It has superb views across the Rhone valley and the surrounding mountain ridges of the Bernese and Valais Alps. Access to Verbier and surrounding 4 Valleys Ski area is literally on your doorstep. The chalet is a few feet from the piste, which is a lovely blue run through the trees, or for the more adventurous there is an itineraire. Welcome to La Tzoumaz: Chassoure - luxurious ski in ski out self catered chalet in the Verbier/Swiss 4 valleys area
La Tzoumaz nestles in a pretty, green sided valley on the left side of the Rhone at an altitude of 1500m. The valley lies about halfway between Martigny and Sion, fabulous snow-capped mountains.
La Tzoumaz is ideally situated for winter sports. As a valley station of the Savoleyres cable-car it allows access to magnificent runs where it is possible to ski until the end of April. A wide variety of ski tows, chair lifts and cable-cars, provide connections to other resorts in the 4 Valleys region. Together with Verbier, Nendaz, Veysonnaz, La Tzoumaz form one of the largest ski areas in Switzerland offering over 400 km of runs and 100 lift installations.
In addition, La Tzoumaz also offers its guests, a small ski lift for children, a natural ice rink and a floodlit sledge run, for those in search of a surge of adrenalin.
La Tzoumaz in the Winter: As part of the 4 Valleys, one of Europe’s largest skiing domains, (400 km of ski runs, 100 ski lifts) La Tzoumaz welcomes its skiing guests until the end of April. If you want you can ski all year round thanks to the glacier off Mont Fort. The 4-Valleys region is one of the only seven ski areas worldwide to hold 5 stars of excellence.
Beginners as well as experienced skiers can have fun in La Tzoumaz where skilifts, chair lifts and cable cars ensure an excellent liaison with the rest of the 4 Valleys region. In addition, a baby lift allows absolute beginners to gain confidence in perfect safety. There is a Swiss Ski School on site for expert instruction. Snowboarders: have complete freedom of movement on the La Tzoumaz ski runs. Sledging: Access to the sledge run is via the cable car to Savoleyres (2354m). From the top there is a 10km run back to the village at 1506m covering an 848m difference in altitude. Hele-Skiing: Flights leave from the Croix-de-Coeur for the Petit Combin.

Chalet Chassoure is perfectly placed for ski in/ski out holidays. Situated on a blue run with fantastic views and scenic trails through the forest. The village is conveniently nearby without intruding on your tranquillity. We have found people friendly and willing to help.
We reply to emails and enquiries quickly and will offer a personal service, offering advice and help on the surrounding areas.
If anywhere is the perfect skiing chalet, this is it. Very well equipped and maintained, roomy, warm and comfortable accommodation in a superb position above La Tzoumaz with beautiful views over the Rhone valley. Ski-in ski-out as well, with a short sharp ski down to the main La Tzoumaz lift to get you going and a beautiful long easy return through the woods from the slopes when you're done for the day.
Skiing on Savoleyres from the top of the La Tzoumax lift can be pretty good for intermediates to hone their on-piste technique and try some offpiste in safety without the need to trek over to the sunnier but much more crowded Verbier valley. Having said that, the off-piste opportunities from the Verbier side are enormous, the Four Valleys tour is a must and if you are feeling brave the Tortin and Vallon d'Arbi itineraries will sort out whether you are as good a skier as you think you are.
La Tzoumaz village is small and unsophisticated but has a more than adequate supermarket, very good ski hire shops and restaurants where you will eat well at reasonable prices (for Switzerland) - au Feu de Bois definitely worth a try. If you need a day away from the slopes, Sion which is about 40 minutes away by road is an attractive town with good shops - not quite Verbier smart but pretty classy - and good mega-superstores at Conthey on the way.
Andrew Butcher who owns Chalet Chassoure is extremely friendly and helpful and gives a heap of useful advice on everything about getting to the chalet and what to do when you get there. I would certainly recommend Chalet Chassoure and La Tzoumaz to anyone looking for a really relaxing and comfortable holiday with excellent skiing on the doorstep.
Every member of our family (six adults) had a brilliant holiday at Chalet Chassoure.
Good decor, very warm with underfloor heating. cozy, comfortable, super views and very relaxing. It ticked all the boxes.
Well equipped. Lots of books, dvds, pots, pans, bedding, chairs, etc, etc.
The photos really don't do the bedrooms justice. The full length patio doors give amazing views. The high position allows privacy.
Sauna was wonderful. The clever set up means the second bedroom still has privacy if other guests want to use the second bathroom.
The skiing was superb. Personally, I didn't like the short red from the chalet to the telecabin - but don't let me put you off - its not that steep but gets narrow. if you are nervous, just snow plough!
Chalet Chassoure/La Tzoumaz/Verbier is great for everyone who can ski (easy blues to terrifying blacks). I think absolute beginners should take basic lessons at home first - then La Tzoumaz has some brilliant blues. The more confident skiers in our group loved the marked (yellow) off piste tracks - including Vallon D'Arbi that led back to the chalet. There was also a nice blue that runs through the trees back to the chalet - making it ski in ski out.
If you have skied to Verbier, you may need to take a very short link by bus to get back from base of Medran lift to the Savoleyres lift. Again, don't be put off. This is fast, frequent, free and really no hassle. I think there is talk of a new lift link in the next season or two.
La Tzoumaz village is a bit of a hike but has an acceptable supermarket for groceries, baguettes and crossiants. Our shoppers sometimes used the free bus to get up the hill (get off at the very close Etablon lift stop). We saved a bit by stocking up on food/wine in France on the way to Switzerland.
The road outside the cabin is cleared regularly but we still needed snow chains (much cheaper to buy in the French supermarkets south of Dijon than home).
The owner was helpful and provided all the advice we needed. The check in/check out process was hassle free.
The garage was great for storing ski's. There are snow shovels and sledges which our non-skier had great fun using.
No bad points, except the lack of wifi.
Totally recommend Chalet Chassoure.
We (4 adults, 2 children) just came back from a wonderful week in chalet La Chassoure. The chalet is well equipped, clean and perfectly situated near the slopes. We enjoyed the sauna on several occasions! You can reach the piste by skiing on a path for about 150 meters. There you will find the nice après-ski bar Les Etablons. You need a car if you want to go to the small centre of La Tzoumaz.
The skilift brings you right into the area La Tzoumaz-Savoleyres which is fine for average skiers and also nice if you want to go off-piste. The downhill path brings your right to the chalet. That's very convenient if you like a quick bite in the chalet at noon.
It's easy to reach the Verbier ski area and go further into Le Quatre Vallées but you have to come back by bus (just a short ride) from Verbier to Savoleyres or take the very pretty but challenging Vallon d'Arbi route which brings you right to the chalet. We did it on one occasion and loved it!
I can also recommend the Swiss skiing school for the children. They have French, English, German, Italian and even Dutch speaking teachers. The children learned a lot and the medal ceremony on friday on the town's square was a nice closure.
The only disadvantage is the lack of wifi. To establish a connection is apparently quite expensive. You can enjoy (sometimes weak) free wifi in the nearby bar Les Etablons.
In short : a great chalet if you like being on/near the slopes with a very friendly and helpful owner.
We could enjoy a marvellous stay in this charming chalet. It's location is superb, virtually on the slopes.
All comfort for a most enjoyable and relaxing pre and after ski were available.
We can but fully recommand it to anyone, eager on having a unique holiday!
Lovely Chalet, properly described as Ski in Ski out .the Chalet was clean well maintained spacious and ideal for six people ,easy access to Verbier.I would recommend to friends and family ,a car is desirable but not essential ,the village walk is 15 minutes .The Luge run is great fun and not to be missed ,overall a pleasant place to stay and we would visit again.
La Tzoumaz is located in the Valais Canton which is one of the southern Swiss cantons and only 90 minutes from Geneva. La Tzoumaz is part of the ‘4 vallées’ region, connected with Verbier, Nendaz, Veysonnaz, Thyon and offering more than 400 km of ski runs of the blue, red, and black type. In summer it is an ideal place for hiking, mountain biking, mountaineering, fishing, golf, walking and all kinds of outdoor activities. La Tzoumaz is small family-friendly village. The language, lifestyle and culture of the region is French, however English or German are understood by most. Cities like Montreux, Lausanne, Martigny, and Sion are close, providing various cultural possibilities. Two thermal baths in Saillon and Ovronnaz are located in the neighbourhood. Thanks to its height of 1600m above sea level, La Tzoumaz has agreeable temperatures, even when the Rhone valley or the area around lake of Geneva is suffering from exceptional heat.
