|Minimum Stay||3 - 30 nights|
Step back in time, make a holiday with a difference.
Enjoy living in a leafy vibrant district of a modern city, deeply routed in its past.
The recently refurbished 3d floor apartment brings you back to the first half of the 20th century with its high ceilings, large windows, restored floorboards and selected old Berlin furniture. The typical Berlin residential house just celebrated its 103d birthday and lets you enjoy its surviving glass-stained elements in windows, paintings in the entrance hall and wood carving.
We try to recreate the style and the feeling of pre-war Berlin flat, but we took liberties to install a broadband Wi-Fi Internet connection and a flat-screen TV with a range of channels (including some news channels in English and French).
When you need a break from sightseeing, the two nearby parks feature a paddling pool (in the Schiller park)
and a natural lake with a sandy beach and enjoyable boat rides in summer (near Goethe park)
My wife and I stayed in the apartment for a week from 12/03 to 19/03. Prior to our arrival the owner sent us all the information about the location of the apartment and transport links from the airport. Information provided on the web-site, photos, description of the apartment coincide with reality. The apartment was very clean, spacious, with high ceilings and wide windows on a quiet street. There is a balcony. Bathroom with bath and shower. There are a hair dryer and a washing machine. Complete set of towels and essential toiletries.
The kitchen is comfortable, with modern furnishings, a spacious fridge. All dishes and utensils are in sufficient quantity. Everything is very clean. Heating and hot water without any problem. The big advantage is the availability of apartments free high speed wifi. With the help of the Internet we planned our city tours, visits to museums and theaters. Our arrival was early at 8:00 am. Nevertheless, the housekeeper kindly met us and let in the apartment. Our flight was late at 21:30 and we left the apartment at 7pm. It was extremely convenient - as it was possible to comfortably spend the whole day in the city and to leave for the airport with no hurry. Getting to the apartment from the airport Tegel and back is most convenient by taxi - only 12 euros and 7 minutes.
House exterior and interior trim, with the rest of the old-time finish (stained glass, murals, carved door). The area is calm and very quiet. There are plenty of cafes, bakeries with fresh morning pastries just around the corner. If you need to print something (boarding passes), you can use the services of the internet cafe across the street.
The nearest metro station is only 400 meters. We did not have any problems with daily shopping - Lidl supermarket is 300 meters away. Very close by is a small shop with everything you need. There is a supermarket Real working up to midnight.
Apartment is perfect for families and young couples; for a romantic getaway for two or for business trips. For older people with heavy luggage, absence of an elevator and location of the apartment on the 3rd floor can create problems.
We ourselves are planning to stay in this apartment again in our next visit to Berlin. We have already shown photos to our friends and advised them to opt for this apartment.
This definitely gave a feeling of pre-war Berlin which was nice. Apartment was spacious and clean. Same with the bathroom. Kitchen was very basic. Wifi connection was good and strong unlike some other places we stayed at. The owner was quick to respond and easy to deal with given our last minute booking and late arrival. Distance to the nearest Metro (Seestrasse) seemed to be more than 3 minutes or 500 metres as indicated. More realistically about a 10 minute walk - maybe 15 with small kids. Also, apartment has no lift and is quite a few flights up so a bit difficult with heavy bags which we had (but we knew that). Lastly, kitchen could be a bit better equipped with more supplies such as a strainer/collander, tongs, tea towels. Also, washing machine was out of order while we were there which was a bit disappointing as we had a whole load of washing that needed to get done. Other than that, it was pretty good and owner and lady we met on arrival were easy to deal with.
I loved this apartment. It is clean, spacious, and decorated delightfully well. I especially enjoyed the first half of the 20th century choice of furniture, the high ceilings, and of course the view on a beautiful broad street with lots of trees. It is not only stylish, but also has such a nice atmosphere, it's really feels so good to be there.
We have also found everything we needed in the apartment, like wifi, lots of fresh towels, basic kitchen supplies and such things, even tea and a hair-dryer, yay :)
The location is good: though the apartment is not in the very center, a metro station of one of the central lines is very near (and the metro is rather cheap; consider a 7-days card!)
Generally, I am most content of our trip to Berlin and this apartment; this is a place I will most certainly recommend to friends.
I very much enjoyed our stay at your beautiful and tastefully appointed apartment. The proximity to public transportation, and all the most prominent Berlin attractions, great local food places and apartment amenities all added to getting the real taste of Berlin. Would love to come back.
We really enjoyed our stay at this apartment. Before arriving the owner was very helpful in providing all the information we required.
The apartment is only 5 minutes from the Seestraase U-Bahn on the U6 which is a great route to the centre and also provides easy transfers to other transport links in and around Berlin.
The apartment is well equipped and clean. We were there between Christmas and New Year and it was very well heated. There is also free WiF at i which is a help.
The area has plenty of shops and restaurants. The restaurants recommended by the owner were good. There is one only about 200 metres away. There is also a little corner shop opposite which is open late for essentials.
The Berlin transport system is brilliant and not expensive. The apartment is very easy to get to from the airport at Schoenfeld using the Airport Express and U6.
Berlin itself is fascinating to explore and is not expensive compared to other major European Capitals. We felt we had only scratched the surface of discovering Berlin and will be back.
We would certainly stay here again.
The apartment is located in the leafy and vibrant northern part of the central district Mitte (lit. 'middle'). You are just 5 minutes walk away from the subway station Seestrasse, and it takes you 9 more minutes with U6 to the heart of Berlin - Fridrichstrasse, Unter den Linden, Alexanderplatz, the Checkpoint Charlie.
You can also change at the next station Leopoldplatz (or take a 10 minute walk there from the apartment down lively Muellerstrasse, enjoying the sights of Alexanderturm TV tower on your way) and take U9 line to the famous Ku-Damm shopping area and the Zoo (just a 7-minutes ride).
There are direct bus connections to Berlin Hauptbahnhof (central train station, 15 min, bus 120). Berlin Tegel and Berlin Schoenefeld airports are also within easy reach.
The immediate neighbourhood hosts many restaurants, bars, take-away, shops and supermarkets (some open until midnight).
