Stylish luxury in a well designed contemporary family home with traditional plantation house charm. The property is located in half an acre of gorgeous tropical gardens, with a private pool. It is spacious, offering 2,000 sq feet of interior space plus 1,000 sq feet of covered balcony which wraps around the whole villa, and is accessible via French doors from every room. The 3 bedrooms have French doors to three different sides of the balcony, maximising privacy. The climate, stunning sea views, hummingbirds & cooling breezes draw you to outdoor living here, and the huge balcony has a comfortable seating area for reading & sundowners along with two outside dining tables to choose from. A double staircase leads down to the pool, with outdoor shower, sun loungers, and a decked gazebo for dappled shade. The living area and balcony is on one level, with just three steps up from the parking area, making access very easy. Supervision of children/toddlers is essential for safe use of the pool and balcony. The house has Wifi.

Kitchen: The contemporary kitchen is very spacious, and fully equipped with all you could need to make a snack or a gourmet meal. It is light and airy, with French doors to the balcony. A second balcony dining table with chairs is located near the kitchen French doors.

Internet: The house has wireless broadband and a small workstation in the living room looking out to sea .

Sun loungers: Sun loungers are provided which can be used by the pool, under the shady gazebo, or on the balcony.

Electrical supply: The electrical supply throughout the house is 120 volts and 60 cycles with US style flat pin sockets.

Additionally each bedroom has one special socket offering 240 volts and 60cycle with a converter that will take both UK square pin and European round pin plugs. Perfect for recharging mobile phones.

Water supply: the water supply is eco-friendly, natural soft rainwater, collected from the house roof, and and stored in an underground tank. While it is not recommended for drinking, it can be used for cooking when food is boiled. It is wonderful soft water to use for showering as so little soap is required. As Antigua is one of the driest of the Caribbean islands, water is precious, so we ask our guests to go 'green' and use our natural water supply with care.

Drinking water: there is a free standing water cooler in the kitchen, which takes five gallon bottles, which are available at the supermarket just down the road. The cooler is similar to those you find in offices.

Toddlers & young children: must be constantly supervised in & around the pool, on the steps leading down to the pool from the balcony, and also when on the balcony, due to the traditional Caribbean open design of the balcony railings, through which a determined toddler/small child could climb.

Pool: the palm fringed pool (25 feet x 12 feet) has an all over depth of approx 4ft 3 ins/1.30 m with steps leading down into the water, where you can sit and linger awhile with a cocktail in hand. A wide selection of unbreakable plastic 'poolside' glasses for exactly this purpose can be found in the kitchen. There is an outdoor shower beside the pool, with hot & cold water. The pool is professionally serviced once a week all year round, as the water temperature never normally falls below 70 degrees Fahrenheit, and is usually above 80f during the day.

House management: the house is professionally managed and looked after for the owners when absent, by Anna Todd of Island Rentals in English Harbour. Anna speaks fluent English and German, and can be reached during normal weekday office hours on 462 2662 or mobile 726 2662. The house is cleaned once a week. Extra cleaning can be provided by prior arrangement with Anna. A gardener maintains the garden year round.

Delightful Villa

The villa was wonderful. Everything worked. We loved the pool, the views, the garden (Milton, the gardener, who came twice in the week, was very pleasant), eating outdoors on the veranda, the outdoor shower, lounging on the veranda, watching the birds (which we kept well-fed with your bird feeders). We cooked in three nights and had breakfast at the villa every day. The kitchen was well-stocked with utensils, glasses, plates, etc., and there's a nice, big outdoor propane grill. The property managers, Anna and Peter, were lovely and provided starter groceries/essentials, waiting for us when we arrived. We liked stocking up on food and beer and topping up the mobile at very nearby Bailey's market, next to which there is a delish ice cream and snack shop called Sweet Ts, which has awesome milkshakes. A few minutes away in Liberta is VJ's Bakery, which has great breads and sweets, and even pizza! The info sheets Malcolm the owner provides were great, full of tips on the house, nearby and further afield restaurants, and an insider's guide to area beaches. We did a two-hour sailing yacht charter one afternoon with Ondeck, located 5 minutes away in the harbor. The villa is only about 30 minutes from the airport, but it's on the quieter and quainter side of the island, away from the big resorts and where there's more breathing room.

What makes this island so special, I think, though, are the people. Both the locals and the expats are so friendly, so willing to help out. Often, cars would pull up next to us as we pulled over to read the map, not to lecture us for being in the way, but to offer directions and suggestions, or an offer to follow them. I've never experienced this kind of uniform and genuine friendliness in my travels, anywhere. Most unique.

Great villa. Lovely owners. Great island. Great assortment of restaurants and day trip activities to keep you busy when you want to do something besides go to the beach. Very friendly people on the island. Highly recommend this villa and the island of Antigua.

An outstanding villa.

In march 2014 we spent the most idyllic three weeks staying at Sea Shanty, Antigua. The villa was beautifully furnished, spacious and extremely well equipped. The property and it's colourful garden have both been extremely well maintained. Views over Falmouth Harbour are exceptional and the pool is very welcoming.

The extensive information provided about restaurants, beaches and places of interest was very helpful. It made exploring the island very easy.

The villa is ideally located for local shops and a variety of excellent local restaurants. There are also plenty of places of historical interest nearby. A Sundown at Shirley Heights and a trip to Fryers Beach are a must as is a visit to Half Moon Bay.

We give Sea Shanty and it's location 10/10 and would certainly like to return next year. We very much enjoyed ourselves on this safe, welcoming and beautiful island and can't recommend it enough.

A superb villa , great location

A beautiful airy, spacious well equipped villa with a fantastic location and views to die for. This was was the second time my husband and I have stayed at Sea Shanty and we remained incredibly impressed by the property. The managing agents provide a discreet but excellent service tailored to meet individual requirements. A wide range of beautiful beaches and excellent restaurants are minutes away. We hope to return next year.

A fabulous, stylish and relaxing place to stay

My husband and I had a truly memorable holiday in Sea Shanty and hope to return again soon. The house was beautiful with wonderful sea views and it was great to be able to go out onto the deck from any room. The pool was always a perfect temperature and great for lazing around after a busy day enjoying one of the many nearby beaches. Antigua is a stunning place to visit and this property proved to be a fabulous base both for relaxing in style and exploring the island.

Sea Shanty a delightful property

I stayed for ten days with my sister last summer. It was a beautiful time of year to visit with far fewer tourists around. The weather was divine. We were looking for peace and quiet and we found it. You can enjoy amazing meals in some fantastic restaurants very close by. The views from the villa are just breath taking and there are notes and books on what activities are available. The gardens are wonderfully lush and extremely well maintained. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could possibly need and the house very well maintained and furnished exquisitely. We were met by a hire car company recommended by the owner and were supplied with a map to explore the island.

Sea Shanty is a really lovely house which I would certainly use again without hesitation.

Beautiful Villa

We stay in this lovely villa everytime we visit Antigua.

The property is very well planned with alot of useable space and is very comfortably furnished. The all-round covered balcony has fantastic views over Falmouth Harbour and is perfect for the outdoor living that is possible with the Antiguan climate.

All rooms and the kitchen are well equiped.

The garden is even more beautiful and establised than the photos suggest and the planting gives total privacy to the property and pool.

The ceiling fans in the bedrooms are very effective and we believe they are actually more comfortable than air-con.

The local supermarket is 300 yds away and all the attractions of Nelson's Dockyard and Shirley Heights are close by.

We hope to stay at this villa again.

The beautiful Par 70, and 6,157 yards golf course, lies amidst mature tropical trees, vistas on hills, and the Caribbean Sea, providing an enjoyable, inspiring and very challenging golf game. The Golf Club welcomes players of all skills levels to play and to enjoy the exciting and breathtaking scenery this course has to offer.
