This unique 2 bedroom property is situated in the idyllic fishing village of Madalena Do Mar, only minutes away from the popular town of Calheta.This holiday accommodation rental unit is a rustic 2 bedroom house comprising of a double bedroom & a twin room, shower room/toilet, kitchen and lounge. If it is peace & quiet you are looking for then look no further. This holiday accommodation is on 2 floors the ground floor comprises of the kitchen lounge and stairway to the upstairs & 2 bedrooms and bathroom above.The ground floor outside area is totally surrounded by banana trees and block some light out; the upstairs has a wide balcony with sun beds and spectacular views from the south east to the west.This self catering house is just the property you may be looking for if you require privacy & solitude,with some lovely restaurant within walking distance. The entrance to this property is up a road about 50 meters from the main road, there is one parking space in the back of the house.

Madalena Do Mar Unspoilt: Madalena do Mar is an attractive rural seaside village with a very long pebbly beach and new promenade.Only 45min drive from the airport and 30min. west of the capital town of Funchal,it sits in the sunniest part of Madeira with a backdrop of mountains to the north below which are extensive banana plantations and cultivated terraces of vegetables and fruit.The recently extended road system,with its tunnels through mountains and bridges over deep ravines, combined with the construction of several new marinas along the coast has opened up this area of the island to tourism.However, this village boasts no hotels just delightfully friendly people, excellent café/bars and restaurants, a mini-market and plenty of sea swimming. You can marvel at the variety of exotic plants that thrive on the south of the island in the sub-tropical climate, perhaps best enjoyed by walking along the tranquil levadas(irrigation channels)and old mountain paths.Look at our other property reference number 57881

Madalena Do Mar has a long stretch of pebbly beach were one can swim. Within 200 meters walk you have a café/bar, mini-market and two excellent restaurants, the Madalena Restaurant has an excellent choice of fresh fish dishes, along with a variety of meats salads and fine wines. Further along the coast and 5 minutes drive away you can visit the popular Calheta Marina, Calheta Hotel and the Calheta Beach, this golden sandy beach is the only one the island has to offer, in the marina you have many restaurants of your choice along with bars and some entertainment at weekends in the Mad-Era Bar Restaurant, from the Marina you can book to go Big Game Fishing, dolphin and whale watch, peek season (June July you may meet some of the top pros in the Big Game fishing world, also at the marina you have a supermarket for all you holiday needs bank and ATM. Ribeira Brava is about 15 kilometres away, you also have a variety of restaurants, small shopping malls and lovely promenade.

Perfect bananahouse, excellent view on the ocean.
Perfect weather every day, bananas in your garden.
Excellent service from owner. Nearby the only sandy beach on the island ( Calheta)
Nice and clean, big holidayhouse
Recommended for:  Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

Our Banana House is a perfect holiday house for couple and families wanting peace and quiet and beautiful ocean views, the house is spacious very clean and very inexpensive accommotion, the stoney beach of Madalena Do Mar is only 50 meters away, however the beautiful sandy beach at Calheta which is only 10 minutes drive away is a must to go to, there you will find two beautiful beaches, a lovely marina and some superb restaurants, supermarket and Atm machine.

Carmen's Banana House is a clean, comfortable and roomy house, with lovely views along the coast and out to sea from the verandah - a great place for outdoor meals.

Aldina met us on arrival at the house and was the perfect host - thanks for the tasty bananas!

The house is at the edge of a village, is an easy drive on good roads from the airport and is a perfectly situated base for exploring this fascinating island.

We really enjoyed our one week stay at the Banana house in a quiet and exotic environment and thanks for a warm welcome. The house is clean, cosy and well-equipped. It proved to be a good "base-camp" for tours to the highlights of the Island.
For bathing we recommend Calheta beach - about 10min drive by car.
A very nice brake from the cold and dark winter month in Norway!

We stay with at Mike & Carmens Banana House and loved every minute of it, so peaceful, it was just what we were looking for. Lovely Banana Trees, never seen anything like this before.
Best views I have ever seen.
