Caseta suitable for 2 adults and 1 child (max) Barn for 2 adults (no children)

Our secluded caseta and restored barn in the countryside of the Costa Dorada is on the Via Augusta 6km from the beautiful beaches of L'Ampolla. In our olive groves are a variety of pomegranate, fig, almond, carob and orange trees. The Farm is supplied with water from our own deep water well and electricity is from solar panels. The use of our private walled 10metre by 5metre pool is essential on hot days and vegetables and herbs grow in our walled garden most of the year. The Caseta has a hot shower room/toilet, open plan kitchen/dining area with fridge, cooker and two single or 1 double plus the option of a single childs bed. The Barn has one double bed. There is also a comfortable lounge area with a log burner.. Outside is a BBQ and a covered seating area for al fresco dining. We have a large selection of books to borrow and WiFi is available. Although these are detatched , the owners of the farm live very close by and are always available if any problems should arise.

Sight seeing: The cities of Barcelona and Valencia and the old Roman city of Tarragona(Tarracoa) are within a 2 hour drive. Other interesting places to visit include medieval Tortosa, coastal Peniscola(famous for its association with the legendary El Cid), and the charming riverside village and fortress of Miravet accessed by one of the last unpowered river ferries on the Ebro.

Local activities: Hiking,walking, horse riding, mountain biking,bird watching, rock climbing, canoeing, fishing on the famous river Ebro or sea fishing are all locally available. Or just sit with a glass of local vino and watch the Spanish celebrating one of many fiestas. The fish restaurants on the harbour side of L'Ampolla are particularly recommended. Excellent traditional Catalan dishes are available throughout the area.

We are just approaching our 10th anniversary of buying this farm and 7 years of living here. We have spent most of those years renovating and reforming the property. We hope, fingers crossed, that our visitors will like and enjoy what we have done!

Mark and Shiela Fowler purchased this cottage in 2004

This really is an away from it all destination. The farm sits in its own terraced and wooded valley - very private and tranquil. A car is an absolute necessity as the nearest village shops and bars are a very very long walk! We love the history of this area, living on the Via Augusta with its links to Rome and Hannibal and the Elephants is, for us, 'living the dream'

If you are looking for a really peaceful and relaxing break spent mostly lounging around in the sun with a good book, then this will suit you down to the ground. Highlights of the week? probably the BBQ or making a pizza and sampling some of the best wines in Spain or just floating on an air-bed in the pool!

EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS!

Stayed here with my teenage daughter and was initially on arrival worried about the property location being too quiet, but she absolutely fell in love with the place. The pool and surrounding area was impressively clean and relaxing with a choice of various sun loungers and I think she would have been happy to spend every day lazing around at the side of the pool! Mark and Sheila introduced us to the wonders of an outdoor pizza oven, which I am now tasked to recreate back in the UK! The property and gardens were very well maintained and private and if we did ever need anything the owners were always efficient and willing to assist. Local supermarket was well stocked and reasonably priced. However, a car is a must for this property so you can explore the beautiful area. Simple and quick drive from Reus airport.It was great to have a holiday without the trappings of a typical tourist resort. My daughter has already set her heart on returning. Must also say a big Thank You to Sheila for giving up her time and teaching my daughter to knit, that's A* customer service!!

A HIDDEN GEM!

Fantastic quiet location with stunning views. A real hideaway holiday but still close enough to towns within a 10 min drive. Immaculately clean room and pool area. Lots of little extras provided and the kids loved the endless supply of beach toys/ games provided and my husband enjoyed borrowing a bike to explore the super views from the hills behind. Mark and Sheila were fantastic hosts and very knowledgeable about the local area.Local beaches were beautiful with good facilities such as showers, free parking and outstandingly clear water. Thanks to Mark's advise, we found an awesome beach where the water was knee high for approx 100m out and we could therefore relax whilst our 6 year old was safe playing in the water. You know you've had a good time when your 6 year old cries when leaving! This place is a hidden and unspoiled treasure with 2 hosts who are passionate about ensuring their guests have a wonderful holiday. Thank you to them both and hopefully see you again.

OUR PEACEFUL BREAK

We had a wonderful break at the Caseta after a long drive from Portugal on our way back to the UK. The peace and tranquility was second to none and Mark and Sheila were wonderful hosts - they made us feel so at home. Cant wait to get back there!

BEACHES, BARS, RESTAURANTS...GREAT

Coming after exams was a great idea, it was the best thing to relax after post-exam stress. The Caseta is beautiful and in the nicest little spot in amongst the olives. Being so close to so many amazing beaches was a bonus and even when the beaches weren't enough we could always use the perfect pool. L'ampolla being so close is also a real bonus with plenty of great restaurants and places to go (including more beaches) It is a lovely little traditional village that is a superb place to go and relax. Having Mark and Sheila so close by meant they were always there when you needed them and really handy, they are great hosts.
Can't wait to visit again.

Situated in the foothills of the coastal mountain range yet only a 15 minute drive to the blue flag beaches of the small resort of L'Ampolla. 15 minutes in the opposite direction and you are on the unique wetlands and rice fields of the Delta of the Ebro river with its amazing bird life and national parkland where many eco-friendly activities are available , bike riding , rambling, bird watching, canoeing and fishing, etc. Alternatively drive inland for the historic towns of Tortosa or the Templar castle of Miravet.and the civil war sites in and around Gandesa. Both Barcelona and Valencia can be visited using the cheap and efficient local train service . Barcelona , particularly, is well worth a visit and a steady 2 hour train ride along the scenic coastline is a cheap and stress free way of getting there! (around 20 euro return).The city of tarragona is even closer, at the time of the roman empire it was second only to Rome itself in order of importance and the old town is charming.

Golf: A small local golf course (9 hole) is available all year round and very cheap, full size golf courses are available within a 1 hours drive.

One third deposit to secure booking and the balance to be paid, no later than, 6 weeks prior to arrival. There are no hidden extras for gas electric etc and there is additional charge for " final clean "
Notes A £100 security deposit, in cash, is required on arrival. It will be fully refunded on departure if no major breakages have occurred
The low season rates currently include the costs of a free standing gas fire or the supply of logs for the wood stove depending upon the severity of the weather (Jan feb and march can be very cold at night and we have had one day of snow in 6 years!)
