memories of Umbria

Review Submitted: January 20, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2008
Well-appointed comfortable apartment in a new development that is the perfect rural retreat in unspoilt Umbria. We stayed for a week in September 2008 and thoroughly enjoyed exploring and absorbing the culture in the surrounding towns of Orvieto, Perugia and Assisi, along with numerous hillside villages, sampling delicious local produce and restaurants. We returned to the apartment each evening to enjoy a meal washed down with a bucket of local oustanding wine! The terrace is the perfect spot to enjoy the outstanding views whilst the sun beats down or to gaze at the stars (or even enjoy a spectacular thunderstorm!), after alfresco supper at the candlelit table. The locals were so friendly and helpful in the nearby medieval village of Ficulle that daily trips to buy fresh bread and provisions were a real treat - the simple pleasures of a morning coffee became an important part of the day, we really felt that we were experiencing rural Umbria and look forward to returning......

Memorable and enjoyable holiday

Review Submitted: July 22, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We enjoy our holidays and our recent visit to Torre de Monaldeschi proved to be no exception - in fact we would probably list this as one of our better experiences. Good comfortable well appointed accommodation is a vital factor towards an enjoyable and successful holiday - and Torre does not disappoint. This region of Italy offers great scope for exploration and sight-seeing - we visited Siena, Perugia, Assisi, Montepulciano together with numerous other medieval villages. Also a trip to the coast proved to be both pleasant and worthwhile. We made numerous visits to the local town of Orvieto - which can be accessed by the Finicular, a series of elevators or car - the lower town of Orvieto Scalo offers supermarkets etc., for all your necessary provisions - particularly the good local wine at only 2 - 3 euros a bottle.

Definitely both an enjoyable and memorable holiday for us.

Busy Italian Break Away!

Review Submitted: January 19, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2008
We spent a week in Umbria in October 2008 and used the apartment as our base for sight-seeing and travelling around the region. It was a perfect central location to explore the wine regions of Umbria and Tuscany and also enabled us to have city stays in both Rome and Assissi via a superbly convenient train service (taking under an hour to most large destinations).

The scenery and views are breathtaking especially in Autumn when we had our trip. The colours and misty mornings were quite spectacular.

The apartment is beautifully kept with everything we needed. It was especially enjoyable to sit outside in the evenings to dine.

Car hire is essential as the location is a little remote and families with very young children may find this aspect less easy to manage. For us however, this added to a perfect restful getaway!

autumn holiday

This excellent well maintained and well equipt home is ideal for adventurous sightseers. The stunning views and location, peaceful environment suited us over sixties very well. However my daughter and young family went separately and also found it ideal especially as the children loved the pool.We went in October and the weather was perfect. Loved the food in a choice of restaurants in the area. It is aperfect base for exploring Assissi,Todi and Sienna. Would recommend hiring a car at Rome rather than Pisa. There is plenty of advice and information available, and the b b cue is just perfect for us. The nlocal wine very drinkable!I would have no hesitation in recommending it to a friend. Orvieto town can be visited again and again- lovely- Dennis and Judy

1 week stay in Torre de Monaldeschi

Stef & Tom Manchester
Review Submitted: November 12, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
With the apartment being in the centre of Umbria (a 20 minute drive from Orvieto) it makes for a perfect location to visit some of the beautiful and popular locations including Lake Bolsena, Perugia or Rome (an hour on the train from Orvieto). We spent a lovely week visiting many places to always return to the comfortable and cosy apartment each day.

Beautifully furnished you feel at home with everything you need and each room attractively finished. With friendly neighbours and the beautiful surrounding Umbrian mountains all around us it made for a very peaceful stay. We spent a relaxing day sat on the rear terrace drinking the local Orvieto wine and couldn’t have been happier. If you’re looking for a quiet spot to escape from everything and enjoy the beautiful Italian countryside then this apartment will suit you well.
