus - the easy, fun way to explore the city and Peninsula sights including Table Mountain Cable Car, Kirstenbosch Gardens and Cape Point Nature Reserve.

A number of reliable taxi services are on offer as well as a variety of car rental services.

Entertainment: Within a radius of 1-10 km you'll find a wide variety of bars, restaurants, shopping malls, cinemas, a very well-equipped Virgin Active gym as well as two links golf courses. The beach front is a year-round hotspot for jogging, cycling, roller-blading, and kite-surfing. On nearby Rietvlei nature reserve you can windsurf and water-ski, while the many beaches in the vicinity are a favourite hangout for local surfers. Mountain-biking and hiking are available at Koeberg Nature Reserve where you can spot Springbok, Eland, Zebra, Bontebok, Blesbok, angulated tortoises and even the odd Cape Cobra, to name but a few. Blaauwberg is also the gateway to the Cape West Coast where the annual flower season in Spring (August to October) remains one of nature's most magnificent displays of beauty. Between August and November you may even spot whales playing in the bay.

Bliss Cottage is situated in the Blaauwberg Region, 19 km north of Cape Town. Only 300 m from the front door, you can enjoy the sandy white beaches of the Blaauwberg Coast which arguably offers the most spectacular views of Table Mountain across Table Bay as well as Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela and many other political prisoners were incarcerated. Things to see & do include: Kite- & wind-surfing & a variety of local surfing spots, including Big Bay, close by; Easy access to city, Table Mountain, Winelands & west coast flowers (in season); Wide variety of restaurants within 500m – 2 km; Links golf at Atlantic Beach or Milnerton Golf course;

  • Deposit, security deposit & final payment

    25% deposit payable (by direct electronic bank transfer or credit card) within 48 hours of booking being confirmed by us. Should transfer not take place, we will assume booking has been cancelled. The remainder of accommodation fee will be payable at least 14 days prior to occupation date (for bank transfers and credit card payments). For cash payments, full balance must be handed over on receipt of keys. Please note: under no circumstances will the keys be handed over unless payment has been received in full.

    A security deposit of up to R1250 (in cash) could be required for guests staying for periods in excess of 2 days. This deposit will be refunded, in full, in the event of nothing at the property is broken, damaged or missing when property is vacated. All damage/breakages will be charged for at replacement cost.
  • Refunds & indemnity

    90% refund if cancellation received 8 weeks prior to occupation date
    50% refund if cancellation received between 4 and 8 weeks prior to occupation date
    25% refund if cancellation received between 2 and 4 weeks prior to occupation date
    No refund if cancellation received less than 7 days to occupation date.

    All guests and/or visitors to Bliss Cottage make use of the premises and its contents at their own risk and Bliss Cottage, its owners and/or employees or agents shall not be held responsible or accountable for any loss or damage of any nature whatsoever experienced by any guest or visitor to these premises.
  • Cleaning services
    Bliss Cottage is a self-catering establishment. It is thus not serviced daily. For occupation in excess of 4 days, a complimentary linen change and cleaning service will be given mid-stay. For occupation in excess of 7 days, a complimentary linen change and cleaning service will be give approximately every 4 days (excluding Sundays and Public Holidays where the service will be given on the previous day or the first day after the Holiday). However, an additional cleaning/washing/ironing service is available at R200 per day (to be organised in advance).

A lovely little house

Bliss Cottage is a lovely cottage. Louise and Jean were the perfect owners- welcoming us to Bliss Cottage and helping us with any queries during our 2 week stay. The cottage is well equipped, modern and has a large living space. The location close to the beach was perfect, and the view across to Table Mountain every morning was fabulous.

EXCELLENT!!! By far the best self catering we have ever stayed in. We spent 2 weeks in Blouberg Bliss and found it to be exceptionally well maintained, clean and well appointed. Absolutely everything we could have needed during our stay and more we found in the cottage and the owners were extremely friendly and more than willing to accomodate any special requests we had. The cottage has a fantastic homely feeling and we really felt like it was home away from home. Every moment of our stay in the cottage was pleasurable and we couldn't have made a better choice in accomodation for our stay! Thanks - we will definitely be back!!

At Bliss Cottage it is definitely our aim to create a home from home environment for our guests where all they need to bring is themselves, their clothes and their food. We try to equip the cottage with the rest of the day to day necessities, such as salt, pepper, basic spices and herbs, tea and coffee, cleaning materials and washing powder.

Perfection 300 m from the beach

What a fantastic place! It's rare to find a place that looks exactly as you expect it to, and then some... Louise's artistic touches are evident from the moment you open the door: budding roses in a vase, gourmet coffee, Woolworths' Ayrshire milk and balsamic vinaigrette in the fridge, huge bottles of olive oil, herbs, spices on the kitchen shelf, electronic mosquito pad, washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets, laundry washing powder, well-stocked wine rack with an honesty box. The list goes on: full Dstv with 2 flat screen TVs, beach towels, non-slip bathmat for our baby, as well as a camp cot set up for us, and a baby chair for the table. Percale linen in the bedrooms, huge comfy couch and armchairs in the lounge, lovely leafy patio with sun lounger. We entertained while we were there, and it was just like being at home. All this just a short 300m walk to the beach! We will certainly be back. Can't wait!

A delightful place to stay

Last week my wife and I and our two boys had the pleasure of spending a few days at Bliss Cottage. We found it to be a clean, well eqiupped, well located, secure home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and we would confidently recommended it to friends and family.
