The unique hot spring of the gulf of Gera, 10 minutes distance by car from our resort dates back to the beginning of the last century. Renovations have respected the original architecture of the baths. The seperate baths for men and women are the largest on the island. The water is comfortably warm and you could easily spend a day paddling around or lounging on the ledges that line the pool. The big marble swimming pool looks thousand years old.

The nearest beaches also ten minutes by car situated out of the gulf are Haramida beach and Agios Ermogenis beach. You can find a lot of tavernas around the area.

Lesvos is blessed with Award-winning beaches, traditional villages, more varieties of birds and wildflowers than anywhere in Europe, pine forests, medieval castles, scenic harbors with cafes and inexpensive seafood restaurants abundant fish, museums including two of the finest art museums in Greece, and some of warmest, friendliest people in all Greece.

Lesvos (or Lesbos) has been a favorite location for artists, writers, philosophers, romantics. It is the native land of Sappho, Alcaeus, Theofrastos student of Aristoteles, Ermarhos student of Epicurus, down to Teriade the famous modern art critic and publisher who donnated a Modern art museum to Lesbos, the Nobel prize honnored Oddyseas Elytis and many other famous greek writers.

Furthermore, the natural beauties of the island, thankfully, are still unharmmed from human intervention and provide a prevailing atmosphere which sustains that rich intellectual and cultural heritage .

The tiny beaches of Lesbos and its unrivalled sunsets complement the island's most important natural resource, it's olive grooves which cover 40% of the island. Side by side with these features, are the works of man down the centuries: Aeolian column capitals, houses of incomparable architectural beauty and traditional industrial buildings find it easy to co-exist with works of art of invaluable value.

If you can come to Lesvos in the spring you will amply be awarded with one of the most incredible displays of wildflowers and wildbirds you have ever seen. Lesvos is a main stop in the migration routes for European birds coming from Africa and has an amazing variety of local birds.

Family holiday...

5 of 5
Submitted: April 1, 2013 Stayed: August 2012
Stayed for 2 weeks in August 2012 with my husband and 6 year old son. We have family living nearby. Instead of it feeling like a holiday, it was like home, with you very own beach. It is a perfect mix of tradition and new. There was nothing we needed, it has it all. It just a few minutes by car to Mytiline yet when at the villa you wouldn't think it. I have been visiting lesvos now for 10 years as I was married there, it this is the best I have found and so shall defiantly be returning. Only one thing that I would love to see is a pool..

beauty and tranquillity

5 of 5
Submitted: June 23, 2012 Stayed: June 2012
We stayed for 9 days in June 2012, 2 couples, 1 small child.
The house is comfortable, calm, well maintained.
The view of the sea right in front with no road to cross is beautiful and rare (and makes it easy to go for a swim whenever you feel like it). The house is surrounded by olive trees and beautiful twisted old pine trees. There are also apricot and pear trees which were all ripening when we arrived. The owner, George, was friendly, provided a generous package of food to get started and not just any old food : fresh eggs from his chickens, his own honey, olive oil from his trees, home baked cake and some basic stuff like butter, coffee, bread... and took the time to describe the area.
There's air-conditioning which we also didn't turn on, preferring the breeze with the windows open. Luckily the mosquito netting on the window kept most flies and mosquitos out. Outside we weren't bothered by many but in the hot months there are probably quite a few.
There's a swing, a kayak (we didn't use it),a pond with gold fish (a little sad), a volleyball net, 3 hammocks, our little girl had fun playing with the pine cones... There are 3 friendly dogs belonging to George's brother. They don't come over but we said we liked them so he let them wander over. They had no names so we named two of them : Moustache and Chaussettes.
You need transportation of some sort because there are no shops nearby, we rented a car (250 euros for 9 days). There is a tavern reachable on foot and all along the bay there are other taverns; the one's we tried were excellent.
For food we went to Mytilini where we bought fresher vegetables (courgette flowers!) and fish than you will see anywhere, especially if you go in the morning. There are probably some great restaurants there too, we went to one on the port which was too touristy for us.
Like most beaches on the island it is pebbly so if you have tender feet some plastic sandals are needed, and you need to watch out for sea urchins in some parts. We went barefoot no problem. And because its a bay it's very calm.
So I think I've been pretty clear, we had a very nice time.

A place to relax

My stay at 'Villa Pyrgi' was an unforgettable experience. The house is fully equipped, comfortable and cosy and the surroundings are truly beautiful. I spent most of my time there on the veranda and the garden, admiring the views and taking in the serenity of the landscape. The owners were very helpful, friendly and discreet and provided us with lots of useful information. I definitely recommend it to people seeking a place to relax and rejuvenate.

My ideal home..

5 of 5
Submitted: November 22, 2011 Stayed: December 2010
What a place.. I 've stayed there three times, Easter, Summer and the last time Christmas and the most difficult would be to chose which visit was the best of all. It is so beautiful i barely wanted to leave and visit the rest of the island. The view is astounding, the sea seen on a quiet day seems like a vast beautiful lake, quiet and remote, you feel it all belongs to you. I still remember one summer night, my birthday night, sipping wine lying on the hammocks under the tall pine trees, listening to the waves lapping on the beach. The house is old and beautiful, built of rock , very tastefully decorated, it makes one feel at home, a very ideal home. The facilities more than one asks from a holiday house, there is also olive oil from their grove and honey from the island. The owners are very nice, helpful and friendly. And if you are a passionate stroller, like me, the area is ideal and there is a small village closeby and a tavern by the seaside serving delicious food and fresh fish. And, not to be missed, a 10 min ride by car are the thermal baths Also very good is that it is a 5 minute drive to the main road that leads to most villages and small towns in Lesvos.
Sometimes when distressed i close my eyes and bring myself back to this place, i and this is one spot on this planet where i want to return again and again.
