Beautiful renovated barn dated from 1806 into a beautiful spacious holiday home

La Grange is situated in a small hamlet of Les Viaullieres, in the beautiful french countryside. La Grange has 2 bedrooms, Chambre Mure has a king size bed and a single bed and a en-suite with shower, toilet and hand basin. Chambre bleu has a double bed and a single bed with the ensuite across the small lobby which has a shower, toilet and hand basin. There is a spacious lounge with a beautiful fireplace with wood burning stove and comfortable furniture for 8 people. One of the settees turns into a very comfortable double bed. There is English television and radio also DVD player.

The large kitchen diner has a large dining table which seats 8 people. There is also a downstairs bathroom with shower toilet and hand basin.

The garden surrounds La Grange with a terrace of decking and gravel overlooking the beautiful views at the rear of the barn with tables and chairs plus 6 sunchairs plus 1 large parasol and a BBQ. In the front garden there is also tables and chairs with a parasol.

Help and assistance: The owners Hilary and Dave who speak English and French live locally and only a telephone call away. Please do not hesitate to call and we will try to help to our ability. The barn has an information pack with all the necessary information restaurants, châteaux, theme parks, walks, cycling routes and local doctors and dentists and chemists which hopefully will not be required.

David and I bought the barn in 2004 and worked for two years renovating into the comfortable home it is now. We have lived in France since 2011. We looked in many different regions and decided on this region because of the beauty of the countryside and the vast places to visit in the area. We have always spent our holidays in France and eventually our dreams came true when we found La Grange.

Hilary and David Madle purchased this barn in 2004

It was love at first sight although was only a barn with a roof and walls and earth floor but we both could visualise what it could be. It is situated in a pretty hamlet although no shops they are ten minutes down the road. The peace and quiet is wonderful but you can get in the car and be sight seeing chateaux pretty villages in no time at all.

La Grange is a home from home very large plenty of space and the hamlet is very peaceful and it's very easy to relax and enjoy the views of the countryside.

Holiday barn

Hi we stayed here at Christmas for nearly 10 days. We were 4 adults and a 2.5 yr old. Hilary and Dave were amazing hosts. I must say I never stayed somewhere so welcome and an absolutely beautiful place. They even put a beautiful Christmas tree for us with presents and everything. The bedrooms were big and comfortable with en suites and an additional shower WC downstairs. They recommended some amazing places to eat locally. Away from the cities yet close to everything. I bet summer must be spectacular with sunflower fields. The temperature was 14 degrees C on Christmas Day.
The place is immaculate with wood fires keeping you warm and cosy. Lovely walks near by and we did not want to leave!! Definitely recommend this place and also try and buy a place nearby there. You are near Chinon and Saumur. Best hols!!!!!

Charming home-from-home in a peaceful hamlet

We enjoyed our week in Hilary and David's very comfortable and well-furnished home in the French countryside. The house is part of a small hamlet which was quiet and tucked away and the views were wonderful from the back of the house. Hilary and David are lovely hosts and looked after us well. Hope to be able to go back sometime.

TRANQUIL, WONDERFUL ACCOMMODATION

La Grange is in a great countryside location, the view from the back verandah is amazing! Every comfort has been thought of and Dave and Hilary are so helpful and friendly! When we arrived late afternoon - the fridge was stocked with basics and there was fresh bread and two bottles of local wine waiting for us! We had some wonderful walks in the area and found some great restaurants in villages no more than 6 km away. We also cooked some meals in the very well equipped kitchen. The beds were very comfortable and the peace and quiet of the area helped us get a fantastic night's sleep! I would love to stay here again (though France is a long way from Australia) and would spend more time just sitting outside on the back verandah enjoying the fantastic view of green fields and trees. Highly recommended!

Just Perfect, Relaxing and Stunning

Our stay at 'La Grange' was simply perfect. The location is beautiful allowing for the 'away from it all' feeling while in comfortable driving distance to a plethora of attractions. David and Hilary were utterly spectacular hosts and even invited us to share a bottle of wine and some cheese in true french fashion. The actual house is beautifully decorated, the kitchen in particular allowed us to indulge in experimenting with the local cuisine. The backyard is the excellent place to daydream, read a book and sip some wine and we found ourselves outside frequently.
We could not recommend this property enough to any and all prospective holidayers. We would go back in a heartbeat and would like to thank David and Hilary for an amazing stay and great company.

Lovely property , well maintained and spacious, very well equipped with everything you need including WiFi . The owners Hilary and David were great hosts and fantastic company. Its especially good if you want a nice relaxing holiday, the garden and outlook were lovely, many local walks and chateaux to visit if you want to.
A swimming pool would have got it 5 stars! Highly recommended.

La Grange is situated in a small hamlet of Les Viaullieres, in the commune of Chaumussay. Although in the beautiful countryside of Southern Loire there is so much to do and see. There are many villages and towns which hold a weekly market. Loches which is 20 minutes drive away holds a market Wednesday and Saturday plus in the summer a lovely night market where you can buy local food and wine, visit the chateau, don jon and walk around the charming town with its beautiful park. Le Grand Pressigny a small town has its chateau with its new museum of prehistoric history. Also nearby you can spend the day swimming in the river at Lesigny where there is a beach great for the children and having lunch at the picnic area by the river. La Roche Possay, 10 minutes drive also has a market but is also a spa town and also has a beach and swimming in the river.

There are restaurants locally which serve superb food at a reasonable price also a Michelin star restaurant is 5 miles from La Grange in Petite Pressigny.

The countryside is ideal for cycling to see the beautiful region we have two cycles for our guests use.

We ask for a 25% deposit to reserve the booking then the balance to be paid 8 weeks before arrival. We will send a contract confirming the rates and dates and ask for it to be signed and returned.
Notes * We ask for 25% of the rental cost upon booking. This deposit is non refundable should you cancel. The remaining 75% should be paid 8 weeks before the start of your holiday. We ask for a Security Payment of 100€ in cash on arrival if there any breakages damage etc. This will be returned on the day of departure.

We offer you comfort peace and quiet and a relaxing holiday in a property that has been renovated to a high standard with beams, pointed stonework, stone fireplaces with wood burning stove, tiled and oak floors. On your arrival we supply you with a welcome pack consisting of local produce to start your French holiday. In the kitchen there are all the utensils you will need also teatowels for your use. We do ask you to bring your own towels for swimming. From 2013 we will have 2 bikes for our guests use. Also a cycle rack for the car which guests can borrow if they want to cycle further afield. From 2013 there is wifi available in La Grange.
