Photos and Description of the Ariege vacation rental A self-catering rental in an old renovated stone barn

The mountain style house of Cambouich is situated above the village of Erce in a clearing occupied by pastures. For you to come here there is a ground track which goes up on 3 kilometres in the mountain and which only some peasants use. The house is located at 1200 m of altitude. It had been abandoned because the slopes do not allow the mechanization of the cultures. It was recently renovated by preserving its typical granite walls and its slate roof, by arranging the interior in a practical way and with comfort. The house overhangs the valley of the Erce village. The view shows the slopes of Mont Valier which are the highest tops of high Ariege, this is really exceptional. And to refresh you, there is a spring beside the house which runs throughout the year. The house is located in the 'Haut Couserans' Dominated by the majestic Mont Valier massif, Haut-Couserans has inherited the might of the mountain ranges and gentleness of the foothills. The sunlit meadows and cool forests of Haut-Couserans are home to a rich palette of wildlife and plants. Nestled in scenic valleys, the many quaint villages will charm you with their unique atmosphere and ancient stonework. The house is a one and a half hour drive from Toulouse passing through the cities of Saint Girons,Oust and Erce. Nearby, many caves and museums can be visited as well as typical village markets. And for all, mountain air makes you hungry, you will enjoy traditional food at nearby GOOD RESTAURANTS. Ski station of Guzet neige is 12 km from the house. Guzet is 1400m. Season usually starts in December and finish end of March. Ercé has an unusual link with the USA through the 'montreurs d'ours' of long ago; you might be surprised at the number of inhabitants who will greet you in English In our house you will get comfort, peace and good air. SHOPPING AND RESTAURANTS: At Erce village(about 2 km from the house) you will find a cafe- restaurant and a small grocery store with all basic food. All kind of stores are available at Oust (8 kms) and big supermarkets at Saint Girons (20 Kms). Many restaurants are available in the surrounding villages.

Ski: Guzet Ski station can be seen from the gite. It is at 14 kms at an altitude of 1400 meters (Cambouich is at 1100 m.). Season usually starts in December and finishes end of March. For more information, please contact us. In the heart of pine forest, the ski resort of Guzet awaits you. The network of snow-guns has been newly extended for a guarantee of abundant snow the whole season long. This resort offers a wide range of skiing pleasures with its snow park, entertainment, and shops. Unlike bigger station Guzet is never crowded and you will not spend your time queuing.

La Grange de Cambouich has been a lovely and relaxing place to spend the 2 weeks of our honeymoon.
The house has absolutely everything in it and the views are to die for.
We went for ski and walks near the house.
We enjoyed: no noise, no neighbor in this quiet and unspoiled place.
We will come back.

The website described la grange de Cambouich as "a little corner of paradise" and it certainly is! We've had an unbelievable week here - the views, the weather, the peace and quiet and the warmth of the welcome have been brilliant.
The gite has to be one of the best ever anywhere and if you
do have a problem (the shower hose split) Mme Marie Noelle gets onto it immediatly.
A lot of places to go and visit. Whatever you choose to do whilst staying at Cambouich, you are sure to have a great time. Thanks Christian, one of our best ever holiday.

Hier hatten wir, Eltern mit zwei Jungs 9+11, einen erholsamen und zugleich abwechslungsreichen Urlaub. Das Wetter hatte von allem etwas, perfekt für jeden Anlass, ob Radfahren, Wandern oder Faulenzen, für jeden war etwas dabei. Das Haus war liebevoll gestaltet und hat allen Komfort des täglichen Lebens. Wir hatten absolute Ruhe eine fantastische Aussicht sowie leckeren Käse und Brot aus dem Örtchen Seix. Als Extrabonus gab`s die Tour de France live. Kartenempfehlung für Wanderer und Radfahrer ist die Nr. 2048 OT von ign. Diese gibt´s günstig vor Ort. Die Beschreibung des Hauses im Portal hat zu 100% gestimmt. Der Besitzer war stets um unser Wohl bemüht, die Verständigung auf englisch klappte sehr gut.
