APARTMENT IN TALLINN, ESTONIA, AFFORDABLE LUXURY IN THE MEDIEVAL OLD TOWN

Things to do in Tallinn, Estonia: 3 things to include on your visit to Tallinn, Estonia:1) Walk around the medieval Old Town and ideally choose Tallinn accommodation that is located here, as this is where all the main sites are. There are two distinct parts to the Old Town, one is built on a hill called Toompea and the other part is the Lower Town. 2) Town Hall Square: This will be just 2 minutes walk from your apartment. It is the social heart of the old town and is surrounded by impressive medieval buildings. There is nearly always something happening here, such as the traditional lively market, or one of Tallinn’s festivals or music performances. There are also many al fresco restaurants and bars around the town square. 3) Toompea Castle: Just a short walk from our Tallinn accommodation is this breathtaking 13th / 14th century medieval castle. The Estonian parliament is currently based here. Next to it you’ll see a pink Baroque palace dating from the time of Catherine the great. There are also great city views.

Best Tallinn restaurants: The 3 restaurants I like most in Tallinn: 1. Cafe VS – Indian food (address: Parnu mnt. 28) This is one of my favourite Tallinn restaurants. Great Indian food plus a good varied European menu. The restaurant has a trendy, stylish interior and the food very affordable. 2. Silk – Japanese food (address: Kullassepa 4)In my opinion the best sushi restaurant in Tallinn. It is quite expensive, but the quality of the food is outstanding. They have 3 restaurants with my favourite being the one just off of the old town main square. two min walk from our apartment. 3. Olde Hansa – Medieval (address: Vana turg 1) This in the Town Hall square, also two min walk from our apartment. Here you can experience a traditional medieval feast. With wooden benches, atmospheric candles, buxom serving wenches and jugs of honey beer. What ever kind of food you like, I can recommend somewhere, as I lived in Tallinn before moving to London and have been to most restaurants.

Best bars in Tallinn, Estonia: Here are my 3 top Tallinn bars: 1. Clayhills – (address: Pikk 13) This is on the same street as our apartment. It has a restaurant and a very friendly relaxed bar. There are sofas and arm chairs to sit in and it is a great place for a leisurely drink. 2. Hell Hunt – (address: Pikk 39) One of the liveliest bars in Tallinn, with a great outside area. Also on Pikk street, so just a minutes walk from the apartment. Given the happy atmosphere here, this is also a good place for a few drinks and something to eat before moving on to a nightclub. 3. Nimeta Bar / The Pub with no name – (address: Suur-Karja 4) If you want a traditional British pub, with good food, cheap beer and sports on the big screen TV's, this is the place for you.
